Ladies and Gentlemen,
This is the second most important event in the past 2,000 years. Please read on.
I first published my concerns about the Gulf Stream being at risk of stopping in my 2005
paper "No Need For Panic". At that point in time I had been aware of the Gulf Stream
being at risk of stopping for a couple of years. On November 27, 2005, the scientific
community admitted that the Gulf Stream had lost thirty percent (30%) of its mass and
velocity. The same press release stated that the computer models were estimating that the
Gulf Stream would stop in 5 to 20 years, that is before 2025 – well within our lifetimes.
On June 12, 2010, the Gulf Stream stopped.
A bit of explanation is in order:
First, the Gulf Stream moves (used to move) warm water from the Caribbean Sea and
Gulf of Mexico to the western side of Europe.
The Gulf Stream (so-named by Benjamin Franklin in the 18th century) has a number of
other names: The North Atlantic Thermohaline Conveyor, The Loop Current, (Actually
the Loop Current is the name of that portion of the Gulf Stream which makes a “loop” in
the Gulf of Mexico. It was disrupted and lost its connection with the Gulf Stream after
the BP spill and the Corexit, thus breaking the connection of the warm Gulf of Mexico
water with the rest of the Gulf Stream. Matt Simmons may have been killed for revealing
too much about the problems of the consequences of the BP oil spill and the shut down of
the Loop Current, The Conveyor, and others. This river of warm water moving through
the colder North Atlantic Ocean begins in the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean. It is a
continuous current moving around our planet, which does not really “begin” anywhere. It
exists rounding the Southern tip of Africa, and crosses the South Atlantic, with some of it
moving south of Cuba and into the Gulf of Mexico and another part moving up East of
Florida and then, it moves up the Atlantic coast of Florida until it gets to Cape Hatteras,
North Carolina, and then it turned east across the Atlantic Ocean towards northern
Europe.
Up until June 12, 2010, it continued east to the British Isles where it split with part going
north to warm Iceland with the rest going south warming Scotland, Ireland, England,
France, Spain and Portugal. Now it goes a couple of hundred miles east of Cape Hatteras,
North Carolina, and stops! (Here’s the image to see the U.S. Navy map of the North
Atlantic, which depicts water temperatures and placed a large yellow arrow pointing to
the stopping point of the Gulf Stream. This
Sea Surface Temperature Map is updated daily by the U.S. Navy at website:

If it had stopped, then Europe would have experienced an ice-age last year, right? I feel like this is a big scare tactic based on a few images instantaneous images.
Saying that it stopped based on a few images is like deniers saying that global warming doesn't exist because last night was cooler than the night before.
Lets be sensible people.

The History or History International channel aired a documentary
entitled the Little Ice Age. For those interested in the role the
ocean currents have in regulating climate, it's a valuable study
in the thermodynamics of water. But the reason why it's a History
channel documentary and not a National Geographic channel
documentary is that it relates the effects of climate change on
human History. The Little Ice Age tracks the History of Europe
from the freezing of crops, and famine thu the French Revolution
and the colonization of North America by Europeans. Fascinating
how even minor temperature changes in the Earth's climate can
result in catastophic effects on human civilizations. Good read.If the Gulf Stream stops, and another Ice Age starts, it won't be
news to the Canadians. I lived in Oswego County, New York in
the late 80s, and saw on the Kingston, Ontario channel how the
trend of Global Warming, which IS real, would likely be followed
by an Ice Age. If that's true it seems to follow the pattern of a
scales rebalancing. The Earth may be overdue for an Ice Age,
which is a natural phenomenon that occurs. like magnetoshpere
shifts on a cyclic basis. Humans only relatively recently have
discovered the unique relationship the Sun has with the Earth.
A little tweak in the change of cyclic Sunspot activity is all it
takes to have profound effects on the Earth. But a massive
Coronal Mass Emission would seem tame compared to the
effects of an Ice Age of any magnitude on human civilizations.
It would make humans vulnerable to virtual extinction. As
incredible as it sounds, human civilization is a very fragile thing. - 1 year ago

there is a critical point and it has gone beyond that and stopped according to current water temp maps....much like perpetual motion once the balance is broken it all stops. The current is not flowing from the Gulf and is not getting to Northern Europe.

There are a number of infrared map products available but many of them show a regional view, especially the free ones. If you look at a product for the US east coast, expect the Gulf Stream to stop off the coast of North Carolina, just as it reaches the end of the coverage for that product.

This shows a warming of the North Atlantic in October 2010 not a cooling, which would be the case if the Gulf Stream completely stopped in June no? And if it truly did completely stop, we would be seeing much more of a drastic change much faster. Also, we could also see what appears to be cooling of surface water there due to water evaporation due to warmer air temperatures. Another huge island is just about to break off Greenland, so yes, warming is indeed happening. However, that again does not mean we are not seeing a slowing down to this loop, because I do think we are. More floods, storms, oxygen depletion, all signs of a slowing down of the Gulf Stream. But I doubt very much this could happen without it getting noticed by scientific organizations. You seem to think every scientist is in some conspiracy yourself and would even be able to hide something like this. If it was at the scope your Mr. Moore states, I find that hard to believe.
Also, where do you see the word conspiracy anywhere in my comments? And what makes you think I am not doing my own research? I do not place credibility in the person that states this. However, that does not mean I am not fully aware of the fact that the loop current has slowed down due to excessive Arctic melting and other factors and what could well be the influence from the Gulf oil ecocide and believe myself that it may well stop within the next one to two decades. I have been one of the most vocal voices here warning about the effects of climate change, and so that does not mean I don't agree in premise simply because I don't happen to agree with your source. I need much more. Therefore, I am and will continue to do my own research and should I come to the conclusion that what you posted is accurate I will state that. Thanks.

JanforGore:
Okay Jan, but it seems to me you don't take into account every aspect of the changes occurring. What of the volcanic intensification? Couldn't that add dimension to every angle of these discussions? Never does it get brought up. What about weather modification? They have been doing that for years and are getting much better, but we never mention that? There are many impacts we don't even know we are having as a group because we aren't told. How can we factor in thoise causes without even l;ooking as to what they may be?
Yes we are messing it up, yes the Earth is changing, yes we need to wake up and realize we must change our ways and be prepared to adapt to the new environment we have pushed the Earth to. I don't want to argue with you for we want the same goal, but we are just beginning to gather all the factors. May it not be too late when we do if ever see the full truth.

So if you don't know all the factors how can you post this as a certainty? Why do you believe this one person when he states this has stopped without any other proof? The point I'm making is that the Gulf Stream has not stopped completely as of yet, which was the topic of this post.

Ok, this is just one scientist's observation. Rather strange that this is from his own independent website and is not professionally added into a peer review processed article. So I'm sorry to say that this really isn't legit unless its been published in a peer reviewed journal publication. So far I find only this guy claiming it and no other scientists have found similar results. You cannot simply find one scientist and say aha! I found the ultimate conclusive source that this and that is occurring. This is simply common sense, one article doesn't equal absolute proof. When I write a paper, I can end up using 8 to 16 sources from various journals and sometimes yet rarely internet sources. If I wrote a paper using only 1 or 2 sources, I would probably be given an F for lack of sources.

Yes, well again like I said about that so called "Nuclear attack" article you showed earlier, obscure doesn't equal legit source. I see no other scientists online agreeing or coming up with similar arguments. All I see is a few conspiracy blogs and some smaller blog sites posting the article and nothing else. Stop acting like you're an expert in every damn field and attempt to ignore the obvious that this is just one source from one person. I go to Current to read good articles and not simply worthless conspiracy theories since conspiracy research is based off of half-truths, mis-interpretation of data, and simply pure imagination on the part of the so called "researcher". If the gulf stream stopped, we would be in a little ice age all over again as glacial ice sheets would be moving forward down towards New York and Europe would probably be covered in snow. Historical records exist showing how extensive the cooling got as glaciers moved in after the Medieval warm period. What happened then should technically be happening to us now as glaciers would be growing right now and begin to move again but, they continue to flow back at the moment. Although gulf stream stopping is just one of the many theories relating to a period known as the Little Ice Age.
