Voxtrot
Wikipedia says "Voxtrot is an indie pop rock band from Austin, Texas, USA. The quintet is fronted by Ramesh Srivastava and also includes Jason Chronis, Mitchell Wayne Calvert, Matt Simon, and Jared Van Fleet."
What it doesn't say is that the band lives in a former nursery school which they've turned into a rehearsal space for all things Voxtrot. The Current Fix gets a tour of Voxtrot's abode. You're such Beautiful Losers
It's the last day of the film festival here in SXSW :(. But don't despair, it's ok, the music festival starts today, hurray! I've been seeing some great films, including Aaron Rose and Joshua Leonard's film, Beautiful Losers. If you're a fan of graffiti and crazy graphic art, this is the right film for you as it follows the rise of a group of artists inspired by the subcultures in their town.
It's worth watching just to see Harmony Korine scare some children with stories of severed heads!

SXSW- Day 1
First night @ SXSW. Lots of walking around, eating, and a really really great vibe. Austin is amazing. Got to catch up with Chris Holland, Chris Hyams (both from BSide), Arin Crumley, Lance Weiler, and many more. Prince Paul was also amazing. I'm watching Living with the Tudors at SXSW
I'm taking a break from VC2 UK to visit SXSW festival in Austin and watch some films. I'm sat in the Alamo cinema in Austin waiting for Living with the Tudors to start. (It's a great cinema, you can order food and they bring it to you while you're watching the movie!)
Karen Guthrie, co-director of Living with the Tudors, is here in Austin and has been showing true dedication by donning her tudor dress to promote the film around town! If you're here, you should definitely try and take in a screening.
Here's the synopsis:
After 4 years of participation as costumed historical re-enactors, Karen Guthrie & Nina Pope were given unprecedented access with their cameras to the UK's oldest and largest historical re-enactment at Kentwell Hall in rural Suffolk. Among the 500 volunteers spending their summer holidays re-creating every conceivable walk of 16th century English life, they met a core of fiercely loyal and protective re-enactors whose real life stories form a fascinating counterpoint to their chosen 16th century roles: they include Tissy, a former airline security guard who becomes the serene 'lady of the manor'; Danny, a disaffected teenager who transforms into the gentlemanly and rather camp Master Riece, and Sue, a solicitor who never wants to leave the manor.Shepherding through the thousands of paying visitors who keep Kentwell afloat, is owner Patrick Phillips, a distantly paternal leader who describes the epic spectacles as his 'games'.Shot over an idyllic English summer, this refined portrait shows us what these secretive enthusiasts are escaping from - and to. Austin: Jorge Macchi @Blanton Museum thru 3/16
A 2005 featured artist at the Venice Biennale, Macchi has garnered international attention for his delicate meditations on the poetics of everyday life using a variety of media and formats, from video installations to artist's books to cut out newspaper collages. His work is characterized by a somewhat melancholic air, with subjects ranging from acts of random violence to unrequited love, the impossibility of conclusion, and the interplay between presence and absence.
