Brown snubs China
A polite and warm invitation from the Chinese prime minister has been snubbed by Gordon Brown.
Chinese PM Wen Jiabao invited Mr. Brown to join in him in a game of ping-pong whilst the pair watched exhibition matches between young British table tennis hopefuls and their Chinese counterparts.
'One-eyed Brown', is said to have skirted around the invitation politely, with his blindness in one eye being noted as his probable reason.
However, at one point things looked promising for what could've been one of the most powerful games of ping-pong the world has ever seen. The PMs walked towards the table, and for a split-second it seemed the 'ping-pong crisis talks' had been successful. Unfortunately, Gordon Brown walked-on-by and headed straight for a microphone where he delivered the slightly less exciting, yet still interesting news that China and Britain's athletes would be joining together in a new athletic partnership.
Brown wasn't evasive all day, he did kindly accept an invitation to the Beijing Olympics later this year.
