Solar Scandal: Fox News Slanders SunPower

coolplanet
In an attempt to create a “solar scandal” that will be “even bigger than Solyndra,” Fox News has launched an all-out assault claiming that SunPower, which recently received a federal loan guarantee, is a “failing company” that is creating jobs “not in America, but in Mexico.” In fact, industry experts see SunPower as “a success story” and the loan guarantee supports the construction of a power plant in California, not Mexico, reports Media Matters.

“Establishing our own manufacturing facility in Mexicali means we will be positioned to quickly deliver our high-efficiency, high-reliability solar products to a growing North American solar market,“ said Marty Neese, SunPower’s chief operating officer. “Over the past year, we have successfully ramped up manufacturing at Fab 3 in Malaysia where we set records for output and yield efficiency, and launched manufacturing in California, with a facility in Silicon Valley and expanded our panel manufacturing in Europe." (from your link)

What's wrong with SunPower setting up shop in California, Mexico, Europe and Malaysia to provide solar products to a rapidly growing world market?
This is the best news I've heard in years!

I just figure that tax payer funded jobs programs should focus on the US. Solar is good stuff imo, but as long as the "grid" system is in play we will still be at the mercy of the power companies.

Check the financials for this year on SunPower for yourself and see if it is as solvent as Media Matters infers.

Everyone has been brainwashed to believe Solar has to be hard = MUST BE MEGA-FARMED.

Not true. A small yard house can run an entire home using tricks of Power Magnification.

Their answer to everything is Cosmic-sized => Mega-Farms for Food, Mega-Farms for Solar, Mega-Farms for Wind, Mega-Ocean Wind Farms off Massachusetts, to them we little people cant do anything for ourselves we must pay them to FARM EVERYTHING OUT TH' YING~YANG FOR US.

A solar cooker system is the trick of which I speak => a stream of water is shot from the cooker base up thru the cooker focal point (MAXIMUM HEAT CONCENTRATION)... making a Steam-Driven Generator System.

Solar cells are no longer needed, a good thing too! The precious metals being squandered in solar cell [obsolete] technology is needed for computer parts & circuitry.

Self contained energy source is the future. I just have the feeling that we should bypass the massive wind/solar farms for a nexgen technology. I think I still have a Laser Disc player around here somewhere.

You are correct. A "standalone" device not umbilical-corded to a "Main Power Grid"! The best ones run based on synergistic combinations of Physics Laws not Wind or Solar or Tides, systems that run even if an EMF bomb was exploded over our heads.

Steam Engines! A car run on steam, an EMF explodes over the U.S. it would continue running because it does NOT depend on an electrical system. And should we ever find it necessary to live in caves (underground) it would work there just fine also, PLUS KEEP US WARMED.

    • Fox is Corporate Controlled Media. Renewable energy does not have the money like Big Oil. It is a sad day in American when big corporations can buy public opinion in this country. Occupy Wall Street is way over due!!!!!

    • Damn the Sun! We should be lighting our Earth with oil. The petroleum industry is hurting for cash and God knows our air isn't brown enough.

Even if they did sue, they would probably lose. When called into court, Faux won't stand behind their reporting, they will argue freedom of speech. They will say freedom of speech gives them the right to frame a story however they like, even if it means lying.

      Great point.
But I still think it's against the law to yell "Fire!" in a crowded theater when there is no fire.
Fox lies have the power to drag down SunPower stock.
Rethuglicans want to see America fail.
