Recession schmession. A group of investors thinks American consumers will cough up $35 for a movie ticket at a new chain of luxury cinemas. The team of companies partnered up and plan on spending $200 million to build 50 posh theaters nationwide. The first two theaters featuring reclining armchair seats with footrests, digital projection, a lounge and bar, a concierge service and valet parking will open in the ritzy Chicago suburb of South Barrington.

Pilot's gun fires on US Airways flight
A gun belonging to the pilot of a US Airways plane discharged as the aircraft was on approach to land in North Carolina over the weekend, the first time a weapon issued under a federal program to arm pilots was fired, authorities said Monday.
"We know that there was never any danger to the aircraft or to the occupants on board," Alter said.
The firing is the first time a pilot's weapon has been fired on a plane under a program created after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks to allow pilots, for example, to use a firearm to defend against any act of air piracy or criminal violence, he said. British Store Halts Sale of 'Lolita' bed
Woolworths stores in the UK are halting sales on the 'Lolita' bed aimed at young girls.
I'm not sure which is more disturbing--that someone actually though this was a good thing to sell in the first place, or that the Woolworth's spokesman claimed that there "aren't many people in the company, in the whole world, who know about the 'Lolita' book or films."

Man Texting While Driving Hits Train
OK, I get hitting another car or something while texting and driving, but a train? Dood should not be texting while driving, never a smart move.
"When Robert Gillespie looked up from his text message, he saw a freight train. EOM. ("End of message," that is, for non-texters.)" OK, I get hitting another car or something while texting and driving, but a train? Dood should not be texting while driving, never a ... more -
Backstreet's Back, Alright!
"But how do the Backstreet Boys, the first, if not best, of the all-male pop groups to dominate the latter half of the '90s and early '00s, fit in among the roster of current hitmakers? The niche the group helped pioneer is slim, if not altogether nonexistent. Can they remain relevant to a new generation of consumers as well as to one-time fans who might have moved on?"

I guess they don't have the same racial sensitivities in Europe that we have here. I wonder if that is a good thing or a bad thing.
