2,700 kelvin, for what it's worth (meaning I'm unclear as to where that lies in the kelvin spectrum).

yes saw them at the local Safeway tonight price were about $10 for ones that ranged from 25 watt to 40watt brightness and over 20.000 hrs and a bit more for 30hr bulbs .. i have friend who has switch over to them early last year said the power uses on his house went down big time enough to have the cops and power company to come to house to see why his house was lit up with light but did show he was using much power.. they thought he has screwed with the power box .. these light can are are brighter and have less of that Neon effect of you .. and no Mercury and less lead...of and not heat from what hear ..

Good info. Guess we should be prepared for people to take a possibly hostile interest in our attempts at being responsible--hadn't thought of that before.

Seriously? 60 and 75 watts? Is that a joke?
Do you mean rather that is their equivalent brightness to an incandescent of that power rating rather than the actual power consumption? Because if not then these are an expensive waste. If that is the equivalent rather than actual power consumption (I HOPE), then what is the actual number?
-Edit-
Ok, you've written your article snippet badly! The source says those ratings are EQUIVALENT, but it doesn't say the actual number, just "85 percent more more efficient than household incandescent bulbs" which could mean number of things but we'll have to assume the 75 = about 11 watts and the 60 = about 9 watts.
Those are the important numbers here ;) - 1 year ago

I have been building an entire Gallery for my soon to be webpage.... Thanks Friend... I have been blasting glass and other substrates for the last 15 years, I just found a way to make money for myself... I do all the blasting at work and build all the bases at home... This is my first DoubleBase.... It has LEDs on the top and bottom... The car looks like it is paint filled white, but it's just the LEDs making the blasting glow....

The sand-blasting can take about 15 to 20 minutes, it just depends on how deep I want the finished piece to be... The bases are all custom built to fit the glass... Sad part, if one breaks the glass, they have pretty much broken the base as well.... There is not a single sheet of beveled glass that will fit the base made for the original sheet.. I build the bases on my balcony and living room.... I have 15 years experience in blasting and have done some Bad Ass Sh*t.... Check this out....

Thanks bailey78... Funny what a desperate mind can create... I created the glass and bases as a way to leave my full time job... All the folks I work with are thug or tp... There is no one hiring folks with craftsmanship here in Denver, so I have been locked into a F***ed up job for 5 years now.... I am sure I am going down the right road... Hell this is just the tip of the iceberg....

I am planning on doing Glass doors as well... Thanks bailey78... Most people don't know much about one another and may sometimes lead to their own conclusions..... I find it nice to show folks what I am up to.... It is indeed hard to find that comfortable niche where employment is concerned... Sometimes you gotta throw it all in the mix, shake it up and create something new.... The coolest thing about what I have done.... You will never see this at Wal-Mart!!!

You may be surprised.... Knowing how the working folks like myself have been taking a beating, I have made these pieces very affordable.... They are great gifts in that they are one of a kind... I even add in a Certificate of Creation... Meaning when it was built, for whom it was built and that there will never be another one made, as far as custom work is concerned...

Your going to do just fine in this line of work. i must ask what kind of blaster are you useing? Because I have a sandblaster and I would be nuts to try and get that fine of a line with it. So either you have a small sandblasting set-up you are one lucky sandblaster. So please E-mail me the details of how you do this fine work You do. You have templates or is this all freehand? If you work freehand then You Sir are a true master of the Blaster. AHA HA HA Master Blaster I guess thats better than being a masterbaiter.

I agree with everybody here that this is great work and a good demonstration of how LED technology can contribute to home or commercial lighting--If you own a great artwork, you of course want it lit and seen all the time--with incandescent lighting, that's a waste of energy and $. What you are doing makes it better all round. Good luck!
