Could a Cyber Attack Shut Down the Stock Exchange?

The system is potentially vulnerable to attacks that would have great consequences to the financial system within the US as well as potentially the world. Perhaps Mr. Kass is just looking to leverage the fear, perhaps he is trying to fire off the “Bat Signal” that something is wrong or inevitable...

    • In 1994 in his book "Debt Of Honor" author Tom Clancy showed how a possible attack would happen. First start a major volatile incident to cause a panic inside the system itself, something that will cause instability, like the debt ceiling debacle congress created, then attack the record keeping system and destroy the data. So who's to say we weren't already attacked? Don't you think the TEA PARTY MIGHT HAVE A LITTLE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THIS????? AND LOVE IT!!!!

    • Although I have absolutely no sympathy for Wallstreeter/Banksters, I am not so sure this would be a good idea. We little people would be harmed far more than the Bankster/Hoarder class. At the time of the Great Depression we could still grow our own food, there were many people who had small amounts of land or at least access to such. Today that is not the case, also we would need to be able to lay hand on heritage seed and know how to preserve seed from each years harvest; very few people have these skills anymore. It is not as easy to get ahold of heritage seed and the GMOs saved from a precious crop have a rather pathetic germination rate---planned that way to force us to buy their GMO seed again rather than saving seed from crop to crop.

Don't get me wrong I would love to see the Criminally wealthy trowing themselves from their office windows, just as so many did in 1929. I am just concerned about "We the People" being able to survive the global depression that would surely result. Have you noticed how very much of our farmland is now covered up by housing developement?

    • Ok, so what if all those 'dry runs' that Anonymous and LulzSec have been doing for awhile now were just designed to perfect their techniques so they could actually do this? What an awesome Christmas present that would be for Jamie Dimon and Lloyd Blankfein :-)!!!
