An idea, a good one but what now?
This video presentation kind of reinforces anarchist theory in reference to a society without labor, actually the buzz word is "post left anarchy". I know its radical stuff .. spooky
The theory touches on using play to achieve work. An example of play achieving work is using a biking system to generate power on a smart street using magnetic parts running generators giving free energy and health to the community, a win win situation for all. Of course though this requires a massive paradigm shift in our mentality and our way of designing our environments. The classical critique is that we human beings only do things for selfish incentives. We can look back to our entire tool making history to see that we actually do things because we like to make our lives easier and desire more leisure time. Our hunter gatherer ancestors understood this innately and probably would find our perceived way of motivating a society with monetary incentive oppressive.
Since we have lived in a boss-worker society since feudalism we as humans beings simply couldn't imagine a society that functioned otherwise. However rapidly advancing technology is the game changer and now more we are rapidly approaching a world without any need for labor a la technological unemployment. It would be naive to think contemporary society is ready to shift gears due to conditioning but in these interesting times it seems changing how societies function is becoming ever so pressing.

Have you ever heard of Utah Philips ? He called himself an anarchist and made it work in many good ways , feeding the hungry in the last great depression . This concept is old as the hills and still as true .

This philosophy is how I built successful sales teams and got the most cooperation from support teams when I was in the corporate world. It's how we helped build two successful companies.
I told prospective employees I wasn't interested in people in it for the money. I told them if they love what they do and they're provided the flexibility of how they want to do it, the money will fall into place. It was never the goal of my partners and I to sell off to a major corporation for an outrageous amount (to us) of money. We built a quality company and it happened.
When we had a company with a lot of programmers they came up with some great ideas. We had very creative people. We only gave them the essence of what we needed. How they got there was up to them. They had five days of freedom every week. Sometimes I would walk by a programmer's cube at 7pm. I would suggest they go home. They would say they're on the verge of something cool and stay until whenever.

This research has been around for over 40 years and free-marketers have been willfully ignoring it since. This is a well replicated fact in my field of Cognitive-behavioral Psychology, but for some reason has yet to come into the public view until Dan Pink came around. I really do hope it isnt too late to change our culture before we devour ourselves completely.

Revolution is in the air. However, it is like Recovery. You must make a personal decision first and then bond with like-minded individuals. Hence the beginning of a movement. Like Peter Gabriel says in Biko, "You can blow out a candle, but you can't blow out a fire. Once the wind begins to catch the flames grow higher and higher". CHANGE FORWARD!

I watched the movie The Road starring Charley Theron, Viggio Mortenson
last night. That may have been the very last movie which he wanted to be
cast in. If so, he made an activist message in it that didn't need to be
spelled out to understand. Watch it yourself some time, Kenny. I guarantee
you the answer to the question posed in the article will come shining through
immediately. It was a very sad theme, but a very powerful movie. Both are
known for their powerful performances. You won't wast your time watching it. - 11 months ago
