Among those acquitted were anti-globalist Jose Bove and Francois Dufour, recognized as “repeat offenders.” (Image: Jose Bove)
The court also dismissed Monsanto’s financial claims. Apart from their own legal expenses, the Reapers owe nothing for the 2008 mowing of a GM field trial of Monsanto’s GM corn, Mon810 x Nk603.
The trial marked the third court victory for Volunteer Reapers. Previously, the Chartres 58 and the Orleans 49 were also acquitted, notes the Inf’OGM press release.
The Poitiers decision relied on a technical issue which recognized that the wrong charges were brought against the group since they destroyed a GM field trial, not GM crops being commercially grown.
In 2008, the law was changed to differentiate destruction of a commercial field from a field trial, the latter being considered a “thought crime” rather than destruction of property.
“As the sprinkler waters, the prosecutor and Monsanto are tripped in the process they themselves have established,” notes Inf’OGM.

Bravo! This flies in the face of all those anti francophiles who maintain that the French aren't good for anything other than fries! Vive la resistance!

I would like to see a whole lot more of an uprising against Monsanto. Very few people actually know that they are cornering the market on the world food supple. Now there is a good idea huh... the global food supply controlled by an amoral AMERICAN multinational. Yes I said it...Monsanto is an American company...and American's wonder why we are not beloved of the rest of the world

That is true, so few do not know about this or the global reach of it. Which is why I started using the tools of this site to bring it out, which is the point behind user created content. Actually, since that won't be on the TV station, perhaps Keith Olbermann could actually devote some time to important issues like this to inform people of the behind the scenes deceptions and workings of Monsanto and other companies involved in this and just how far they have infiltrated and contaminated the seed market while abrogating our food sovereignty and democracy through government collusion, bribery, intimidation, ruining the livelihoods of farmers and monopolisitc monoculture while poisoning this planet for over the past century.

A small victory, but a victory nonetheless. This is why Monsanto has tried so hard to keep the location of their "field trials" secret.
