I don't know how many employees you will get to demonstrate or even call for their employer to "go away". This would mean the end of their job.

You do a really good job, I give you my business. You charge a fair price or I leave you and find someone who will. I pay my bill and you continue to improve your products, showing me you're listening. A symbiotic relationship. Mutual benefits.

I CARE. $5 that translates into billions a year in unneeded profits a year on top of all of the other fees and what they are doing regarding mortgages. That $5 fee on every swipe of your card is just part of a huge systemic problem regarding the power these banks have over our damn lives. So yes, I CARE and I'm sick of it.

I think you're missing the bigger picture here. This isn't about the $5. It's about making these irresponsibly financial behemoths think twice about the power the 99% actually have over their entire world. They must be made to understand who really has the power so they aren't allowed to steal peoples homes, cars, education, health care, savings, retirement, 401K, Social Security, etc, etc, etc....

Why would you bank with them anyway? $5 in ATM fees? They are trying to steal my parents $200,000 home/retirement. I'm not defending them. Can I not care about others and what is being done ever so subtly to this country as a whole by charging to do anything at a bank. GREED is running rampant and this is part of it as well. It starts out as 5 dollars, then 10, then 20... Get it now? And again I am NOT THE ONLY ONE upset about the arrogance dsiplayed by these bastards who throw a hissy fit over a law that they then use to smack consumers with another fee that will give them BILLIONS in dollars they can use to keep screwing everyone else. Even though I not longer do business with BoA, (credit unionized now) I wondered what they were up to in regards to the recent change in "holding" my deposit? That was another one of the reasons I left, (there are many reasons) but I wondered what they were up to in regards to "holding" my money and not crediting my account, you see, my paycheck was coming from their bank, so it did not make sense to "hold" my deposit. Unscrupulous a-holes. I am soooo glad to be gone from there. It is a good feeling! And thanks for explaining their tactics. I hope *everyone* reads your post.....

It's just like the story of the homeowners who paid cash for their house they owed money to but didnt pay. They hold on to the money as long as they can in order to make money from it by investing it in other vehicles. And they aren't the only ones who do it. Even hold policies for some banks regarding funds deposited can be as extreme as a five day waiting period before you can even use your money.

Yes, one can always choose another bank, but in doing so, wouldn't it be nice to let the offending bank know just why you are flipping them off ? And, with all the pain and suffering banks have caused the American public over the years...DAMN IT...IT IS A BIG DEAL ! !

Charging the users for use of a service that had its costs covered by punitive fees on the poor is not that big of a deal. This is the way it should have always been. All the other banks may follow suit if BofA doesn't lose all of its clients.

Jan, I've got nothing against you, specifically. I just saw something I was interested in and commented on it. I didn't even realize I was putting another post of yours down until after I posted my comment.

Big Deals to Me:

Income and wealth inequality, efficient and sustainable societies, technological investment, economic health, upward mobility, productivity, medicare for all, reduction in the military budget to Clinton era levels and tax hikes on the uber wealthy (which feeds into the rest of it), fairness in markets, cultural embrace and harmony, interesting conversation, home cooked meals, and back rubs.

Well this ties into everything except home cooked meals and backrubs.

I understand your point, but the point is they're not ignoring it. That's just like saying, why stand out on Wall Street, they will just ignore that too. It is still a voice, maybe of some who can't make it to stand in the streets and want to be heard. I understand about just closing the accounts there that's why I say boycott. That doesn't however make the fee any less unwarranted and who knows this may even stop some others from thinking about it. We all have our own ways of being a part of the solution and at this point I don't think any should be discounted.

agree bailey....but the banks have relentlessly gone after credit unions, using our uh, "representative government" to do so. Wonder how long it will be until the banks and the politicians gang up on them again.

Very good feeling, and it takes a little time to get everything in order to close out checking, especially if one is using their accounts to pay bills online and stuff like that. At least one good thing I don't write checks, so I did not have to worry about a forgotten check out there. I did not even buy checks. But, the debit card is very useful, and I resent the heck out the bankers thinking they can charge us to spend our own money. Not to mention the fees they collect from retailers so we can pay with debit cards, it is really all such a fiasco, but I must admit, debit cards are so much easier than checks, but again, they are also better for ALL involved. No one should ever have to pay to use debit cards.
