    • Thoughts from the Dark Side | MVN - Madsen back with the Raiders - Seth Wand put o...

So the Raiders didn’t let Madsen get away to another team. After being cut before the Buffalo game for the Ben Troupe free-agent signing, the Raiders recalled him from their unofficial practice squad by re-signing him today in place of the injured Seth Wand. Wand will go on the IR with a knee injury. This signing gives the Raiders four tight ends on the roster.... So the Raiders didn’t let Madsen get away to another team. • Oakland Raiders long national nightmare finally over, or is it? Special Correspond...

The drama has finally ceased with Lane Kiffin’s long anticipated departure coming to pass. It seems as if the Raiders can now move on like a nice normal football team, but this is the Oakland Raiders. Our special correspondent L Dizzle takes a look at whether the drama is finally in the past and the Raiders can ultimately move on, or whether this is just the eye of the storm. • An easy answer to the Raiders Chaos

The soap opera that is the Oakland Raiders front office makes for great theater, but a horrid way to run a professional football franchise. The biggest piece to the drama is the lack of any significant official comments one way or another on the situation dating back to the beginning of the Lane Kiffin saga in January. There is one way that this drama could be put to bed for good, and that would be for Al Davis to hold court with the media and answer some questions about what is going on inside Raiders headquarters. • Tarnished Icon: is Al Davis at the center of the Oakland Raiders' crisis?

There are few names in sports that elicit a passionate visceral response, but the name Al Davis has a nearly universal effect. He is the man who built the Oakland Raiders into a powerhouse, but he has also been the captain of the ship that has gone 19-62 since Super Bowl XXXVII. • Why We Love Al Davis

With all the talk of "mavericks" in this election season, we in Current's PDIG, as part of our enduring Commitment to Excellence, would like to celebrate the true original maverick of the AFL and NFL - the man who defied Pete Rozelle, the master of the vertical passing game, the progenitor of pride and poise, the only man who could give George Steinbrenner tips on how to fire a coach, the denizen of the track suit, the individual solely responsible for the continuing presence of Brylcreem on our drugstore shelves, the Managing General Partner of the mighty Oakland Raiders himself, the inimitable Allen "Al" Davis.

Please feel free to share your thoughts and memories of this towering and still ever-so-vital presence on the American sporting landscape.

    • TFDS | MVN - TFDS Prayer of the Week: Ponies from Colorado

As the season is now upon us, I remembered a quote from Matt Millen in America’s game describing the famous Raiders saying, “If you’re not cheating, you’re not trying.” How he described the meaning of that quote was appropriate for those great 70’s and 80’s teams. I don’t have the quote with me right now, but what he said was that the meaning of that message was that you do whatever it takes to win. If that meant pulling a facemask or grabbing a jersey, then that’s what you did. Whatever you did, a Raider never gave up.... • Javon Walker talked out of retiring by Oakland Raiders boss Al Davis?

As you may have already heard, Chris Mortensen is reporting that he has a source who is confirming that Javon Walker tried to retire on Thursday. According to the source, Walker was unhappy with his performance thus far on the practice field. During training camp, it’s been reported here that he’s been struggling and that Lane Kiffin was hoping that he’d be further along... • Are the Oakland Raiders players really tired of losing?

Of course, nobody likes to lose. If you’ve ever played on a team that just couldn’t seem to get it together and forced you to suffer through a losing season, then you know what I mean. Losing affects players differently. Some accept it, while others make life miserable for their teammates with criticism... Of course, nobody likes to lose. • Davis to Kiffin: just resign, baby

Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis has been pushing for coach Lane Kiffin to resign and is considering Dennis Green as a potential replacement, sources close to Kiffin and the team said.

Davis has gone so far as to draft a letter of resignation for Kiffin to sign, a source said. Kiffin has refused to do so but has dared Davis to fire him instead. The letter, the source said, was sent to Kiffin two weeks ago.

      WTF?!?!?!?!?

Now I'm starting to believe that The Godfather has lost it.

      I mean, really, WTF?!?!?

Help me make sense of this, please!

    • McFadden's Makin the Leap & Going Pro

Who didn't see this coming? I actually can't believe that some people thought that this guy would stay around. I think after Matt Leinart decided to stay everyone thinks, "Oh well this guy has something to play for next year in college". The truth is in the game of Football you jump into the pro's whenever you can and especially if you are likely to be the first or second player drafted at your position. Those signing bonuses just don't come back around again and this guys draft value was just to good to pass up. Safe travels and good luck with big boys Darren.

      From the article
FAYETTEVILLE ? Darren McFadden isn't sticking around for another run at the Heisman Trophy. The Arkansas All-American announced Monday he'll skip his senior season and enter the NFL draft.

"When I was growing up, I dreamed of playing for the Razorbacks," McFadden said. "Now, the time has come for me to pursue another dream of mine ? playing in the NFL."

Are you a fan of the Super Bowl Shuffle? Well, the then Los Angeles Raiders tried to one-up the Bears with their classic "Silver and Black Attack" video from 1986.
