Is Sarah Palin a Grandma?
Ok readers I really have no idea what to make of this one….
The Daily Kos and several other sites are currently reporting that John McCains new running mate, Governor Sarah Palin, may not being exactly straightforward about her son Trig Paxson Van Palin.
They are saying he is her grandson and his mother is really Gov. Palin’s teenage daughter Bristol…
I guess this all starts back in March when Ms. Palin announced she was prego… and that she was already about seven months along…
The news that the pregnancy is so advanced astonished all who heard it, because the governor didn’t look seven months pregnant.
Then On Friday, April 18th, 2008, Sarah and her husband Todd were in Dallas, Texas for a Republican Governor's Convention.
They had been in town for three days already, but Sarah had yet to give her keynote speaker address on energy policy. Early Friday morning at 4:00am, Sarah began leaking amniotic fluid. Instead of checking into a hospital, she instead made a call to her doctor, and then delivered the keynote speech.
This story get even stranger from here, because instead of rushing to a Dallas medical facility that could treat a mother who's amniotic fluid has been draining for hours Sarah instead opted to... Fly all the way back from Texas to Alaska.
Now Like I said, I don’t know what to make of this…. But when my water broke and I went into labor, making speeches and getting on a plane to anyplace was the last thing I was going to do… Let alone make an 8 hour flight from Texas to Alaska... But hey that is just me....

61-year-old Japanese woman gave birth to her own grandchild
A 61-year-old Japanese woman gave birth to her own grandchild, using an egg donated by her daughter, a clinic said Thursday.
Surrogate births are extremely rare in Japan and banned by industry groups, but they are not illegal. The Suwa Maternity Clinic in Nagano, northwest of Tokyo, refused to provide information such as the date of the birth or gender of the baby. News reports said the baby was born last year.
The clinic said it performed the procedure because the woman's daughter has no uterus, but didn't give details on why she had that condition. The surrogate mother used a fertilized egg donated by her daughter.
"Both surrogate mother and baby were fine," said Chihiro Netsu, a spokeswoman for the clinic.
Dr. Yahiro Netsu, who runs the clinic, has long defied national opposition to such procedures, arguing that they should be an option for woman who are infertile.
In 2001, he performed what is thought to be the country's first successful surrogate birth. In 1998, Netsu was expelled from Japan's gynecology association for performing in-vitro fertilizations with eggs and sperm of donors who were not married to each other, though he was later reinstated.
The spokeswoman said the 61-year-old woman was believed to be the oldest surrogate mother in Japan, and news reports said she was the oldest woman to have given birth overall.
The Japanese Health Ministry does not release precise statistics on mothers' ages, saying only that there were two births to women aged 55 or older in 2006, the latest year that figures were available for.
Mainichi newspaper reported that the previous oldest mothers in Japan were two 60-year-old women implanted with their own fertilized eggs in the United States.
Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a powerful body with over 15,000 members, has banned such procedures, but they are not illegal and individual clinics are free to perform them — though few actually do.
At Suwa Maternity Clinic, eight surrogate mothers have given birth. Of them, four women have delivered babies using fertilized eggs from their daughters.
The clinic will report the latest case at a conference of the Japan Society of Fertilization and Implantation later this month. It was the first time the fertilization conference had taken up the subject of surrogate births, Netsu said. Raging Grannies Sing For peace, Generations To Come
In the heat and humidity of midday, an anti-war group of over-50-year-old activists known as the Raging Grannies sang just outside the Celtic Festival on Sunday, July 20.0731 02 1After the weekly Sunday protest on the corner of Main Street and High Street, nine grandmothers marched down Main Street to the waterfront to sing. Their uniforms included black T-shirts that read “I’m a Raging Granny,” aprons and large sunhats.
The grandmothers - the Raging Grannies - say they are focused on the welfare of America. “We’re concerned about generations to come,” says Nancy Galland.
In order to express their frustration with “war and American imperialism,” the Raging Grannies sing in protest, especially of the war in Iraq. They also write pamphlets to distribute their message.
Many of their songs are sung to well-known tunes like “Auld Lang Syne.” The Grannies used the tune “My Bonny Lies over the Ocean,” and charged the lyrics with political fervor:
“The Bushies lied over and over;
They all lied to you and to me;
The Bushies lied over and over;
Oh, bring back democracy!”
Raging Grannies is an international group that originated in 1987 in Victoria, British Columbia. It began as a club of women between the ages of 52 and 67 protesting the presence of U.S. warships and submarines in their waters, which they said posed threats to the environment.
The concept of using their “innocent” roles as grandmothers to fight for causes they believed in spread to the United States, where there are now more than 50 grandmother groups.
As Raging Grannies member Cathy Mink declared, “Outrage is our message!”
Jane Sanford and Margaret Laing co-founded the Belfast branch of the Raging Grannies. They debuted in March to commemorate the sixth year of the Iraq War. They meet once a week to rehearse songs and discuss politics.
There are between eight and 10 members in the Belfast chapter, and they are eager to “dress up and rail against authority,” as Laing put it.
The Grannies also stage appearances at the WERU Full Circle and Common Ground Country fairs, and are willing to sing at any event free of charge. Anyone more than 50 years old, grandmother or not, can become a member. London, Mar 27 : An octogenarian grandmom left a trail of havoc behind her after driving for 15 miles the wrong way down the fast lane of a motorway.

The 81-year-old became puzzled after visiting a friend for tea when she turned into an exit slip road on to the M65 at Whitebirk in Lancashire.
The retired florist realised her mistake quickly but felt she had no choice but to continue on for seven junctions until the police brought her to a halt at Barrowfoot.
