    • Doctor Who composer's stash of hidden tracks

A collection of music recordings composed by the creator of the pioneering Doctor Who theme tune, which has been stashed away in an attic since the 1960s, has been unveiled for the first time. The experimental tracks were laid down by Delia Derbyshire, and include a dance track so ahead of its time Paul Hartnoll of dance group Orbital has said it could be 'coming out next week on Warp Records'.

Delia Derbyshire was employed in the BBC's Radiophonic Workshop in 1963 when she was given the score for a theme tune to the new science fiction series. She turned the pages of dots into the powerful, idiosyncratic Doctor Who title music we know today - although it is the score's author, Ron Grainer, who is credited as the composer.

Listen to some of the uncovered tracks at the link.

    • Jason Knight Releases "Thermal EP"

Thermal, Jason Knight’s second release on Keyframe Records, embarks on a new sound for this seasoned producer. With his production firmly grounded in trance, Jason takes his love for techno and electro and unites the sounds together to bring what DJ’s and producers are defining as the new sound of tech trance. Hard, tight bass lines fill the lower spectrum of audio, while Jason’s signature contemporary techno stabs fill out the rest of the sound.

What defines the music found on Thermal is Jason’s attention to composition. Thermal captures his ability to effectively compose tracks from beginning to end, creating a story that tempts the listener into a state of dance and exploration, rather than looping samples in hopes of grabbing them.

      RELEASE DATE:
      March 28th, 2008

    • Drum & Bass Pioneer Grooverider sentenced to 4 Years in prison

He was traveling through Dubai on the way to a gig and was searched at the airport. There is a zero tolerance policy in Dubai and under UAE law drug trafficking carries a sentence ranging from four years jail to death.

“I must have forgotten the spliff,” Grooverider said in an interview last month. “It was a small amount. Back home I would not even get prosecuted.”

Grooverider is considered one of the top drum & Bass DJ's/producers in the history of the genre.

We have a long way to go as a society and as humanity when we find it reasonable to sentence good people to jail for four years for possession of enough weed for a couple joints.

    • Balkan beats

Is Balkan dance music the next big thing? I certainly hope not. I want it to continue along as a bizarre sub-strain. I'm worried that if it gets too popular they'll like take the tuba out or something. Right now it sounds like a weird transmission from some parallel alternate-history universe, and I like it that way.

So, download these tracks, but keep it quiet.

I don't know much about the artist except that T2 is a producer from Leeds. England's Timbaland?

This song, "Heartbroken" was released sometime in November of 2007 but as usual America is slow on catching up with our friends across the pond. I thought I'd help by introducing this hot dance song.

      Even Rye Rye recommends it!

    • Jason Knight/Coda ready their Afterburners

Coda and Love Potion Evolution are joining together to bring the spirit of burning man back to San Francisco - renegade style. An incredible, one time opportunity to take over a space in the heart of San Francisco opened up and we jumped on it. Inspired by the energy brought back from the playa both camps are committed to providing a solid event.

This is an all-nighter folks, so come prepared to dance your ass off until the sun rises - we have no reason to stop! The space is amazing and allows us to provide multiple rooms of music and chill, along with a cash bar flowing all night long.

Music will be provided by Coda residents Jason Knight, Deckard, Jeff Richmond and Ron/e as well as a few 'special guests' making appearances behind the decks throughout the evening. The Love Potion crew are pulling out all the decor stops by bringing along their art car rig to dazzle us in LED!

Afterburner is also the FiX 2 year anniversary 'Official After Party', so all you FiXers who want to get BroKe, head on over and join the rest of us round out the night. The location is just a hop skip and a jump away from Shine.

The proceeds will be going to both camps to pay off their 2007 Burning Man debt. We would like to invite all of our friends and family and also extend this invitation to the people who partied and shared the burning man experience with us this year.

For more information about the event and to find out the location, stop back frequently to the site: http://www.codasf.com/afterburner
