"America is waking up" read a sign made my a San Francisco protester on Saturday, the first day of #OccupyWallStreet & #OCCUPYFDSF.
That simple line speaks so much power, that Americans are finally beginning the process of realizing the illusion can be changed to better fit our lives. Americans are starting to see that that the main stream media puts out a great effort to control the collective consciousness by picking and choosing what to report, and how to report on it.
While I was at day one of #OCCUPYFDSF I did not see any news cameras or news crews, there were no major news outlets on the ground interviewing protesters or attempting to tell their story. There were however numerous bloggers and small local magazine reporters buzzing around the crowd asking the questions CNN and other MSM companies refuse to. While CNN was reporting on the Emmy's and how pretty the anorexic role models for parent-less children are, PFB's Vincent Vibbert was on the ground in NYC interviewing protesters and documenting history as it really is, not how the corporations want it to seem.
I did see one "report" on CNN about the Wall Street occupation when Don Lemon had a 30 second video-less phone interview with a reporter who claimed to had been on the ground earlier that day. The caller only talked about how much of a flop the event was and went on to discourage others from joining. After the clip ended CNN went on to encourage Americans to support the uprisings in the middle east and to push us towards accepting military intervention in Syria.

Being a great fan of the series The Tudors, there are numerous scenes of people lined up in droves with hands outstretched begging for Alms while the Queen walks by casually tossing out coins to the masses watching them scramble for them. This is the America that Corporate board of Directors envision and they almost made it. "When you have nothing, you have nothing to lose"

I'm not sure if i was a contributor to this sight in April, however, after reading your comment, I totally agree except for one thing, If my choice of vote is between Frankenstein and Dracula, please don't tell me it is my duty to vote for one or the other because that , to me is total insanity. If neither candidate will do me any good what would it benefit me to vote for one or the other. I don't believe in the lesser of 2 evils because that's like deciding whether I want to die instantly or slowly, the end result is that I die!

Pipe dreams of a utopia where we all hold hands and share...not possible, there will always be greed and someone wanting more than someone else. I wish it were true but alas no. You can bet this gal would not oppose the Capitalist system if she had wealth.

big props fo the kids out there protesting...the fact that the mainstream media are not cover this is only proof that they're beholden to wall st & could give a fuck about main st...shame on those assholes!
az the article points out, they'd rather draw our attention to totally useless shit like the emmy's or some freakin foreign war...all the while turnin a blind eye to the war wall st has been waging against main st (the repubz got a lot of ballz talkin bout class warfare)...their unbridled greed knows no bounds & it tiz main st which suffers the most from their antics...but try to raise attention to the devastating effects of wall st's flagrant corruption, the insane speculation, the derivatives scams & itz corrosive & poisonous effect on our government (DC) & barely a mention from the media...cnn spent months, weeks, days & hour after hour covering whats goin on in the mid-east, but barely a peep (in comparison) about the turmoil goin on here, about the huge transfer of wealth overseas, the hopelessness, the jobless, the homeless, the uninsured, the hungry etc...barely a freakin peep!
so itz quite obvious what happened to the mainstream media...we were warned long ago about deregulating the "forth estate" & gutting the "fairness doctrine"...they have become corporatized & the egregious consequences with regards to national unity & purpose have been incalculable...one needs no more proof of the mainstream media's arrogant position with regards to main st than their total disregard of those protests on wall st...they represent their masters on wall st!

LOL, America, the sleeping giant is coming. If you truly wanted change, votes are never the answer. Individuals make the nation, especially the true America made by our rebel forefathers. I guess it takes a new generation of rebels to take the nation back. Corporations have destroyed America's health, freedom, rights, integrity, truth, and mind, it is time to get it back. We need a renaissance out of our dark ages.

To say humans are a pack animal does not make us savages. Our failure to accept this makes us savages. What anarchist don't get is we are already living anarchy.I am sorry, but anarchists protesting the deregulated and lawless financial aparatus is beyond ironic. Anyone with a soul should be appaled with Franco's reign in Spain, but that does not equate to anarchy's success. Actually, Franco's ability to over take them does not speak well for anarchy. History shows lack of leadership opens the door to a monstorous form of it. Usually fascism. Anarchists frighten me because all they will do is leave a void fascism is happy to fill.
I dislike the same coruption they do. That being said, we are not savages, but we are animals that crave order. If we accept that, then we can make sure we help build our society and choose just leaders. Also, most progressive liberals are not anarchists. Anarchists are just annoyingly vocal. I respect their views, but that does not mean I have to accept them as the antidote to our problems.

Your knowledge of the Spanish Civil war is incredibly flawed. The anarchists lost because they were fighting the fascists, the republicans, and "left" (which fought for Stalin). The fact they were able to persist and organize for two years being attacked by both sides and Franco is a sign that there was indeed something powerful afoot in 1936 in Spain. Read a book.

Forgive me for this but did any one think that maybe the reason the msm isn't reporting this is because every one who is marching in these events that is asked what they are there for has no real Idea what it is they are marching for.
I have read these articles several times . Everyone wants change for the sake of economy and enviroment . Exactly what is it these people are asking for .There isn't an exact request .There isn't even a real platform .Just we want change and People in hell want ice water .Good luck with that - 8 months ago

I saw this reported on at several major media websites, but it was hardly promoted (no front pages, or TV coverage to speak of). Not like I'd expect corporate media to do more than barely acknowledge the event with a blurb on a website.
Still, it was a beginning......one I wish I could have been a part of. I look forward to helping spread this message to my state and hopefully next time multiple protest sites can be identified throughout the country.

This was a good thing and this is the earliest manifestation of what will eventually take over this country. I hope to translate it into a non-violent revolution by asking everyone to sign my Pledge-Petition Against Corporate Tyranny. https://www.change.org/petitions/a-pledge-petition-against-corporate-tyranny

Anarchy (from Greek: ἀναρχίᾱ anarchíā, "without ruler") may refer to any of several political states, and has been variously defined by sources. Most often, the term "anarchy" describes the simple absence of publicly recognized government or enforced political authority.[1][2] When used in this sense, anarchy may[3] or may not[4] imply political disorder or lawlessness within a society. In another sense, anarchy may not refer to a complete lack of authority or political organization, but instead refer to a social state characterized by libertarianism, or a lack of a state or ruler.[4]
Does she really want this ? lol...:)

Not to be a buzzkill, but the Anarchists continue to hold back the progressive movement. The human species is a pack species and therefore anarchy will never work. I am a liberal, and even I know the pack must choose its leaders to enforce a agreed upon set of rules
The problem is not that we have leaders, it is that most people do not realize their system has been hijacked and bastardized by sociopaths posing as leaders.
I am not sure what the best system would be. Too many people want a say, but do not do the research necessary to make informed decisions (i.e. a ton of white people in the middle to poor classes believe they are rich and that taxing the rich fairly equates to raising their taxes. News flash to the Joe the plumber with his plumbing business...you are not rich, you have more money than most, but you are on the upper end of moderate wealth. You are not part of the rich).
Monarchies are only good when an inbred king or queen ends up, by the luck of the draw, able to lead. Which rarely happens. And when it does...there are no elections. Basically, a ridiculous and archaic system.
Communism is almost too fair and therefore is ironically ripe for hijacking
Pure democracy is mob rule because most people don't have an interest in civic issues.
Capitalism is fine when regulated, but capitalist will argue otherwise. Therefore, since capitalist usually shun rules, capitalism takes an intrinsic turn towards the dark side.
The best would probably be what the founders intended, which was a democratic-republic. The basic principal was that we selected someone civic minded, with a concern for our local community's way of life to handle our affairs. This of course, has been bastardized by the corporations.
Perhaps the answer is a neo version of state's rights. I say this because the current congressional set-up is too centralized and easily hijacked by special interests.
We never get change, because they are only working for us once they have served their corporate masters that funded their election. The needs of the American people basically end up like the fish at the end of "old man of the sea".
Also, if power was fractured amongst the states, the government's war power's would be reduced to actual defense, not corporate profit in the name of defense.
Basically, the federal government would be reduced to enforcing basic human rights amongst the states, interstate transportation and organizing national defense under a fixed percentage of GDP, part of which would be border protection.
Also, corporate banking, defense and health care managers should all be dissolved.
The Banking and HMO voids would be filled by Credit Unions and Health cooperatives.
These cooperatives could compete and would not be ran by the government, with the exception that all profits beyond fairly paying employees go back to the cooperative credit unions and health care co-ops.
In my book, profiting off debt, war and refusing health care while taking premiums will always lead to incredibly unethical deeds.
Also, patents involving alternative energy or medicines that may have significant impact on the quality of life of the nations can not be bought and shelved indefinitely.
These are just some thoughts for kicking around.
In closing, I think we need to get creative and pick the road that has yet to have been taken.
Anarchy is foolish and naive.

The_Inglorious_Bastard:
Such absolute certainty, if anarchy is a failure then why was it working so well in Aragon in Spain before Franco slaughtered or forced many of them to flee? However lets leave that alone for a moment...
I'm going to skip the quick history as neither of us likely have the will to pick apart the fine details but lets just say you take a liberty with some facts which most people do anyway, especially when it comes to our origins as some sort of savage beast. I loathe this argument because it almost implies capitalism evolved from our natural instincts which skips how specialization, professionalism and some forms of pre feudalism helped create the system. Anyway not for today its way too long.
History is funny, it has been the job of the ruling hierarchies to prevent even a glimmer of an alternative way that challenges their prestige, if they couldn't convince the public that ruling elites are a normal thing then they have been willing to kill people to maintain that order. Even in this particular case I don't mean anarchy, as even say countries trying to break free of financial tyranny are now experiencing. An example, Haiti is still paying for its audacity to show the world a group of African slaves cannot only overcome racial hegemony while organizing a revolution they can also produce a functioning state, sadly through various backed coups with dictatorships the island has joined one of the many hells this world has produced, don't get me going on Latin America either.
I guess as allies I like liberals but as the past has shown many are willing to betray radicals even act as proto-fascist in order to have it their way via the political apparatus, which I guess they think is the source of all power....so as usual I'm skeptical of some petite bourgeoisie sentiments.

The_Inglorious_Bastard:
unfortunately when "leaders" are chosen the effect is to take power away from people and put it in the hands of those who ultimately capitulate to special interests and make deals for $, just so they can stay elected. States fail because they are necessarily invested in their own survival, at the expense of popular interests.
the reason why anarchy WILL work (and indeed is the only chance for peace) is because instead of having humanity divided against itself through nations, classes, economic relations and the ability for one group to exploit another, anarchy represents the truest manifestation of civic cooperation, with groups coming together to solve common problems. unlike today, when government is unable to accomplish anything because it demands that everyone negotiate and compromise with each other in an arena set up to propagate the power relations that were conceived of to protect those with power and property in the first place, anarchy is a redistribution of primacy, where power is once again transferred to the people themselves, regardless of assumed privilege, to actualize a classless society where exploitation as a structural reality is absent.

We need to go back to a time when the media was independent. Today they are all owned by bigger companies and for all intents and purposes will not go against corporate America.
Our government does not censor the media, the media censors itself so the money keeps rolling in. I would say corporate greed being put over the people's right to know is a negative aspect of capitalism.

That only comes from people supporting alternate sources of information and turning the TV news people off. My life is much better since I dumped MSNBC and CNN (never watched the other) The trouble is, once something starts popping, people like A. Huffandpuff whore it out to the AOL/Time Warners of the world who immediately flip it to the corporate feed, keeping a little edge long enough to get people hooked on Emmy coverage, Kate Takes Eight reports and goddamned royal wedding bullshit.
