Is Barack Obama too young to be president?
Today's Chicago Tribune has an op-ed column by Seven Calabresi, who is a professor @ Northwestern University's Law School, a founding member of the Federalist Society, and a veteran of the Reagan and Bush Sr. administrations. He asserts that Sen.Obama is too young to be president. Minimum age is 35... I thought his column was so asinine that it called for a response. Trouble in the Senate: will Lieberman go Republican?
What a difference a few years can make. Back in 2000, Al Gore had found in Joe Lieberman the perfect running mate. But by 2006, the political winds had changed. Already, whispers in Washington are suggesting that Democrats may move to strip Lieberman of his chairmanships if the party manages significant gains in 2008. But is it a wise move? Paris would storm the Bastille all over again for Obama
Yesterday was Bastille Day, the French equivalent of Independence Day. Obama Appealing to Conservatives In Ways McCain Can't
Obama’s highly surprising and unlikely popularity (albeit moderate popularity) is born out of a frustration with the “big tent” GOP forged in the days of Ronald Reagan, and many on the right are casting a skeptical eye toward McCain. And now, with Obama making a strong push to connect with social conservatives, McCain is feeling the heat. Obama's Corn Fake
Obama's ties to Big Corn are disturbing. This doesn't look like change we can believe in. This looks like pork and politics as usual. If energy is one of the biggest challenges we face, Obama is going to need more tools in his box than ethanol. Burning food for fuel is both scientifically and environmentally unsound and I'd be willing to bet that Obama knows it . . . which makes this an even worse violation of his campaign's first principles. Welcome to McCain McSame Theater
The closer we get to the presidential election the more John McCain looks and acts like George W. Bush. I don't know what his strategy is all about but do we really want another term of the neocons and Bush? I think not! Perhaps, he is banking on another 9/11 or something to shock Americans into the same fear-hold Karl Rove and the rest of the neocon manipulators had on the people...You know that PNAC group (which has since shut down their site...hmmm I wonder why, does rats overboard mean anything?) But, the PNAC in order to unleash their foreign/military campaigns needed a catalyzing event like "a new Pearl Harbor". (PNAC quote) 9/11 rode to their rescue. Now they were able to Pied Piper all the little frightened children into the black hole of hell. But their utopian plan did not work out so well. Maybe they need another Pearl Harbor because it seems the little children have lost some of their fear and may need a booster shot. How much more can we take? Obama or Anyone But McBush! Thanks, thinkingblue.blogspot.com

The next U.S. president must sign the treaty on cluster bombs
The United States is the largest producer, stockpiler, and user of cluster bombs in the history of the world. These horrific hybrids between aerial bombs and land mines kill and maim hundreds of innocent civilians all around the world every year—many of them children.
Last month, 111 nations committed to a much needed global ban on cluster bombs, but Bush won't sign it. So far, the leading presidential candidates, Barack Obama and John McCain, have been silent on whether they will endorse this important treaty.
We need a President who will do the right thing. Ask all the presidential candidates to commit to sign the global cluster bomb ban.
~~~~~~~~~
Why the silence presidential candidates? Too busy at rallies and press conferences and raising all those millions to discuss real issues? They dropped these bombs in Iraq and Afghanistan as they were dropping poptarts and peanut butter from the sky so people would think they were picking up food instead of bombs. Children have lost arms and legs because they pick these things up to play with them while they are still detonated. I would then think any presidential candidate who claims to be "anti-war" or at the very least to have a conscience would sign this treaty. The United States is the largest producer, stockpiler, and user of cluster bombs in the history of the world. These horrific hybrids ... more -
Obama asks absent fathers to take responsibility
"They have abandoned their responsibilities, acting like boys instead of men. And the foundations of our families are weaker because of it," the Democratic presidential candidate said Sunday at a largely black church in his hometown.
Reminding the congregation of his firsthand experience growing up without a father, Obama said he was lucky to have loving grandparents who helped his mother. He got support, second chances and scholarships that helped him get an education. Obama's father left when he was 2.
"A lot of children don't get those chances. There is no margin for error in their lives," said Obama, an Illinois senator.
"I resolved many years ago that it was my obligation to break the cycle -- that if I could be anything in life, I would be a good father to my girls," added Obama, whose daughters, Sasha and Malia, and his wife, Michelle, watched from the audience. "They have abandoned their responsibilities, acting like boys instead of men. And the foundations of our families are weaker because ... more -
Poll: Dems satisfied with Obama as nominee - and Republicans aren't with McCain
"A new number from the latest Hotline/Diageo poll goes a long way toward dispelling the idea that Barack Obama is leading a seriously divided party. On the contrary, the poll suggests that it's John McCain who has a problem in this regard.
The poll, conducted in the wake of Obama's clinching the nomination and including sampling dates from before Hillary Clinton's final concession, found that 68% of Democratic primary voters were satisfied with Obama as the nominee, with 30% preferring someone else.
By contrast, only 52% of Republican primary voters were satisfied with John McCain as their nominee, with 45% preferring someone else. And this is despite the fact that McCain sewed up his nomination months ago, while Democratic emotions were still raw when this poll was conducted."
Obama launches website against smears
Barack Obama has fought rumors for months now -- that he's a secret Muslim, that he won't say the Pledge of Allegiance, and some so scurrilous or ridiculous that they shouldn't be dignified with being repeated.
The presumptive Democratic nominee apparently has had enough -- especially after a rumor that says a video exists of his wife Michelle excoriating "whitey."
It is the top item in a new website his campaign has launched, fightthesmears.com, that tries to debunk the rumors.
"The truth: No such tape exists," it says on the website, whose existence was first reported by Time magazine. The "whitey" rumor first circulated on conservative blogs just before the final Democratic primaries on June 3. Obama was asked about it on his campaign plane last week, and it has since been mentioned in places as diverse as Rush Limbaugh's radio show and Maureen Dowd's column in the New York Times. McCain, Obama tax plans to boost U.S. debt
Tax breaks proposed by both presidential hopefuls John McCain and Barack Obama would increase the U.S. national debt by trillions of dollars over 10 years, but Obama's plan would hike taxes for the wealthiest Americans, a tax policy group said on Wednesday.
In an analysis of how the candidates' tax proposals would affect federal revenues, the Brookings Institution and the Urban Institute said McCain's plans would cut receipts by $3.72 trillion from 2009-2018 compared with current tax law. Obama's plans would cut revenues by $2.73 trillion over the same period.
Including added interest costs, McCain's plan would add $4.5 trillion to the national debt, while Obama's would add $3.3 trillion -- and that's before spending proposals are considered.
How Clean Is "Clean Coal"?
Presidential candidates are pushing "clean coal" but many suspect it is causing a rare form of blood cancer.
In a single year, less than one in 100,000 Americans contract a rare form of blood cancer. In Pennsylvania coal country, the rate is nearly five times higher. Many suspect "clean" coal is the cause. As the 2008 presidential candidates promote the potential of clean coal as an alternative fuel source, and as Congress prepares to debate energy legislation, ANP takes a look at the controversial practice of coal-ash dumping. This investigation brought to you in partnership with The Washington Independent. Check out the video to your right. Why Obama does not salute the American flag
Obama pledges allegiance to a so-called black value system which sounds to me like and many others who have the understanding of what Hitler put this country threw. And what we as Americans growing up in those times went through can relate to this. Those of you who were not born yet or had not been even a thought in mind at the time if you reply do your history before making a comment. And those that have done their history and understand what happened with Hitlers Storm Troopers and what the Black Panthers stood for along with those wanting to know what your future has in store for you on how you vote today you may just want to check this link out and not discard it as a media link. It is in fact the doctrine or teaching of a location that wishes to people in to Kill people off, put them into concentration camps and not Pledge Allegiance to the American Flag but to a leadership like what was called a dictatorship.
It can happen, if you let it. it takes your vote to do it and it is no joke!
