    • Guilty of being black on a sunny day

The comedian Franklyn Ajai used to do a routine where he said he and a friend were harassed and arrested by the police for being outside and black on a sunny day. At the trial he told his friend to be cool and go with it because what else could they do, after all they were guilty. "Your honor, I tried to tell my friend the sun was coming out..."

Now if you chuckled you're either a minority or very astute. If you're bewildered, indifferent or indignant you not only don't get it you're most likely part of the problem.

    • CBS edits McCain gaffe on Iraq

In an interview with Katie Curic this evening Sen. McCain, in response to Sen. Obama's assertion that conditions may have improved in Iraq regardless of the surge, claimed the Sunni awakening that pitted them against the Al Qaeda insurrection happened as a result of the surge. Stating it was a simple matter of historic fact McCain feigned to not understand how Obama could make such a gaffe. The only problem, or rather the latest problem, is the surge hadn't happened when the Sunnis turned against Al Qaeda in Iraq. In an interview with Katie Curic this evening Sen. • Tending the Back 40 vs Democracy

Ever wonder why we hold major elections onTuesdays? It's pretty much the same reason we have summer vacation from school and day light savings time in some areas. It was all designed to help farmers tend to their crops. Given the vast majority of us don't even mow our lawns these days a change in format that would make it easier for the majority to vote would seem in order. Of course lesser turn out tends to benefit weaker politicians (fewer people to fool possibly) so the movement has had trouble gaining traction. Ever wonder why we hold major elections onTuesdays? • Crystal Ball or Common Sense

Sen. Barack Obama touted setting a timetable for leaving Iraq and beefing up forces in Afghanistan a full year ahead of anyone else. While others were beating the faux patriotic drum wrapped in the flag Obama was breaking it down with actual straight talk.

The humorous aspect is watching the current administration and the presumptive Republican nominee try to spin the affirmation of Sen. Obama's foreign policy credentials by the President of the country we're occupying. It's hard to drive the "Straight Talk Express" straight with all the wheels spinning in different directions.

    • Clinton vows to fight insulting abortion plan

A Bush administration plan to define several widely used contraception methods as abortion is a "gratuitous, unnecessary insult" to women and faces tough opposition, Sen. Hillary Clinton said on Friday.

The former Democratic presidential candidate joined family planning groups to condemn the proposal that defines abortion to include contraception such as birth control pills and intrauterine devices.

It would cut off federal funds to hospitals and states where medical providers are obligated to offer legal abortion and contraception to women.

"We will not put up with this radical, ideological agenda to turn the clock back on women's rights," the New York senator told a joint news conference with New York Rep. Nita Lowey, also a Democrat, at Bellevue Hospital.

"Women would watch their contraceptive coverage disappear overnight," said Clinton.

The planned rule is aimed at countering recent state laws enacted to ensure that women can get contraception when they want or need it. It also would help protect the rights of medical providers to refuse to offer contraception.

Clinton said she has written a letter with Patty Murray, a Democrat senator from Washington, to Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt asking him to reconsider and reject the release of the proposed rules.

She also urged people to sign a petition on her website, www.hillpac.com, against the proposed changes.

    • I stand together with Hillary Clinton’s 18 million voters

Come August 25th At the DNC Convention it will be time for a roll call vote to take place. This has taken place for the last 10 Conventions and Hillary with the popular vote and the electoral count has the right to have this vote. Also she still has all her delegates. SO BOYS AND GIRLS THE GAMES NOT OVER TILL THE CONVENTION AND EVEN THEN ON THE BALLOTS WE CAN WRITE HILLARY"S NAME IN! ! !

So anyone that is tried of a candidate ( Obama) that says one thing and does something else. That just this month voted for Bush's bill to spy on the American's in a vote with the republicans, that Hillary Clinton voted against it! But due to the republicans it passed just like the Bush-Cheeney Enegry bill that Obama voted for and pocketed money $150,000.00. That Hillary voted against also! Come August we can do something about who we want as President. Here is your chance you've seen the truth. Now do what is right for this country and for the future of those on Medicare and your future. VOTE FOR HILLARY! IT IS NOT TO LATE!

On Saturday, June 7, 2008, Hillary Clinton suspended her historic campaign for President. To her 18 million voters, it may have seemed like an end, but I pledge to make it a beginning… a beginning of a movement to achieve the democratic and just country that Hillary has envisioned for America.

I stand together with Hillary Clinton’s 18 million voters to demand that Senator Ob and the Democratic Party:

      * Bring us together by seating 100% of the Florida and Michigan delegations in Denver with 100% of their votes, allocated in accordance with the popular vote of each state.
      * Bring us together by adopting policies on the Platform Committee that Hillary Clinton has championed.
      * Bring us together through reform of the primary and caucus system to reflect the basic principle of one person/one vote.
      * Bring us together through outspoken denunciation of all gender bias, racism and other forms of discrimination.
      * Bring us together by fairly and respectfully including Hillary and her supporters at the Democratic National Convention in Denver by, among other things, placing her name in nomination for President, conducting a roll call vote, and providing her a prominent speaking role during prime time on August 26th, the 88th anniversary of women’s suffrage.

I own my vote. It does not belong to any party. It does not belong to any candidate. It does not belong to any mob that would impose its will on me. Only I can decide how to use my vote, and I can decide based on any criteria I choose. Therefore I pledge not to give my vote to anyone who does not earn it.

      Barack Obama

      1. supported a domestic wiretapping bill he promised to filibuster,
      2. announced that he supports the use of the death penality in non-homicide cases,
      3. declared that a woman's mental distress should not be taken into account as a reason for performing third trimester abortions, and
      4. sided with the Supreme Court's decision to strike down gun control laws.

Hillary voted opposite of his votes. Hillary votes before Obama votes in the Senate due to roll call.

I will still vote for Hillary come Election Day! If I have to write her name in!

    • New Rasmussen Poll Shows Hillary Does Better Against McCain

For what ever reason Rasmussen decided to throw in Hillary to see how she would fare against McCain. Here are the results. These numbers help explain why Election 2008 is competitive even though events so heavily favor the Democrats -- because the Republicans are on course to nominate their strongest possible general election candidate but the Democrats are not.

    • Middle Eastern Solidarity in Tribute to the French

Arch rivals gather near the Arc de Triomphe and share a stage in honor of France's Bastille Day celebrations. France marks the 219th year since the people, tired of oppression and the corrupt aristocracy, stormed the prison to release political prisoners and arm themselves in revolt.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and many others joined President Sarkozy in celebration of France's nation event. France has been making a concerted effort in the struggle for peace in the Middle East and this display suggest at least a modicum of progress.

    • Obama backers on the left are doing the wincing now

Greedily, they drained the kegs once full of sweet Obama Kool-Aid, drained them to the dregs and mopped up the remains with stale crusts. The inevitable happened—the pain that comes as everything finally becomes clear, in the rosy-fingered light of a terrible dawn.

Obama used them to crush the Clintons, but now the left is finally realizing it's been betrayed, on issue after issue, with Obama changing his positions in order to defeat a tired and disillusioned Republican Party in November.

They're at the dance now and he's the one with the keys and he's the only ride they've got. And they don't like it.

    • Night and Day

Sen. Barack Obama finally has something he's been missing in his historic quest for the presidency - contrast. The Senator from Illinois is making the most of the stark differences between himself and his opponent Sen. McCain. Where he was relegated to finesse and tempered tepid dodge and parry tactics with Sen. Clinton he can reek havoc and let slip the dogs of war on the Senator from Arizona.

Obama is going to town pointing out the many differences and tying Bush to McCain as much as humanly possible along the way. On health care, abortion, the economy, foreign policy and of course Iraq the two opponents are as different as night and day. Sen. McCain is unwittingly playing into Sen. Obama's strengths by virtue of his politics alone. In an election driven by change Sen. Obama has chosen the perfect platform for his campaign.
