    • Teens want to talk more about sex, parents are too embarrassed!

"Parents are missing out on vital conversations with their children about sex because of embarrassment, a report for the government says.

A study by author and agony aunt Anita Naik found three-quarters of 11-to- 14-year-olds wished it was easier to talk to their parents about sex.

And a poll found that 44% of young people did not trust the information they received from friends.

Most felt talking would not encourage them to have sex, as many parents fear.

More than half of parents (55%) held back from talking about sex, the survey suggests, because of embarrassment about how to start.

Fathers were much less likely than mothers to get involved in conversations with their sons about sex. "

    • Visiting Brothels is an 'addiction'

A new survey has shed light on why men are hooked on hookers, by revealing that a vast majority of males view buying sex as a form of addiction.

To get a broader insight into the attitudes of men who buy sex, the team of researchers, mostly young women invited more than 100 US men who visited prostitutes to sit and talk about their attitudes and experiences. They received more than 200 responses.

The survey designed by anti-prostitution activist Melissa Farley showed that majority of men believed that there was nothing wrong with prostitution and 83 per cent viewed buying sex as a form of addiction.

The aim of research was to push for harsher criminal punishments for men who buy sex from prostitutes, she said. However, nearly 90 per cent of the men said that they would stop if they felt there was a likely chance they would be caught and prosecuted.

    • Condom company mixes sexuality and art

Melbourne-based condom company Legends Rubbers is hoping that the mixture of sex and art will help boost its sales with the decision to feature the works of controversial local artist Hazel Dooney on its condom packs.

Legends Rubbers is about to launch prophylactic packaging featuring works by Hazel Dooney and is following in the footsteps of other campaigns that feature artists, like Louis Vuitton stylings of Takashi Murakami to Australia's own Pro Hart and Stainmaster carpet.

Legends, which is a small operator that moves about 4000 tins of condoms a month, has signed up a royalty deal with Hazel Dooney, whose works of art explore sex and sexuality, usually through the portrayal of semi-naked women.

"... But researchers are finding that same-sex couplings are surprisingly widespread in the animal kingdom..."

This article is about same-sex couplings in both captive and wild animals. This kind of research debunks the mythology that homosexuality is "unnatural" and therefore wrong, and can hopefully lead to more tolerance for the wide spectrum of human sexuality.

    • IS it cool to use SEX to SELL???

Attach sexuality to any goods or services and it blows up right ???

Love it or hate it, sex sells !!!

But why exactly ??? is it biological wiring or are we obsessed with it??

I mean there is so much in life, nature and humor all around. There's food and art and yet somehow nothing gets the attention that sex does...

and is it something we should look at, challenge and change within us? Or do we just accept the somewhat exploitation of our humanness and our human desires ...

      What do you think ????

This is a series of entertaining and educational videos I've started, which address common questions about homosexuality. It's in a question/answer format, where viewers write into me during the week, and I pick one or two emails to respond to.

I inject my answer with a good amount of wit and humor to keep the discussion interesting. The questions are frank, and the answers are honest.

    • Want to avoid rape? Malaysians say lose the lipstick and heels!

Women in a northern Malaysian city ruled by conservative Islamists are being urged to forsake bright lipstick and noisy high heels in an effort to preserve their dignity and avoid rape.

Authorities in Kota Bharu have distributed pamphlets recommending that Muslim women do not wear heavy makeup and loud shoes when they go out to work in restaurants or other public places.

But municipal officials in Kota Bharu, capital of Kelantan state which is run by the hardline Pan-Malaysian Islamic party, stressed that the code was not an edict, merely advice for women wishing to follow the "Islamic way".

The party's brand of Islam - mocked by Malaysian liberals as "Taliban Lite" - has already decreed that supermarkets must a have separate lines for men and women at checkouts, and beaches should be segregated.

Couples caught sitting too close together on park benches are hunted down by the city's moral enforcers and fined up to £285 in the city's Sharia courts.

But the only directive on dress came a decade ago when it was ordered Muslim women must wear non-transparent headscarves that cover the chest, along with loose-fitting, long-sleeved blouses.

Violators face a fine of up to £75 and as many as 20 women are punished for breaking the rule every month.

Azman Mohamad Daham, a spokesman for Kota Bharu municipality, said the latest suggestion contained in leaflets was part of a two-year old campaign.

"We just distribute pamphlets," he said. "Our minimum guideline is [women] must wear headscarves. The rest is up to them. If they want to follow the 100% Islamic way, it's up to them."

The goal of the modesty drive was to prevent rape and safeguard the women's dignity, he said.

It advises that women should refrain from using heavy makeup, particularly bright lipstick. Loud high-heel shoes should also be avoided, though if women insisted on wearing them the heels could be padded with rubber to mute the sound.

Two-thirds of Malaysians are Malay Muslim, while the other ethnic groups - mainly Chinese and Indians - follow other faiths.

The Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party scored a huge success in the general election three months ago, winning an unprecedented number of seats that propelled it out of its Kelantan backwater powerbase on to the national political stage.

"There is growing evidence of falling sperm counts, an increase in the incidence of testicular cancer, and increase in the numbers of boys being born with abnormalities of their reproductive system. It has been speculated that these phenomena have been caused by endocrine disrupters - substances mimicking oestrogens or acting in other ways. This is discussed with special reference to environmental health and occupational hygiene implications."

Think corporations, their board members, CEOs or stockholders care about you? Guess again.

    • Life, Liberty And The Pursuit Of Orgasms: Politician Calls For New South Of The Bo...

"Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" are the big three inalienable rights set out in our Declaration of Independence, but a female politician in South America is hoping to improve things south of the border for her fellow countrywomen, in more ways than one.

Ms Soledad Vela, a member of Ecuador's ruling party, is proposing that women should have the right "to enjoy sex in a free, fair and more open society" under the country's new constitution, which she is currently helping draft.

Not surprisingly, the measure is not popular in all quarters. One male politician called Ms Vela's proposal "ridiculous," another accused her of trying to enact “orgasms by law.” Ms Vela maintains she is just trying to ensure a better distribution of wealth and rights. Sounds fair to us.

    • Susan for Now

The documentary Susan for Now takes the viewer on a journey of discovery through what most people know only vaguely as a mysterious and taboo subculture: the world of sadomasochism.

The film is a first person account of a woman reclaiming her sexual freedom after a ten-year period of self-imposed celibacy and follows the filmmakers personal quest through the underground world of the sex positive community in Seattle. While Susan for Now is a memorably vivid and unflinching exploration of this widely practiced and yet little known genre of alternative sexuality, the film is equally notable for its revealing insights into the minds and hearts of articulate and sincere individuals from every walk of life, from lawyers, IT professionals, graphic artists, musicians and real estate agents to name a few. The individuals portrayed convey how BDSM is practiced in a consensual and responsible manner.

What emerges is an informative depiction of a diverse and growing community and its uneasy relationship with societys shifting mainstream culture. This film dispels the myth that all forms of BDSM and its practitioners are inherently deviant.
