    • US Israeli Manipulation Of Media Towards Iran

One of the most disturbing things being recycled from the lead-up to the Iraq war is the blatant manipulation of media outlets by the US and Israel when it comes to Iran. Israeli officials with shady, sometimes violent histories, are given red carpet treatment on networks like CNN, while the propaganda continues painting Iran as some sort of Hitlerian threat to the world. • Google Maps goes mega-high-resolution

Google's very own satellite, the GeoEye-1 is set to take a load of amazingly good resolution pictures for Google Earth - good enough even to read car number plates from orbit (though Google won't be allowed to access those images for security reasons). Google shares the GeoEye-1 with the American National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, which collects and analyses geographical data for national security purposes, and who no doubt will be keeping a high-res eye on what Google can and can't post, though it is hoped that this latest satellite will allow Google Maps to display higher-resolution images of rural areas that they previously couldn't get good quality images for.

The above image is GeoEye-1's first capture for Google.

YouTube flips switch on new sales channel
Online video leader YouTube has opened up its version of a home shopping network in its latest effort to wring more revenue from its massive audience and justify the $1.76 billion that Google Inc. paid for the site two years ago.
In the new service, unveiled Tuesday in the United States, there will be buttons under YouTube videos to offer viewers a chance to buy music, movies, TV shows, concert tickets and other products featured or mentioned in a particular clip. More?

    • Google Earth turning into Google Underwater

Google Earth is set to add a cool-sounding new feature, the ability to view undersea landscapes.

Apparently viewers will be able to check out the habitats of threatened underwater species by viewing video streams, photos and stories from marine protected areas all over the world.

Courtesy of Natural England, the UK alone has had 43 marine sites of interest added to the new project.

A spokesperson for Natural England said: "There needs to be a change in attitudes towards protecting our oceans. The diversity of marine wildlife around England's coastline is exceptional; we have everything from whales through to microscopic phytoplankton.

"But we need an enhanced marine protection system to help conserve our undersea environment."

    • Gmail to keep you from drunk emailing

Google has adapted its free email service to help those letting loose after a few evening cocktails or succumbing to lovelorn moments from firing off messages they might regret in the morning.

Mail Goggles software comes to life after dark and on weekends, when altered states of mind are more probable, and requires that five simple math problems be answered correctly in less than a minute in order to send a Gmail missive.

"Sometimes I send messages I shouldn't send," Gmail engineer Jon Perlow wrote Monday in a website posting announcing the optional new feature.

"Like the time I told that girl I had a crush on her over text message. Or the time I sent that late night email to my ex-girlfriend that we should get back together."

Gmail users can adjust their email settings to activate the Goggles feature and dictate the times it is active.

"It will check that you're really sure you want to send that late night Friday email," Perlow wrote.

"And what better way to check than by making you solve a few simple math problems after you click send to verify you're in the right state of mind?"

      Come funziona?
