Astley's sudden popularity is the result of an internet prank campaign that began as a geeky joke 18 months ago and has grown into a web craze of monster proportions. To be "Rickrolled" is to be unwittingly redirected to a video clip of Never Gonna Give You Up — a prank that has no apparent point other than to illicit a giggle from the unsuspecting viewer.

The eighties crooner Rick Astley is a surprise inclusion in this year' 'Best Ever Act' at the MTV Europe Awards, seeing him pitted against the like of U2, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Green Day and Tokio Hotel.
The populairty of the "rick-rolling" trend has been undeniable, and normally, I'd say he probably wouldn't stand a chance, but as the winner will be chosen 'by fans online' I'd say he might just pull it off.

Attorney in 2 Live Crew Obscenity Case Barred From Law Practice
The obscenity-crusading attorney, who launched a campaign to ban 2 Live Crew's As Nasty as They Wanna Be in 1989, has been banished from the law profession in his home state.
The Florida Supreme Court this week revoked Jack Thompson's license to practice law, finding that he made numerous false statements in court, according to news reports.
Although Thompson can appeal to federal courts, he has to have another attorney represent him. Further, Florida's highest court has ordered him to close his practice within 30 days and pay more than $40,000.
Miami's 2 Live Crew were hardly alone in Thompson's long list of targets. The 57-year-old attorney, an evangelist, also went after shock-jock Howard Stern, pornography and the video game industry. He filed lawsuits against the maker of the Grand Theft Auto series, alleging that the video game "mentally molest[ed] minors for money," according to a report on Gamespot.com.

La società di oggi è in piena confusione, inflazionata dai media, dalle immagini, dalla politica e tutto ciò ci assale di continuo e noi diventiamo vittime di questi cambiamenti rocamboleschi. Il soggetto della mia clip, non sceglie la corsa per un momento di liberazione ma è consapevole del cambiamento e sopravvive a questa società come uomo comune. La corsa è una consuetudine e durante il percorso, gli vengono in mente inevitabilmente come dei flashback i momenti della sera precedente , l'incontro con persone, il classico giro nei centri commerciali, la routine della quotidianità, fatta ormai di shopping e confusione a volte senza che ciò abbia realmente un senso e questi comportamenti ci accomunano sempre di più in una società consumista come gli States dove gli americani fanno file e tendopoli per la prima di qualche film o per offerte di questo tipo.
Per capire ciò, basta guardate cosa è successo in un centro commerciale qualche mese fa in occasione della svendita di un telefonino Nokia a 99 euro. Migliaia di persone in fila per acquistarlo a un prezzo inferiore a quello normale di vendita.

Diddy Continues Reality Programming With "Starmaker"
Sean "Diddy" Combs will continue his foray into reality television next January, when the music mogul joins with Mark Burnett, executive producer of Survivor and The Apprentice, for the reality talent show Starmaker. Much like he did with the Making the Band series, Combs will search for aspiring solo performers. Individual performers selected will be housed together in a coed environment featuring male and female performers.
Combs' executive producer credit on Starmaker will bring the Bad Boy and Sean John founder's total of reality shows to four. He currently serves as the executive producer of the MTV series Making The Band, Run's House and the VH1 series I Want to Work For Diddy.
