Iran releases "Beyond Fitna" film in response to controversial Wilders anti-Islam ...
Iranian authorities have posted a film on the Internet designed as a riposte to a controversial anti-Koran documentary by the far-right Dutch politician, Geert Wilders. (The above is just part one of 2 parts of the film)
The whole film is available on the sites: www.ngoic.com, www.youtube.com, and www.videogoogle.com.
The new documentary, entitled "Beyond Fitna", was directed by a group of Iranian filmmakers and produced by the 'Non-Governmental Organization Islam and Christianity' said 'Beyond Fitna' deals with incitement of violence in the Bible. Muslims believe that the book deemed holy by Christians today is a distorted version of the original Bible.
'Beyond Fitna' focuses on the orders given to worldwide Christians in the (distorted version of) Bible for stoking violence, committing genocide, attacking others, beheading and burning women and children who have been taken into captivity.
During Ramadan we can expect another response to Wilders movie from Pakistan.

Dutch imams promoting 'shared' values
Imams in Dutch mosques usually preach the same virtues & values in their sermons commonly accepted by other Dutch people (which is important) according to a recent study.
Fred Leemhuis, professor of Arabic at Groningen University points out:
"The image of Dutch imams is based on comments by two or three radical salafi [fundamentalist] Imams, who continually turn up in the media. We wanted to find out what Dutch mainstream imams are really preaching. And, in particular, which virtues they're commending to their congregations."
SERMONS ANALYSED
The sermons of six randomly chosen Dutch Imams from different ethnic backgrounds who were also extensively interviewed were analysed by Mr Leemhuis & Anand Blank. The study shows that the opinions of the imams are very moderate and hardly differ from those of other Dutch people.
"What is noticeable about the sermons of the imams is that a large majority represent a kind of moderate middle-of-the-road orthodoxy. Not extreme either one way or the other."
ORIENTATED TOWARDS NETHERLANDS
The study showed the imams are more orientated towards Netherlands as they come up with the same problems and solve them in the same way. They also use the same sources when they write their sermons. Mr Leemhuis cites an example in the shape of the book entitled: 'Gardens of the virtuous people'.
"A beautiful, pious collection of stories about the life of the prophet Mohammed which is also available in Dutch."
SAME VIRTUES
According to Mr Leemhuis the virtues that the Imams present to their audiences are the same as the ones that score high among other groups of Dutch people: respect, consideration, reliability and openness.
Two virtues stand out in their sermons: the necessity of good neighbourliness and showing respect towards others.
"Most imams say in their sermons and in interviews that the main thing is to be a good neighbour."
SHARED OPINIONS
Mr Leemhuis believes the shared opinions of Muslims and other Dutch people about virtuous behaviour provide a good opportunity for Dutch politics:
"If you want to promote the integration of Dutch Muslims and non-Muslims, you have to emphasise the things they have in common and things they can identify with."

Czech Muslims organise to screen controversial Dutch anti-Quran film
Yup... suprisingly the first time the film played in Czech was actually organised by the Muslim community themselfs and infact they are planning even more screenings across the country.
So why did the Brno Islamic Foundation hold a public screening on Monday night? Munib Hassan Alrawi is the organisation’s head says:
“First of all we wanted to show that Muslims are ready to accept criticism and they are open to any kind of discussion. Second, we wanted to point out the film is biased and challenge the arguments presented in the film. We also wanted to make it clear whether we agree with what some the Muslims in the film are saying.”
They also screened another film:
“We also screened a film called Schism, which was made in reaction to this film. It was made by a Muslim and it is structured in the same way as Fitna: it takes extracts from the Bible and links them to the killings of Iraqi people by Western soldiers. The author of Schism openly admits at the end of his film that this is not the right thing to do. So we condemn Fitna and we also condemn any kind of links between Christianity and violence.”
Dutch Muslim leaders appealed for calm in response to the Dutch film and a Pakistani lawmaker will fund a movie to rebut the anti-Quran film likely to be released during Ramadan.

Pakistanis protest Dutch anti-Quran film
"Dozens staged an angry protest in Pakistan on Friday in response to a Dutch lawmaker's anti-Quran film, but Dutch Muslims appealed for calm and said it was less inflammatory than they had feared.
The 15-minute film by Geert Wilders, posted on a Web site late Thursday, sets verses of the Quran against a montage of images from terrorist attacks and rhetoric from Muslim clergymen urging ``jihad,'' or holy war. Dutch Embrace Floods
Natural disasters have a way of shattering complacency. Earthquakes bring new building codes; hurricanes prompt evacuation planning. But what about a disaster that unfolds over 50 or 100 years? Sea level rise accompanying global warming is one such gradual peril, leading low-lying coastal countries to worry: How do you get people to focus on an enormous but slow-moving threat? Dutch leaders now must rethink their thousand-year strategy of fighting back the water that threatens them.
