German animal advocates are trying to convince people not to buy pet rats for their children after the success of Pixar's "Ratatouille."
Rat sales have increased 40% since the release of the film in France.
German activists are trying to spread the message that pet rats aren't as cute or charismatic as the ones depicted in the film.
The fear is that as the fad passes, pet rats will be put back on the street.
