Anonymous deletes CBS: Operation Megaupload continues

In a powerful and unique display of virtual prowess Anonymous hacktivists deleted the entire CBS website. The website went down late Sunday morning, and was off line for approximately 20 minutes.
In a fury over the government shut down of popular file-sharing website Megaupload, Anonymous has gone ballistic. In an extraordinary performance earlier this week, Anonymous hacktivists successfully disabled multiple government and entertainment websites in an action dubbed Operation Megaupload (#OpMegaupload). Sunday’s attack on CBS is a continuation of Operation Megaupload.

these attacks wouldnt be successful if the media internet services were not trickling the throughput via the servers. if we truly had an open free flowing internet. they sold us on the fact that the fiberoptics would carry virtually infinite amounts of information. and then they put contrictions, choke holds, taps to control the data to raise profits.... did that make sense. they are hoisted on their own potards

I love this. Frankly, CBS and the others are only web sites. Ya know, just like your blog. The same blog that SOPA, PIPA and now ACTA can make disappear with a mere accusation. Anonymous, keep up the great acts of rebellion that others are too timid to perform. Screw the Corporate States of America. Screw Multinational Corporations. Screw Big Media. Screw Republicans and their cronies. Screw the 1%. Hit 'em where it hurts: right in their taxpayer-funded wallets. They've had it too good for too long.

How does one go about 'deleting' a website?
Why is media still citing LOIC and DDoS as the primary attack? This attack does not delete anything and is antiquated at this point... Good to know the media is still fucking clueless...

I'm for Anonymous and this didn't chnage my support of them. Here's another action to be mindful of along with SOPA and PIPA. It's called ACTA.

I heard that the anonymous folks put code into simple web pages that caused the end users computer to carry out ddos attacks for them when they took down the government/entertainment web sites.
Also heard that they got a certificate from Mozzila so that their code would be download durring updates.
Scary stuff.

Again, stop attempting to relay hearsay and tabloid reporting as actual news.
The fact of the matter is ars is speculating on what happened. And it's funny how you left out the target of their attacks were pedophiles.
I'm not even going to respect the second link as the Daily Mail is widely understood to be a tabloid.
Please... just stop.

This in my book is a strike against a group I have mostly supported since thier appearace on the scene. This is the same sort of behavior in my opinion as burning the Library at Alexandria. CBS undoubtedly has thier own materials safe and secure elsewhere however the non-employee contributors to that site have lost a piece of themselves with this one. Comments and ideas shared by people from around the world on uncountable topics have been lost and thats sad. Guy Faulks and "V" both would be in guilt ridden turmoil knowing that thier legacy know includes the distruction of free though and the ideas of average citizens.
Just my two cents.

Again its not CBS content that I am concerned with as that is all undoubtedly safe and secure elsewhere, but the materials contributed just to that site by non-employee contributors is the hard part here. How many people lost comments, threads, forums, and indipendant articles that they poured thier souls into? Any loss of knowledge factual and or trivial is a sin against humanity akin to the burning of a library and I will stand by that belief.
