Tell Bank of America to drop its $5 bank card fee-hit them where it hurts

The CEO was flustered and couldn't give a coherent explanation -- an embarrassing moment on national TV for the big bank (and the second night in a row that Molly's petition was a featured story on the newscast).
Bank of America is feeling the pressure from Change.org members. As more people speak out, Bank of America will be forced to cancel its new fee -- and other banks will be too scared to create their own new fees.
Add your name to Molly's petition demanding Bank of America cancel its new $5 debit card fee.
While you're signing, check out the amazing video from ABC News. It's inspiring to see one person's petition can make a bank CEO squirm on TV! Watch it here:

these people with their petitions smh, their should be a campaign to get people to move their banking elsewhere if bank of america doesn't change their actions by a certain date instead of a petition it should be a ultimatum with real consequences. If they don't comply people should go inside and start closing their accounts by the thousands.
Actions speak louder than words.

I love the way these greedy fuckers are trying to blame it on government regulations! How about finding an honest way to make your bottom line fatter - like loaning money again? New services that people will pay for. Feeing the shit out of your customers is not a sustainable business model. We have several business accounts with them that we immediately closed when they announced this crap. I do NOT want to pay them over 500.00 a year just to use my debit cards. I found a very friendly local credit union here and they were more than happy to open our accounts - fairly free of fees.

A symbiotoc relationship. Is that to much to ask for? That's how business relationships grow and prosper.
You do a really good job, I give you my business. You charge a fair price or I leave you and find someone who will. I pay my bill and you continue to improve your products, showing me you're listening. A symbiotic relationship. Mutual benefits.

$5 bucks? Who cares. The real crime is them foreclosing on peoples' homes. They were never the lender in nearly every home they claim is theirs. They are literally stealing thousands of people's homes and we are bitching about ATM fees. Wake up!

I CARE. $5 that translates into billions a year in unneeded profits a year on top of all of the other fees and what they are doing regarding mortgages. That $5 fee on every swipe of your card is just part of a huge systemic problem regarding the power these banks have over our damn lives. So yes, I CARE and I'm sick of it.

I think you're missing the bigger picture here. This isn't about the $5. It's about making these irresponsibly financial behemoths think twice about the power the 99% actually have over their entire world. They must be made to understand who really has the power so they aren't allowed to steal peoples homes, cars, education, health care, savings, retirement, 401K, Social Security, etc, etc, etc....

Why would you bank with them anyway? $5 in ATM fees? They are trying to steal my parents $200,000 home/retirement. I'm not defending them. How do I get voted down for making a bigger issue out of the crime of the century than out of annoying fees? Literally millions of illegally foreclosed on homes but $5 dollar fees is what we are pissed off at? Sure that's one more reason BofA sucks

What makes you think I'm not outraged about that as well? And I DO NOT bank with them which is my damn point. Can I not care about others and what is being done ever so subtly to this country as a whole by charging to do anything at a bank. GREED is running rampant and this is part of it as well. It starts out as 5 dollars, then 10, then 20... Get it now? And again I am NOT THE ONLY ONE upset about the arrogance dsiplayed by these bastards who throw a hissy fit over a law that they then use to smack consumers with another fee that will give them BILLIONS in dollars they can use to keep screwing everyone else. Try to see the big picture instead of harping on me for posting about something important just because it isn't what you wanted to see.

Even though I not longer do business with BoA, (credit unionized now) I wondered what they were up to in regards to the recent change in "holding" my deposit? That was another one of the reasons I left, (there are many reasons) but I wondered what they were up to in regards to "holding" my money and not crediting my account, you see, my paycheck was coming from their bank, so it did not make sense to "hold" my deposit. Unscrupulous a-holes. I am soooo glad to be gone from there. It is a good feeling! And thanks for explaining their tactics. I hope *everyone* reads your post.....

It's just like the story of the homeowners who paid cash for their house they owed money to but didnt pay. They hold on to the money as long as they can in order to make money from it by investing it in other vehicles. And they aren't the only ones who do it. Even hold policies for some banks regarding funds deposited can be as extreme as a five day waiting period before you can even use your money.

Or like Cain, if you don't like the cheating we did in this game, learn to cheat the stoopid too and you can be rich!" We must reply. Why sign a petition that we know that they'll ignore? The best thing we can do is just close our accounts with these big banking bloodsuckers and bank locally. Join a credit union or the like. Pay for things in cash. And most importantly, save instead of spend.

I understand your point, but the point is they're not ignoring it. That's just like saying, why stand out on Wall Street, they will just ignore that too. It is still a voice, maybe of some who can't make it to stand in the streets and want to be heard. I understand about just closing the accounts there that's why I say boycott. That doesn't however make the fee any less unwarranted and who knows this may even stop some others from thinking about it. We all have our own ways of being a part of the solution and at this point I don't think any should be discounted.

Very good feeling, and it takes a little time to get everything in order to close out checking, especially if one is using their accounts to pay bills online and stuff like that. At least one good thing I don't write checks, so I did not have to worry about a forgotten check out there. I did not even buy checks. But, the debit card is very useful, and I resent the heck out the bankers thinking they can charge us to spend our own money. Not to mention the fees they collect from retailers so we can pay with debit cards, it is really all such a fiasco, but I must admit, debit cards are so much easier than checks, but again, they are also better for ALL involved. No one should ever have to pay to use debit cards.
