How do I choose the right bank, savings and loan or credit union?
Deciding on a banking relationship is becoming more complex every day.
Foremost, your deposits should be FDIC-insured. Use Bank Find at http://www.fdic.gov to discover whether a bank is covered by the FDIC.
Next, decide on whether you want a national, regional or community bank or an Internet-only bank. Each comes with trade-offs. A national bank may provide extensive ATM access but may lack in personal service. A community bank can provide personal service but may be limited in its online capabilities. An Internet-only bank may offer attractive interest rates but have higher ATM fees.
Finally, when possible, meet the bank manager at the branch where most of your banking will take place. Determine the services you will use most often. Understand the fees associated with each service and work with the manager to establish the accounts most appropriate to your needs.
In view of the recent turmoil in the financial sector, the most important thing to look for is a bank that is fiscally sound. You can look up the ratings for any bank at this Web site:
http://www.bankrate.com/brm/safesound/select.asp?instty.... Be certain your deposits are fully insured by the FDIC.
Look for competitive interest rates on checking and savings deposits. A bank with an extensive network of ATMs can save you a significant amount over time. Some banks (especially Internet banks) offer cards that can be used free of charge at any ATM in the country, even worldwide. Compare maintenance and service fees on accounts as well; these small fees can add up. Deciding on a banking relationship is becoming more complex every day. ... more -

Anger in the office -- it hurts women more - CNN.com
Although this article suggests that women get mad more often than men at work, it isn't gender specific completely and provides ways to avoid getting mad at work. It goes on to say that women who do express anger at work were viewed as less competent and should explain why they are upset instead of staying angry. Preening Receivers, Hard Hitters and Those Rare Shut-Down Corners
It was a receiver who first spiked a football and a receiver who first thought to dance in the end zone. Many years later, it was a receiver who set down his life story in a book that might have been better regarded had it not been called “Just Give Me the Damn Ball!” and had its author, Keyshawn Johnson, not just completed his rookie year. This off-season, Chad Johnson, the Bengals’ excellent wide receiver did everything short of the death scene from “Giselle” to telegraph his unhappiness with his team.
What is it with wide receivers? Why does the position attract so many towering egotists?“They’re divas,” says Dr. Joel Goldberg, the former psychologist for the New York Giants. “It’s unlike anything else in football. You’re by yourself. You’re not part of the team.”
It’s true that the position is well suited to both solipsists and showoffs. Not only do its practitioners often come from flashier individual sports like track, but they’re also left dangling at the field’s edge, locked in single combat with a defensive back. “Imagine me running a pattern,” says Elmo Wright, a receiver who spent four years with the Kansas City Chiefs in the early 1970s. “I make a break to the middle, and those few seconds that the ball is in the air, my life is on the line. The defensive back is gonna separate me from the ball. You think you would have some pent-up frustrations?”
It’s Wright who has been credited with football’s first end-zone dance, a high-stepping number he debuted in his junior year at the University of Houston, in 1969, after the N.C.A.A. banned the spike. And so was born the wide receiver as performance artist. Since then, the end-zone celebration has become a handy (if overblown) symbol of wide receiver excess and of the modern N.F.L. in general, which owes as much to Don Cornelius as it does to Curly Lambeau.
Story continued at link... It was a receiver who first spiked a football and a receiver who first thought to dance in the end zone. Many years later, it was a re... more -
