Super fine hemp to rival traditional wool
A Western Australian farmer hopes to export super-fine 'baby hemp' that he claims gives merino wool a run for its money.
Kim Hough is growing hemp at a time of the year when it grows quicker and has longer fibres than conventional hemp, making it ideal for the premium textile market.
He says the export market is keen.
"A lot of people get the wrong idea that hemp is coarse like your bags and things," he says.
"Now hemp has been refined to an extraordinary degree and now we're looking at super-fine fibres with the baby hemp.

Chengdu to outlaw abuse of panda images
The bid for legislation to protect panda images comes in the wake of some controversial uses of panda iconography which have got Chinese citizens hot under the collar.
Self-styled panda artist Zhao Bandi outraged many with his Bandi-Panda fashion show at China Fashion Week in Beijing earlier this month, sparking nationwide concerns that the so-called conceptual art creation abused the panda's decent image of being a friendly and cute symbol.
Zhao, who always wears a cap that makes him look like a panda cub on his head, is frequently accompanied at media events by a clutch of scantily-clad panda girls - dressed in the sexy style of bunny girls, but with panda-eared wigs instead of bunny-eared ones.
"I'm a king in the panda's world. You see these panda girls are my concubines," he said modestly in an interview with sina.com, a popular web portal in China on Thursday.
At the Beijing fashion parade Zhao used panda imagery in each of his creations. He said he used panda images as "a medium to present different clothing styles of Chinese social classes and social issues."
"There is no meaningful links between panda and these figures that Zhao depicted in his fashion design. He just uses panda as a commercial stunt," was a comment typical of many found on Internet messageboards.
The Chengdu Municipal Committee of the National People's Congress, in west China's Sichuan province, on Friday confirmed the receipt of the planned law, jointly outlined by the municipal bureaus of forestry, parks and woods.
If passed, it would become the world's first panda law.
Zhao told the media that it was "unexpected" news to hear that his fashion concept might be outlawed by the legislation.

No fat, no cellulite, but bigger boobs = curvier underwear models
Eva Mendes is starring in the ad campaign for Calvin Klein's new line of underwear for "curvaceous women". Now, I think she is a beautiful woman and I have seen her looking curvy in some movies, but I just don't see that here. Just because she has bigger breasts than the usual anorexic models and (pre)pubescent girls that Calvin Klein uses doesn't make her curvier. In comparison with most American women Ms. Mendes is nowhere near curvy, and she is a celebrity who gets photo-shopped (I assume, to look thinner than she really is).
My question is, why do designers and advertisers try to sell us products that are supposedly for curvy ladies, then use women who can only be the most idealized versions of our bodies - a.k.a. boobs and maybe hips, but fit and lean with no fat whatsoever? It's The Law: No Sagging Pants In Chicago Suburb
Be careful if you have saggy pants in the south Chicago suburb of Lynwood. Village leaders have passed an ordinance that would levy $25 fines against anyone showing three inches or more of their underwear in public.
