    • Watchmen Subplot DVD to Coincide with Main Theatrical Release

Warner Bros. has plans to release a DVD side film in concert with the main theatrical release of its "Watchmen" superhero film. Much like Wes Anderson's "Hotel Chevalier," the free-to-download 13-minute prologue film to "The Darjeeling Limited," Watchmen's “Tales of the Black Freighter” will buttress interest for the Watchmen film and DVD sales in a slumping market. This week's New Yorker features a great profile about Ernie Colón and Sid Jacobson's renewed collaborations on turning the 9/11 Commission Report into a graphic novel. Colón and Jacobson, who are in their seventies, have been a long-time creative team producing titles such as Casper the Friendly Ghost, Richie Rich, Little Audrey and Little Dot for Harvey Comics. They have also continued their work in comics for both D.C. Comics and Marvel Comics. Check out Mark Singer's profile of Colón and Jacobson's adaptation of the 9/11 Commission Report. Kaa-pow!

    • Video: Wrist-mounted flame thrower, Marvel powers

When Everett Bradford flicks his middle finger, jets of fire shoot out of the palm of his hand. He's built himself a fully-functional, wrist-mounted flame thrower that turns him into the real-life equivalent of the Pyro, the firestarting mutant from the X-Men. In the first video, Bradford gives a quick demo of what his "Pyro" system can do. In the next two, he shows how he put the device together -- and gave himself straight-outta-Marvel powers. When Everett Bradford flicks his middle finger, jets of fire shoot out of the palm of his hand. He's built himself a fully-functional,... more
