A Premature Burning
The Man is on fire! Most Burners were enjoying the lunar eclipse when people started to notice smoke and flames coming from the infamous Man, positioned in the middle of the Black Rock City. Officials were on site immediately to combat the flames while onlookers cheered "Save the Man". Eventually the fire was put out and the Man was safe once again albeit very badly charred. These first hand accounts shed some light on the fire but more importantly help to describe the indomitable spirit that lies within the people of Burning Man. The Man is on fire! The Burning of the Windmills -- Burning Man 2005
The Quixotic (quick-sot-ic) Project was founded in 2005 by two dozen people in the Metro Detroit area, and about another dozen from across the country. That year we headed from Detroit to the Black Rock desert outside Reno, Nv at the BURNING MAN festival to build three 20' Dutch style Windmills. Amid dust storms and 70 mph winds we took three moving embodiments of peoples fears and nightmares and burnt them down in a mad rush of knights with flaming lances. Businesses in Brighton are fed up with the postal services currently on offer and have decided to take the initiative and set up their own scheme. The scheme is now up and running for parcel post but needs more interest from businesses to launch the letter post service.
,,,,,,,,This is trend that I hope will continue. It is up to individuals to effect change at grass roots level. The Royal Mail becomming the Post Office only to be sold off was wrong, maybe we Brits have become to lazy and complacent the further away from the World Wars we get.

Early Burner gets prison sentence.
The man who burned the man early at last year's Burning Man, has been sentenced to up to four years.
'Paul Addis pleaded guilty in May to one felony count of injury to property stemming from the burning of the 40-foot icon on Aug. 28 - four days earlier than planned. He was ordered to pay $30,000 in restitution.'
