On Monday, the National Space Society (NSS) will present findings from a bombshell new report by the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA). You’re hearing about this here first. (Full disclosure: I’m a member of the NSS board of directors.)
Some background: We are running out of energy. By 2030–40, the projected annual electrical energy consumption will be a staggering 220 trillion kiloWatt hours, double the consumption in 2010 — and four times more by 2090–2100, according to the International Energy Agency and U.S. Department of Energy.
“Economic concerns have diverted attention from energy policy and limited the means of intervention, the International Energy Agency reports in its 2011 World Energy Outlook. “Post-Fukushima, nuclear is facing uncertainty. MENA [Middle East and North Africa] turmoil raised questions about the region’s investment plans. Some key trends are pointing in worrying directions: CO2 emissions rebounded to a record high, energy efficiency of the global economy worsened for the 2nd straight year, and spending on oil imports is near record highs.”

We have unlimited power already, no need for going out in Space for it => GRAVITY. The sheer force of gravity holding down a trillion tons of WATER keeping it from flying off this planet can be harnessed, rather easily actually, and IT NEVER RUNS OUT.
Don't get me started on Solar oops there ya go again okay Solar Cookers can be housed in a closed greenhouse setting & used to vaporize streams of water into STEAM to drive steam generators.
THIS PLANET HAD POWER SINCE CREATION DAYS BEGAN.

Whenreferring to gravity power there are two known sources, Hydro Dams like Hoover, and Wave energy. If yu know of another, please enlighten me.

Well, if the small amount of water above the ground saved in a lake can run hydroelectric then how much would 8 tons per square inch at 28,000 feet ocean depth power?

Sorry, I would have spend all day describing elementry physics to you for you to fully understand. Put simply your idea just won't work. In order for pressure to exert a motive force that can be converted into energy, you need to have a low pressure area for it to push against. At the bottom of the ocean, everything is at the same pressure, so no power...sorry. And if your thinking you'll just take some low pressure air down there, the energy to do that will be more that you recapture. There is this nagging little law in physics called 'consevation of energy'.
In order to use gravity you need to spend energy to lift something up and then cature that energy as it is lowered. With water, the sun injects energy which evaporates water that is carried by winds, more solar energy, which then rains and runs down hill where we can capture the solar energy imarted in the water with a turbin. With tidal energy the gravity of the moon creates waves that can then be captured. With currents (tidal currents) the sun heats water causing convection which pushes the ocean around.
You would get more energy off the sea floor by placing a turbin down there to capture the current which is also created via solar energy input, not gravity. No one does that though because of the difficulty of maintaining it.

Uhm, you'd have to "spend all day" explaining why I'm wrong? If it takes ALL DAY to do that then maybe it's YOU who are wrong. Truth is not that difficult.
You have explanations; I gave you Truth. 8 tons per square inch (psi) of water pressure is a useable energy source. The fact you do not possess the insight to harness it doesn't automatically make me your door mat outside the Physics door.
Much as you apparently want it to be. You sir have turned your nose up at a very AWESOME & HARNESSABLE ENERGY SOURCE THAT IS DARN NEAR FREE. All ya have to do is fish the energy fish out of the ocean ALREADY SPAWNED AND RAISED FOR YA.
So why did I figure it out and you, the mighty Physics Master, did not? Maybe you should try Prayer. It works great for me! Your eyes remain blinded while mine are miraculously opened, and remain open.
Hmm, too bad for you I guess, Master. hahaha

Oh my friggin God. The reason it would take all day is that I would have to raise you level of understanding the basics of physics from such depths. I'm going to discontinue this conversation, not because I give up, but that I don't enjoy teaching a rock how to swim. Do your self a favor before you embarase your self any more. At only 33 feet belowthe surface you have twice the pressure at the surface. That should be enough to prove your theory of extractind free energy from water pressure. You do that and show a provable method of generating net positive energy from water pressure at any depth and I'll buy your dinner and offer an appolgy. You can save yourself some time by running this idea past your local high school science teacher.
How to you pran on harnessing that pressure?

You are very smart. I can tell by the way you write. Obviously 8 tons PER SQUARE INCH doesn't meet your needs. That's it then.
Gravity is a Loser's Energy.
Uhm, for a Loser Energy it sure seems to require a few MILLION TONS OF THRUST TO REACH EARTH ORBIT THO => ARE YOU SURE?
You seem very sure.

And just how do you plan to turn 8 tons per square inch into useful work, for example moving a piston or anything for that matter? Please explain the mechanics of this magic fairy dust.

I choose not to. You're way too smart to be fooled... especially since you know it's such a flimsy power anyway. It would just be my word against yours and you would not budge, as many before you also were smarter than me and they also refused to budge.
That's why it isn't built & running now. Nothing would be achieved by trying to convince a Learned, unconvincible educated man like you.
Thanks for the back & forth though. It's been Real. I'll start saving a few pennies each month from my disability check til I can do like you say, make a smaller one, then I'll make my move then.
