    • 1000 Journals in San Francisco

The 1000 Journals Project was started in San Francisco, in the summer of 2000, eight years ago. And now we're coming back to San Francisco, after our wonderful run at the San Francisco International Film Festival, to show the film for a week at the Roxie Theater. This is quite a milestone in the life of the documentary: our first theatrical booking, with hopefully more to come across the country.

If you live in San Francisco, please come and join us at the Roxie, and bring your friends. If you know folks in S.F., please tell them. We'll show journals during the opening weekend, and are around to answer questions.

1000 Journals opens on Friday, August 1st, 2008.

The showtimes are every day at 7:00 and 8:50 PM, and additionally,
Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday at 2:30 and 4:45 PM.

    • COMPLETED: Ask Beastie Boys Adam Yauch anything...

Adam "MCA" Yauch is coming to Current to talk about his doc, "Gunnin' for That #1 Spot," and this is your chance to ask him that question burning in your loins or head or wherever.

When posting, make sure you include name/age/location, plus an icon image, preferably of yourself.

Webcam/video questions get extra consideration when being selected for TV.

He can't answer 'em all, so make it good! And the segment is called "The Current Question," so try to keep it to one question per post please!

Message me with any questions, thanks!

    • Dutch MP called for ban on the Koran

Geert Wilders, Dutch MP has finally released his controversial film about Islam.

TV companies are refusing to broadcast Wilders' documentary. There were protests in the Netherlands before its internet release and some politicians in the Netherlands are trying to ban the film all together.

Fast Fact courtesy of the BBC:
Nicknamed "Mozart" because of his mane of platinum blond hair, he was voted politician of the year in 2007 by the Dutch political press, partly because of his "well-timed one-liners".

What do you think about the protests and negative response Geert's film has recieved, not only by Muslims, but by the majority of people living in the Netherlands?

    • You're such Beautiful Losers

It's the last day of the film festival here in SXSW :(. But don't despair, it's ok, the music festival starts today, hurray! I've been seeing some great films, including Aaron Rose and Joshua Leonard's film, Beautiful Losers. If you're a fan of graffiti and crazy graphic art, this is the right film for you as it follows the rise of a group of artists inspired by the subcultures in their town.

It's worth watching just to see Harmony Korine scare some children with stories of severed heads!

    • I'm watching Living with the Tudors at SXSW

I'm taking a break from VC2 UK to visit SXSW festival in Austin and watch some films. I'm sat in the Alamo cinema in Austin waiting for Living with the Tudors to start. (It's a great cinema, you can order food and they bring it to you while you're watching the movie!)

Karen Guthrie, co-director of Living with the Tudors, is here in Austin and has been showing true dedication by donning her tudor dress to promote the film around town! If you're here, you should definitely try and take in a screening.

      Here's the synopsis:

After 4 years of participation as costumed historical re-enactors, Karen Guthrie & Nina Pope were given unprecedented access with their cameras to the UK's oldest and largest historical re-enactment at Kentwell Hall in rural Suffolk. Among the 500 volunteers spending their summer holidays re-creating every conceivable walk of 16th century English life, they met a core of fiercely loyal and protective re-enactors whose real life stories form a fascinating counterpoint to their chosen 16th century roles: they include Tissy, a former airline security guard who becomes the serene 'lady of the manor'; Danny, a disaffected teenager who transforms into the gentlemanly and rather camp Master Riece, and Sue, a solicitor who never wants to leave the manor.Shepherding through the thousands of paying visitors who keep Kentwell afloat, is owner Patrick Phillips, a distantly paternal leader who describes the epic spectacles as his 'games'.Shot over an idyllic English summer, this refined portrait shows us what these secretive enthusiasts are escaping from - and to.

    • Current // OM7 Filmz and Omega7Rexordz

      Greetings all:
Om7 Filmz and Omega7Rexordz does videograpy, sound design and album content hip-hop for a variety of small film companies and radio broadcast. This years' focus was on a documentary produced on Complex Post Truamatic Stress Disorder, the ablum URDED2m3 by M2o and publishing the book; "I'm happier than a big bowl of Oranges."
No project too small nor shoe string budget that we can't work on to get you the results we've had in just last year alone, so give us a try.

      Case in point:

The crisis documentary that has been accepted in this years; XXIII. BLACK INTERNATIONAL CINEMA BERLIN/GERMANY, WARSAW/POLAND & USA 2008: Tho’Wayz, (Thrown Away) - is a story within a story to find the truth of my father James Jaggers; one of many fathers. In January of 2007, it would be 16 years since I had spoken to anyone of family, let alone, reminded of such.

It would be 45 years aforementioned, that I’d learn of 3 additional sibs. This I had to learn lastly, from my sister, Jacquie. And of one, who as a baby was left in a bus station, never, to be seen again.

It was through the grace of Jah that I flew back east, trying to understand how a caregiver denies such actions, and thinking that there would be no wounds from neglectful infliction? When the child becomes an adult, are they psychological time bombs under the duress of CPTSD? Is CPTSD a plausible explanation as to why this nations’ prison population is near capacity and yet, grossly under diagnosed? Did birthright matter in a broken home of mixed colors and names?

Though in obscure cases, it is taboo to air the “business” of the home, let alone a secretive condemnation that continues to follow the traits of slavery.
Even in biblical verse, does its victims often seek closure from abusive relationships that offered, selective nurturing. This is our story: Tho’Wayz, (Thrown Away). This is how the rooster came home to roost.

      And we make beats, too!

Canada is in the middle of a CANCER EPIDEMIC! Meet the people who were not allowed to testify on Rick's behalf at the Supreme Court of Canada's Infamous Rick Simpson Trial on September 10, 2007... INCLUDING A MAN WHO WAS CURED OF TERMINAL CANCER USING HEMP OIL!
