Dinosaurs Now in Color!
Researchers have found pigments in fossilized feathers, opening the possibility of finding out the colors of animals extinct long ago. Can you imagine pink and striped dinosaurs? That is probably a bit of a stretch but by finding out their true color we will be able to know more about their surrounding environment throughand possibly some courtship rituals. See Sounds, Hear Colors
How does violin music smell? What does the reflection of trees in a lake sound like? What color is Thursday? To most people, these questions might seem completely nonsensical, but to people with synesthesia they sound perfectly reasonable. Synesthesia is a perceptual condition in which there is an involuntary blending of one or more of the senses. The most common form is chromagraphemia, the associating of colors with numbers and letters -- but the sense--mingling can get a lot weirder. A synesthete might see moving blobs of color when tasting foods, or taste specific flavors upon hearing certain words.
Once dismissed as a product of an overly active imagination, artistic fancy, drug use or even just craziness, synesthesia is finally being recognized as having a biological basis. PhD candidate Bryan Alvarez will show us his research on this condition and also share his life as a person living with this condition. How does violin music smell? What does the reflection of trees in a lake sound like? What color is Thursday? To most people, these que... more -

Black pets need love too
A promotion by the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter to boost the adoption of black-coated dogs and cats has drawn criticism for being racially insensitive.
The shelter has halted its "Black is Beautiful" Week after the president of the Austin chapter of the NAACP raised concerns in the media. They had planned to reduce adoption fees for black-coated animals to $25 for a week. The normal fee for adoption is $85.
Nelson Linder, president of the Austin NAACP, said it was a "violation" to use "Black is Beautiful" as a promotion for an animal shelter and that the shelter was right to halt the promotion. The phrase became popular during the 1960s civil rights movement as a way to promote equality and African American self-esteem.
Black-coated animals do not get adopted as quickly as other animals. Either out of superstition or fear that they might be a more aggressive dog, they tend to be underadopted.
The shelter has 12 black adult cats available for adoption out of about 25 and that about half of the shelter's dogs are black. Two of those dogs have been at the shelter for two months. The average stay for animals is about 11 days. The shelter does euthanize animals based on factors such as space and adoptability. in Stimulation we Percieve
Common thinking imagines a table when it sees a table. However, what we experienced is an interpretation or rebuilt version of the original. The representation of our body does become related to the imaginative of the real or image or remembered space, which we compose with our senses. We continue our ordinary lives in such illusions every instant when we can not share the variety of the experiences in our worlds, which we scheme with our senses.
In this two-minutes video, we see after a while that the woman, whom we cannot understand why she is running away, is actually chasing someone. While being amused by this flight and chase, the audience is thrilled by the reality of the story that they will conceive at the end of the video, which is properly speaking taking place on a ---bleeeeeeeeeeep---. =)) ;) Common thinking imagines a table when it sees a table. There now exists an ultradark material SO black, SO light-absorbing, that it makes existing black-colored things look, in contrast, approximately like that dirty part of the space bar on your keyboard. (You know what I'm talking about.)

Neurons or Pollock? Scientists Create Technicolor 'Brainbow'
These mice have been genetically modified so that their brains fire
"tracer rounds." As the mice think, fluorescent proteins accumulate
throughout their neural network.
The results are, like the first pictures from the Hubble, stunning.

Kandinsky, Bruce Morrow), and they are art. These mice have been genetically modified so that their brains fire ... more -
