    • Is sex with a robot hooker cheating?

So asks the headline at website Asylum. So far the poll shows 77% of respondents consider a little robot-love to be guilt free, something I'd agree with – after all, an all-singing, all-dancing (and all-sucking) robot doll is just a better featured vibrator, right?

The Lady, whom I always consult in matters sexual and sartorial, agrees. "Do you think using a vibrator is having sex?" she asked me, "I do. It's having sex, but it's not getting laid."

But what about the partner left at home? Because these dolls are so human, waving goodbye to your man as he heads off to the cyber-brothel might not be so easy. The erotic part of sex, after all, occurs in the mind, and the only reason to use a full sized fake woman is to pretend you are with a real woman.

In the mind of the John, is there a difference between the two? Is it the high-tech equivalent of getting up on the job, closing your eyes and pretending you are actually having sex with a celebrity (or as I have done in the past, drawing the face of Queen Elizabeth on a paper bag)? And if it is done illicitly, without the knowledge of your other half, is that deception is worse than the sex itself?

We suppose that there are advantages. No viruses (unless the girl runs Windows), and no payoff money if you happen to be a high profile, blackmail-able celebrity (a Gadget Lab blogger, for instance). For me, it comes down to price. If it's cheaper than dinner and a movie, I'm in."

Interesting! I think it depends on how human like the robots are and to what extent they emotionally relate to the human.

    • Couple has sex for 101 days

"After Annie and Doug Brown set themselves the challenge to have sex for 101 consecutive days, Annie found herself worrying about day 33 the most. 'It was totally irrational but I was obsessed that it would all go wrong on that day,' says Annie. 'After it passed, our daily sex became a happy habit. Not in a dull way but something that was planned and part of our life.'

Before their mission, which 41-year-old Annie suggested to spice up their love life, the Browns managed sex when they had the time and energy. 'Our sex was never bad,' says Doug, who was 'pretty happy' when he realised Annie was serious. 'We have two young children and busy jobs, so we were lucky if we managed it once a week. We spent months having strategy meetings to ensure we could do it.'

Sex and relationship expert Tracey Cox says when sex is good, it accounts for a quarter of the relationship's happiness. 'When it's bad, it can destroy everything. When you become friends, not lovers, you put yourself at risk of an affair. But the more you have sex, the more you want it. It's like having a chocolate bar every day at 3pm, eventually you will crave it every day. An orgasm is no different.'"

Do you have sex everyday in your relationship?
      Do you want to?

    • Immature, insensitive, sex-mad? Not us, say men

"Young, single men are fed up with being typecast as immature, insensitive and sex-obsessed, with a survey finding that the majority believe in having a soul mate, aren't scared of commitment, and say real men can cry.

A poll of 70,000 men with an average age of 28 debunked many of the standard stereotypes to show that the modern man is driven by a sense of values, loyalty and family.

The survey, by men's lifestyle website AskMen.com, found that 77 percent of respondents look for girlfriends with "wife potential" while 75 percent believe they have a soul mate and 69 percent would never cheat on their partner.

"These survey results will be surprising to many women, most of whom have a completely different perspective of what the average man thinks and feels," James Bassil, editor-in-chief of AskMen.com, told Reuters.

"The idea that young guys only want to be single and jump from girlfriend to girlfriend is not true at all."

The online survey, conducted over a five-week period, found that six out of 10 men were fed up with inaccurate commercial descriptions of them.

Bassil said the images of men on television and in advertisments had not changed or been challenged for decades whereas the image of women in the media was always changing as their roles in the home and the workplace altered.

"In TV sitcoms and in adverts, young men are portrayed as immature, frat boys who are always trying to get around their wives or girlfriends finding out about their bad behaviour. This is just not the case," he said."

So what's the deal guys- are you loser sex hounds or is there something more to ya? I really think it's true that commercials and sitcoms stereotype guys- and women suffer for it as well, because we're always bitchy nags who have to pull the dude into shape. Time for a change?

    • Another Female Teacher Arrested in Sex Assault Investigation

Stephanie A. Draper, 35, of Blair, Neb., is accused of having a sexual relationship with a student six years ago. She turned herself in July 23 and was released from the Sarpy County Jail after posting 10 percent of her $100,000 bail, or $10,000.

Sarpy County authorities issued a warrant for Draper's arrest July 18, charging her with first-degree sexual assault of a minor, a crime punishable by up to 50 years in prison.

According to an affidavit requesting the warrant, the student, now 21, told an investigator that he and Draper had a relationship between February and April 2002, when he was 14. They met when the student attended Beadle Middle School.

The student said he and Draper, who then lived in Sarpy County, had sex twice at her house. Another time, they drove to Washington County, where they kissed near the site where Draper and her husband were building a house. There was another incident at Draper's house, the student said, but the two did not have sex.

At the last encounter, the student claims Draper told him if he wouldn't have sex with her she would have sex with his friend, another minor who waited in a nearby room. The friend later walked in on the two and according to the affidavit, the friend witnessed Draper naked, trying to remove the other boy's clothing. That friend is now a prosecution witness.

    • Ex-teacher charged again in student’s rape

Heather Kennedy, 25, of Massapequa, the former Wantagh high school teacher who pleaded guilty last month to having sex with a 16-year-old student, was arrested again, accused of the same crime. She was first arrested March26 after the boy, a student of hers at Wantagh High School, confessed to his father that they had sex in his car in the parking lot of Massapequa High School.

Last month, Heather Kennedy pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct involving a 16 year old former student she was charged with raping. While awaiting sentencing in the case, Kennedy was ordered to NOT have contact with the victim.

Kennedy, who taught math and was also a track coach at the school, pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct June 12 and was out on probation, awaiting sentencing in August. She faced up to a year in prison and was going to lose her teaching license after registering as a sex offender.

"Almost immediately after she walked out of court, she was having contact with the victim by phone and in person," Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice said.

The district attorney's office received a tip and an investigation revealed the two had sex five more times after June 12, in violation of the boy's order of protection. According to the boy's testimony to investigators, in the past two months the boy sneaked out to have sex with Kennedy twice in Kennedy's grandparents' Bellmore home, twice in a mutual friend's Wantagh home, and once after Kennedy picked up the boy from the Massapequa train station.

    • Woman convicted of raping 11-year-old boy

wenty-eight-year-old mother of 2, Carrie L. Dana, was convicted of felony counts of rape, indecent assault of a child younger than age 13, and a misdemeanor count of corruption of minors. She was acquitted of two felony counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse.

Prosecutors alleged Dana repeatedly had sex with the 11 years old boy between March and August 2007 in Dana's residence in the 2400 block of State Street. The defense is claiming that Dana did not assault the boy, or, if she did, that she did so under duress. The victim was a neighbor of Dana's and a friend of her son, according to the complaint filed by Erie County Detective Jon Reddinger.

Dana has a history of mental-health treatment, according to court records. She was living in a residence run by Stairways Behavioral Health when two theft cases against her were prosecuted in 1998, according to the records.

The boy told jurors Thursday that Dana was a neighbor who helped care for his seriously ill parents. He enjoyed visiting Dana's home and watching movies with her children, he said. Dana made sexual advances toward him the first night he spent the night at her home, he said. He said they had sex almost "every day" until August, when he turned 12.

The victim said Dana ended the relationship because she believed others were suspicious and she started to think she could get caught.

    • Worst break-ups ever turned into a play: are yours as dramatic?

Ok, so it’s not high on the 'lots of wars, lots of conflict' news agenda, but it is proper interesting. And it has a topical peg and everything.

When the Bush Theatre asked people to share their worst break-up experiences, it was inundated with replies. Now those stories have become a play, '50 Ways to Leave Your Lover', which will debut at Latitude festival this weekend.

Ranging from the flippant one-line kiss-off to the tender conclusion of a quarter-century of marriage, a four-strong cast, two women and two men, including Ralf Little, best known as The Royle Family's Anthony, will race through 50 break-ups in as many minutes in a lo-fi production that was originally commissioned for Latitude Festival. Sounds like fun!

50 Ways to Leave Your Lover, a kind of Bayeux Tapestry of broken hearts, features the much-loved/hated clichés ("Let's just be friends", "I'm not ready for a relationship" etc) but also some spectacularly inventive excuses for waving goodbye. Who, for example, could argue with the following? "Yeah, I see a future for us, but it's more a global warming and climate catastrophe sort of vision. So I'm going take some preventative measures. For the sake of the planet."

What about the cad who dumped his lady via his Facebook status? Or the girl who was charmed by the love token of a hand-made teddy bear, only to discover that it growled, "you're dumped. And I want my CDs back" when she squeezed its tummy? Or the charmer ended it all "three days before the wedding.... I told her I was gay... It wasn't very nice..."

So go on, let it all out. What are your worst break-up stories?

    • Women who don't submit to husbands are to blame for domestic violence, says Baptis...

One reason that men abuse their wives is because women rebel against their husband's God-given authority, a Southern Baptist scholar said in a Texas church recently.

Bruce Ware, professor of Christian theology at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, said women desire to have their own way instead of submitting to their husbands because of sin.

"And husbands on their parts, because they're sinners, now respond to that threat to their authority either by being abusive, which is of course one of the ways men can respond when their authority is challenged--or, more commonly, to become passive, acquiescent, and simply not asserting the leadership they ought to as men in their homes and in churches," Ware said from the pulpit of Denton Bible Church in Denton, Texas.

Ware said God created men and women equally in God's image but for different roles.

"He has primary responsibility for the work and the labor and the toil that will provide for the family, that will sustain their family," he said. "He's the one in charge of leadership in the family, and that will become difficult, because of sin."

"...A woman will demonstrate that she is in fact a Christian, that she has submitted to God's ways by affirming and embracing her God-designed identity as--for the most part, generally this is true--as wife and mother, rather than chafing against it, rather than bucking against it, rather than wanting to be a man, wanting to be in a man's position, wanting to teach and exercise authority over men,"

Oh. My. God. (Or not, as the case may be). Like we needed any more reasons to scorn and revile southern American right-wing religious types. Why doesn't this stuff make the headlines more often? How can Christians tell Muslims (and they do, often) that some elements of Islam treat women unfairly? Are enough loons out there taking this crap seriously for it to be a serious social and political issue?

    • Memorial to be held for young British 'honour killing' victim

A memorial will be held for Surjit Athwal (1971-1998) on Tuesday 22nd July, to mark the first anniversary of her husband's and mother-in-law's convictions for her murder.

Surjit, a 26-year-old mother of two, was murdered in a so-called 'honour killing' by the Sikh family she married into. Her body was never found, and it took nearly 10 years for her murderers to be brought to justice.

Her mother-in-law and husband were convicted of arranging for her to "disappear off the surface of the earth" after they discovered she was having an affair. The family were said to have been concerned that she cut her hair short, smoked cigarettes and drank alcohol.

Surjit and her mother-in-law, Bachan Athwal, from London, went on a trip to a family wedding in India in December 1998; Surjit Athwal never returned. Prosecutors said her mother-in-law later boasted that she had arranged for her brother to strangle Surjit and throw the body into a river.

Campaigners have questioned why Surjit's case went largely unnoticed in the media.

Do you believe the British Government and its Foreign Office should treat all British citizens equally? Should ethnic minority Britons like Surjit Athwal and Banaz Mahmoud (another woman murdered in a so-called 'honour killing') receive the same level of protection and intervention as white Britons like Lucy Blackman, Kirsty Jones, Ian Stillman, Peter Bleach and Madeleine McCann?

The memorial will be held at Slough Friends Meeting House, 74 Ragstone Road, Slough on Tuesday 22nd July 2008 between 6.30pm and 8.30pm.

Brenda Baillargeon, 40, a former teacher’s aide at Amery High School in Amery, Wisconsin was sentenced to one year in the county jail and 15 years probation for engaging in sex with a 16-year-old male student. Orginally she was arrested on 3 counts of sexual assault of a student by school staff and 2 counts of child enticement with sexual contact.

Mother-of-four Baillargeon entered a no contest pleas to one count of sex assault of a student by school staff and one count of child enticement with sexual contact. In exchange for her no context plea three other felony charges were dismissed.

The boy's family, according to the court's victim advocate, said they were satisfied with the outcome.

The teenager's mother became suspicious about the relationship last fall -- a relationship Baillargeon and the boy first denied to investigators. The mother obtained a restraining order, which Baillargeon repeatedly ignored.

She had sex with him at his home, at his grandfather's cabin, on a bench at a nearby park and at her cabin near Amery over the course of seven months.

Not for global warming, or even the rise of biofuels, but rather the 6% rise in STDs amongst us young Britons.

The people who know about this kind of stuff have issued a 'stark warning' to us youngsters about practicing safe sex after figures "showed a rise in the number of sexually transmitted infections (STDs) being diagnosed across the UK."

According to the figures, people aged between 16 and 24 accounted for about half of all newly diagnosed STDs in 2007. Quite impressive, considering that age bracket only adds up to one eighth of the population.

So, we're having a ridiculous amount more sex than anyone else, but we're just not being as safe as we should be.
