Kristin Shares Her Secret Life And Obsession With Food: Binge Eating Disorder Expo...
Kristin hid her binge eating disorder for a few years from me (yes, I'm her husband). In fact, she hid it from everyone. After a lot of trial and error, she finally beat her disorder a few years ago, and she's been helping others overcome Binge Eating Disorder ever since.
We decided to create a short video about her struggles and showed the food she ate during a typical binge in an effort to reach out and help more people.
Binge Eating is the # 1 eating disorder in the US. It's also the most lonely. I'm really proud of how far my wife has come and amazed at how many people she's helped overcome Binge Eating as well.
Kristin (my wife) is the one in the video and I'm the one recording it and talking to her in the video.

Chop Socky Chooks
Thoughts on this? I found this after a trip to the local Jack in the Box with my kids, and the toys are promoting this show. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the origin of the name "Chooks"? It sounds so patently racist to me (pardon my saying, 'chink' and 'gook') that this can't be where they got it. This is being marketed to little kids too, so I'm wondering what the message is we're sending with this material?? Thoughts on this? Teflon - Where's the Ban?
It takes ten years to get this stuff out of our bodies - and it's been found in every-BODY that has been tested. Yet - it's still out there - for sale? What? It has been used in fast food takeout containers because it keeps the food from soaking through and sticking. It's everywhere. Wisconsin city may ban fast food drive-throughs, environmental concerns
First it was a proposed ban on plastic bags.
Now, a member of the influential Madison Plan Commission wants to ban the restaurant drive-through -- or at least restrict the ubiquitous symbol of America's auto-centric lifestyle.
"Given the concern about all the carbon going into the atmosphere, I'm not sure we should be building more places for people to sit idling in their cars," says Eric Sundquist, who was appointed to the citizen panel by Mayor Dave Cieslewicz this spring...

Does It Really Matter Who Sits in the Oval Office?
It's been obvious to me for decades that the people who sit in the hot seat (Clinton, Blair, Bush) don't really make any decisions or run the country. There is a far more powerful and sinister group behind everything that happens in the world - the skyrocketing price of gas and food, the poisoning of our food with high fructose corn syrup, fat, salt and sugar, chemicals, bioengineering, genetic manipuplation. My theory is the power people tried to control the masses with street drugs for a while and realized it costs too much to control the crime that spun out from them. So, now they'll just keep us fat, lazy and in a haze with junk food and no nutrients to feed our brains and bodies - and many folks are fine with that - eat KFC, McBuggers, candy, coloa and sit in a vegetative state in front of the computer or TV. This makes it so much easier to keep us quiet and in control.

Finally! A burger built for 6 (but will probably be eaten by 1)
You know all those times when you’re like “Damn, I would love to get some burgers for the whole family, but I don’t want to order them individually,” so, you order a pizza instead? Yeah, me neither. But apparently, Burger King thinks we’re all having a whole lot of these moments as they’re going to start offering a six-pack of burgers in an attempt to compete with the pizza market.
How does a six-pack of burgers differ from six individual burgers? Glad you asked.
The rolls of the six burgers will be stuck together, so to grab a burger, you’ll have to tear one off. Just like when you grab a piece of pizza. And just like you can order a pizza half cheese/half pepperoni (or whatever your tastes enjoy), one pair of these burgers will be topped with ketchup, another with cheese, and another with bacon and cheese.
Unfortunately, these burgers are only launching in the UK, Germany, and Spain. Let’s hope and pray that they do well over there so that they come here soon. Until then, I guess we’re just going to be stuck ordering pizza when we’re craving a shared meal. Or drinking a six-pack of beer. That could work too. You know all those times when you’re like “Damn, I would love to get some burgers for the whole family, but I don’t want to order them... more -

Mindless Munching
First, ask yourself how hungry you are, on a scale of 1 (ravenous) to 7 (stuffed). Next, take time to appreciate the food on your plate. Notice the colors and textures. Take a bite. Slowly experience the tastes on your tongue. Put down your fork and savor. "Most people don't think about what they're eating -- they're focusing on the next bite," says Sasha Loring, a psychotherapist at Duke Integrative Medicine, First, ask yourself how hungry you are, on a scale of 1 (ravenous) to 7 (stuffed). What we really put into our bodies.
What does the restaurant industry have to hide? One of the true issues behind obesity is the fact that many chain restaurants — which provide one-third of all restaurant meals, according to the New York Department of Health — obfuscate the fat and calorie counts of their menu items, and fight any attempt to shed light on what, exactly, is going on between their buns and inside their taco shells.
Through scientific testing, consultations with nutrition experts, and good old-fashioned snooping, we uncovered some of the secrets these mega-restaurateurs have been keeping.
It's no wonder . . .
