very few understand this is billowing into the atmosphere, leaking into the oceans and the core is still lost in the Earth under the containment vessel...this is not just affecting Japan though certainly them the most. Thank you for keeping this info out there for people to see...have been trying to do the same.

How sad for the people of Japan. They know how radiatin exposure affects people from past experience and it is just sad that they have to go through this again.But these were the choices that were made for them by the government and corporations. It hurts my heart to think of all of the lives that will be lost prematurly and the children and animals that will be born with deformities.
The big question we have to as ourselves is "What has been learned from this?" Obviouslyu nothing. We did not learn when the lession when we dropped the bombs during WWII. We did not learn from Chernoble. We have not learned from all of the little nuclear accidents at power plants around the world. And countries around the world equate having nuclear weapons with power and stupidly strive to acquire them. So nothing has been learned by the powers that be and they are not listening to wiser heads or the voices of the people. And the majority of the people are not educating themselves about the situationat hand. So when the shit hits the fan they will yell and scream "Why did this happen?"
One thing for sure if we don't blow the planet up it will recover after we destroy ourselves. Excellent post +^d

Thanks for the info, Progresshiv, because this story has been swept under the rug.....like most tragedies are. Very scary. Not to mention the recent nuclear leaks here in the US. I swear, this is how all of us are going to go out.

Yeah!!!... don't build any more of the darn things. We developed Uranium-based nuclear reactors because they are, shall we say, "convenient" if you also want Plutonium for weapons. There are much, much safer methods of nuclear energy production that are well known technologies (60-years well known).
I'm not talking "cold fusion" here. That's still blue sky, "high-tech to the rescue... coming soon". Remember in the 80's when we were all waiting for fuel-cells to power us down the highway? We back-burnered rational tech while waiting for the cool stuff. Still waiting. - 4 months ago

In Washington state , last year , avista ( hydro damns ) asked the government to make the windfarms shut down , because we 14% more energy than we needed ... We do not need nuclear at all . With just a small effort , we would not need oil either .

That is good advice . I had purchased a fair amount of kelp before the leak , so we have been using that , also modified fruit pectin , pulls out certain particles ( this learned from Chernoybl ) If i could afford it , i would get black mica extract .. to supposedly pull radio active particles out of drinking water .
