Man pleads guilty to motorway murder of Hell's Angel.
At Birmingham crown court yesterday, Sean Creighton, a 44 year old from Coventry, admitted murdering Gerry Tobin. For legal reasons, his plea could not be reported until today.
Creighton had previously denied killing the 35-year-old biker but changed his plea ahead of the trial of six other men accused of killing Tobin near junction 12 of the M40 in August last year.
Tobin, who lived in Mottingham, south-east London, worked as a mechanic at a Harley Davidson garage.
A post-mortem examination found he died from single gunshot wound to the back of his head on the Warwickshire stretch of the motorway, as a he returned from the Bulldog Bash bikers' festival.
Creighton, who also admitted two firearms charges, was remanded in custody yesterday and will be sentenced at the end of the trial, which is expected to last for up to six weeks.
Mr Justice Treacy, who lifted a restriction prohibiting the media from reporting Creighton's pleas, warned jurors not to conduct their own investigations into the killing of Tobin.
Six men also face a charge of possessing a shotgun, while two (Turner and Dane Garside) are further charged with possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life. Motorcyclist dies in Utah speed record attempt
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (AFP) – A motorcyclist was killed after losing control of his bike at 385 kilometers (239 miles) per hour and crashing on Utah’s famous Bonneville Salt Flats, authorities and reports said Thursday.
The American Motorcyclist Association said in a statement on its website that 49-year-old Cliff Gullett of Montana was killed in an accident during a time trial at the location, around 185 kilometers (115 miles) west of Salt Lake City.
The AMA said Gullett was competing in the 500cc class during a time trial speed racing event when his bike crashed. Reports said Gullett was aiming to set a record for the fastest two-stroke, two-cylinder motorcycle.
The Salt Lake Tribune cited police investigators as saying Gullett was travelling at 239 miles per hour before the crash.
The Bonneville Salt Flats have been used as a speed testing ground since 1896 and became famous in 1935 when British motorsport legend Malcolm Campbell broke the world land speed record at the site.

Harley-Davidson's 105th Anniversary Draws Thousands Of Riders And Fans To Mil...
Thousands of people lined a parade route Saturday as Harley-Davidson riders from around the world revved their engines, waved flags and threw candy to the crowd for the iconic motorcycle company's 105th anniversary.
About 7,500 motorcycles sparkled in the sunshine as they growled along the 4 1/2-mile route by Lake Michigan.
Vannettsa Valentine of Milwaukee watched the parade and slapped hands with many bikers.
"I've lost count of where they all come from," she said. "I wanted to welcome them to Milwaukee."
More than 100,000 people were expected in Milwaukee for the celebration, which included activities at the new Harley-Davidson Museum and a Saturday night performance by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
Harley-Davidson Inc. spokesman Jerry Gleason said the riders were randomly selected from among people who bought celebration tickets before December.
Riders came from overseas as well as the United States, many festooning their bikes with their home countries' flags. Others wore costumes, including Batman. The 158 police and sheriff's troopers participating included officers from as far away as Italy.
Among the lead riders was Willie G. Davidson, grandson of a Harley-Davidson founder and the company's chief styling officer.
The celebration started Thursday and ends Sunday. Thousands of people lined a parade route Saturday as Harley-Davidson riders from around the world revved their engines, waved flags an... more -

New officer struck down
A former Marine who returned home after two tours in Iraq to serve his community as a Hopkinton police officer was killed minutes after his shift ended early yesterday by an alleged drunken driver on Route 202/9.
Powers, 24, of Hillsborough, was riding home on his 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he was hit from behind at about 1:24 a.m. by a 1992 BMW sedan driven by Jeffrey Dennis, 22, of Henniker, authorities allege. Powers was thrown from his motorcycle into the roadway, where seconds later an oncoming motorist struck him again. He died at the scene.
Dennis abandoned his car on the side of the road -- with his passenger still sitting inside -- and ran into the woods where he was taken into custody about six hours later after an intensive foot and air search by local and state police using dogs and a helicopter, Merrimack County Attorney Daniel I. St. Hilaire alleged.
Wearing leg manacles, camouflage cargo shorts and a T-shirt, Dennis shuffled into Concord District Court in stocking feet where he was arraigned on two negligent homicide charges and one count each of aggravated driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a collision.
