Rep Marcy Kaptur blasts the establishment over Wall Street corruption!!
This video is truly inspiring! Cut with scenes from "the Network" this outburst carries with it the message that every lawmaker should be shouting right now in the name of the people they represent, "You've raped us long enough! It's time to pay for your sins and for the American people to prevent this from ever happening again!! We will not let you get away with it!"
Marcy Kaptur has won my heart by telling it how it is! That's some straight-talk that John McCain would never dare attempt. This video is truly inspiring! Cut with scenes from "the Network" this outburst carries with it the message that every lawma... more -

How to get happiness from romance novels?
Romance novels work as the intravenous fluid injected directly into the blood to build and energize the relationship along with added spice and fun. These novels provide remedial measures to the sagging relationship. But the real problem of our youth is that they don’t understand the importance of reading the romance novels. Challenge Poverty (with Save the Children USA)
Not all of us can put our lives on hold to fly to some country to help the poor. But I have, so why not tell me how I should help them? In this video, you can see that I've decided to team up with Save the Children USA. I've narrowed it down to five options:
- Build a deep tube well
- Build a pond sand filter
- Buy 80 Salter Scales to help fight malnutrition among babies
- Build a school latrine
- Repair a School Damaged by Cyclone Sidr
There is enough money to either repair the school OR do any 2 (or 3) of the other options. The sidebar info on the YouTube video has details on how you can vote. HBO miniseries "John Adams" nominated for 23 Emmys
John Adams, HBO's prestige historical drama about one of America's founding fathers, swept up 23 Emmy nominations today, the largest number of any program in any category.
Among the nominations was a lead-actor nomination for Paul Giamatti, who played Adams in the adaptation of David McCullough's Pulitzer-prize winning biography of the second president, who was born in Braintree in an area now part of Quincy.
In addition to recognition in several technical and artistic categories, Laura Linney also garnered an Emmy nomination for lead actress in the role of Abigail Adams. Supporting nods went to three actors portraying Founding Fathers: David Morse as George Washington, Stephen Dillane as Thomas Jefferson, and Tom Wilkinson as Benjamin Franklin. The star-studded, seven-part HBO series is co-executive produced by Tom Hanks.
The three-hour debut of the John Adams miniseries was seen in 2.7 million households nationwide, according to the Nielsen Co., the best series debut HBO has seen since 2004. Man With No Limbs Beats Able Bodied Swimmers
In last Sunday's Pittsburgh Triathlon, there were a lot of individual competitors and teams with competitors for each event.
One team, however, stood out.
That team contained three friends: Jim on the Bike, Ned doing the running, and Craig Dietz doing the swimming.
However, Dietz was born with no arms or legs.
"It felt great when I first decided to do it," said Dietz. "I was a little unsure and even leading up to it I was a little unsure. You can swim 100 miles in the pool and it's not going to prepare you for swimming in that river."
This is hardly his first athletic endeavor, Dietz enjoys bowling and has played volleyball too.
He skis in the winter and, with the help of an inventive father, he's been fishing and hunting since he was a kid.
"Anytime I wanted to do anything, he figured out a way for me to do it," said Dietz.
Dietz loves athletics and to him not even the Allegheny River is intimidating.
"All of my weight is centered, I am extremely buoyant. I can't dive. I wish that I could. I'd like to dive under the water," said Dietz.
In the end, he finished 275th out of 308 participants. In last Sunday's Pittsburgh Triathlon, there were a lot of individual competitors and teams with competitors for each event. ... more -
Environmental Action Home
A great way to stay actively involved in energy and environmental issues with links to petitions in your area and the world.
"Thirty-five years ago, millions of Americans were no longer willing to put up with black smoke belching from car tailpipes, industries fouling drinking water with toxic pollution, or developers paving over wild places.
Those Americans figured out which members of Congress were doing the most damage and called them the Dirty Dozen. They signed petitions, they lobbied their representatives, and they voted. And then, after they organized the inaugural Earth Day in 1970, many of those pioneers created a new organization to help them do all of those things better. That group was Environmental Action.
Environmental Action got results. They helped convince one of the most corrupt, special-interest-beholden presidents in history, Richard Nixon, to sign the most far-reaching environmental laws in American history: the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act and the Endangered Species Act.
Unfortunately, three decades later, environmental and political problems remain. Polluters are still looking for the quick buck, and the federal government, especially President Bush, is looking to give away the store.
It's time to go back to what worked so well 35 years ago. Some of the most successful activists of the past several decades have revived Environmental Action. Our mission is to deliver impassioned, results-oriented activism that protects our environment from special interest polluters and their allies in government." Teri Garr is an amazing person
Man, I had no idea all the stuff Teri Garr has been through. She’s had MS for 20+ years and had a brain aneurysm where they had to drill a hole in her head and wrapped a coil around her brain. See the Wikipedia summary here:

I’m watching her on Late Night with David Letterman and she’s amazing. I can’t begin to imagine the type of strength this woman has and I have a new found appreciation for her. Watch the Letterman clip I've posted here then you tell me if you’d go on national TV if you'd been what she’s been through and how you’d compare to her.
