2012 will mark 20 years since the last Rio Earth Summit, and the planet is worse for the wear, cites the document, stating that environmental, energy and financial issues are all at critical crisis levels. And the excessive financial burdens purchasing GMO seeds has on the world’s poor, in addition to the damaging health and environmental effects of biotechnology, makes the proposed ban a top priority for the world, cites the CSO-hub website, timetoactrio20.org.
Despite biotech companies’ promises of increased crop yields, drought and pest resistant seeds that can relieve the world’s hungry, genetically modified foods have yet to fulfill those promises. Pesticide resistant “superweeds” and insects are on the rise causing more use of the Monsanto pesticide, Roundup, which is now being found in ground and rain water. Farmers, including the planet’s poorest, are spending more money than ever before on buying Roundup Ready GMO terminator seeds instead of traditional and economical methods of saving seeds from each crop season.
The report cites studies showing there are one billion food insecure people around the world while more than double that are suffering from what Dr. T. Colin Campbell, author of The China Study, calls “diseases of affluence”—malnutrition caused from excessive consumption of highly processed foods (many of which contain genetically modified ingredients), meat and dairy products and lead to diabetes, obesity, heart disease, stroke and cancer.
Small-scale agroecological farming and other sustainable farming methods “developed in the framework of food sovereignty” currently feed about 70 percent of the world’s population, cites the CSOs’ document, stating that the UNCSD has an historical opportunity to eliminate world hunger, improve the environment and financial stability around the world by moving away from biotechnology. Market diversity and research support for small-scale farming could decrease the world’s seed prices by 30 percent—or about $9 billion annually, according to the document.

The USDA is an investment partner with Monsanto.Monsanto will not go easily with the tentacles it has in government. The State ag extension network, and State ag colleges are joined at the hip to Monsanto, DuPont,Aventis, and the other chemical gm seed corporations. The giants won't go down easily, but like the Occupy Wall St,movement, the facts about the gm,and ag chemical frauds exposed, their end is coming.

It's not only their pesticides or GMO seeds that they use to poison people with ...check out the Carpet industry that has been making many sick...Monsanto has their filthy paws in this too! This is one of the most dangerous corporations ever known...You need to research these criminals and arm yourself with all the information you can get about what they are into because if Monsanto has anything to do with a product you can bet 100% it's nasty and will make you sick.

Um fattening a small yet substantial amount of chickens on the healthiest food I can afford.... I garden year round enough to ease the burden of rising food prices and the worrying about buying "fraken-foods"...
Started with small steps, and not even much money into it. Many people can do a whole lot to put an end to dependency on corporations like Monsanto....
Farmers markets are coming back and growing in popularity all over the country, and most of the people involved can give some awesome tips and pointers....
I'm a big fan of raised beds myself, about 3 foot wide, a foot tall, and as long as you prefer.... Walkways between them, and the bottom set up to either drain or retain water. In allot of areas you can grow at least a few things even in the colder months. Cover it with clear plastic half the day to retain water in times of drought, or protect plants in freezing weather.... All kinds of neat things you can do....
Forget the organizations, if you can get food independent yourself, good therapy...

Here is the link to read the Mercola's site article today - The Label Even Monsanto Considers a 'Skull and Crossbones'...
http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/10/03/cbi-taking-down-mo...
Another quote taken from this article: "If California voters pass this ballot initiative in 2012, it will likely be the beginning of the end for Monsanto and genetically engineered food in the U.S. According to Zuri Starr, a Southern California field organizer for the Organic Consumers Association: " My dream come true!!!!!

This article sounds good to me, music to my ears, (both my own and the ears of corn I used to eat) :) Wouldn't it be nice to see Monsanto melt away, just like the wicked witch of the west? She's m-e-l-t-i-n-g........

Found this quote today on Dr Mercola's website (I was actually looking for something else, but this was too good to pass up)
"If you put a label on genetically engineered food you might as well put a skull and crossbones on it." - Norman Braksick, president of Asgrow Seed Co., a subsidiary of Monsanto, quoted in the Kansas City Star, March 7, 1994
I don't have the exact newspaper source, as I said, it comes off of a good reputable source, so I am pretty sure it is a good quotation. I do know one thing, it is the truth. :)

Global resistance to GMOs is growing as more become aware of the scam it is. I am hopeful we will see something good come of this initiative. Calling for labelling is important and necessary, but GMOs really do need to be banned globally. Their "substantial equivalence" is anything but substantial or equivalent. I will definitely be following this!

Well then, maybe the Supreme Court of US, oh yeah...forgot that is Monsanto also. Hmmmm..... wondering who will stand up for us in this fight here in US? I guess we need to do that, right? Thanks Jan.
