Would Hillary Get 'The Office'?
Maybe she’s a Michael Scott.
What should Hillary Clinton do with her time if she finally leaves the campaign trail? “I think she should watch The Office,” said Kate Flannery, who plays the disgruntled alcoholic Meredith on the show, at an NBC party May 13. “But I don’t know if she’d get it, to be honest with you.” Why not? “Steve Carell has quoted Ricky Gervais as saying, ‘If you don’t know a Michael Scott, then you are a Michael Scott,’ ” Flannery said. “She’s unconscious of the way that she’s perceived in many ways, I think. And her attempts to be cool fall a little short.” So Hillary’s a Michael? “Maybe she’s an Angela,” Flannery said. “Or a Jan.” Maybe she’s a Michael Scott. ... more -
Do Amerian / British remakes ever work?
The Office and Life on Mars being the crux of it. ABC also tend to have four times the mount of money thrown at it. And retooling of The Apprentice the US version being one long plug for Donald Trump's numerous shoddy office blocks.

One Hour Finale of The Office: "Goodbye, Toby"
Awww, tear! As much as I think The Office hasn't been quite as glorious this season as it has in the past, I'm still going to miss it when it's gone. I'm also just itching to see tonight's one-hour finale because what if something big happens (like a you-know-what from Jim)?! Tonight already promises a sad farewell (the title of the episode is "Goodbye, Toby") and a special guest star (the Oscar-nominated Amy Ryan of Gone Baby Gone, pictured).
The episode description is this: "It's Toby's goodbye party at Dunder Mifflin and Michael demands a huge celebration that matches the joy in his heart. Angela, sick of Michael's unreasonable last minute demands, refuses, and Michael turns to Phyllis to take over the party planning committee. Meanwhile, Dwight and Meredith haze the new HR woman, Holly (Amy Ryan)."
One of the promos claims there will be "surprises right down to the very last second." Aaah! Cheesy as it may sound, I've already got butterflies in my stomach. What about you? What are your hopes and dreams for tonight's Season Four finale?

"Office" fans, bow down to your queen
Forget “Lost.” Tonight, it’s all about “The Office.”
Yes, most of you probably know that the NBC comedy is back from the Writers Strike doldrums, returning tonight (8pm Central) with new episodes, and more importantly, new questions about the Dunder-Mifflin romances, break-ups, and shake-ups in store for fans.
Indeed, the devoted fan base has kept “The Office” all-too relevant despite being off the air for five months. Other strike-grounded shows, now struggling to regain their footing, would kill for that kind of loyalty.
At the center of the “Office” faniverse sits Jennie Tan, a Silicon Valley technical writer who single-handedly runs OfficeTally, arguably one of the best fansites on the web.
And with a new episode on tap, along with recent (but touchy) news of a spinoff in the works, we couldn’t help but drop her a line. Caution: This interview may lead to increased hours spent watching “The Office.”
Fresh Cut: How and when was “Office Tally” born?
Jennie Tan: OfficeTally went live in February 2006, about halfway through “The Office” Season 2. It was originally created as a place for people to rate the episodes (hence the “tally” in “officetally”), and nothing more. Of course, since then, OfficeTally has become more of a news site, but the name stuck!
FC: How did OfficeTally manage to set itself apart from so many other fan sites?
JT: I think part of it is luck — luck in that the site started pretty early in the show’s run. And having so much support from the show’s producers, writers, cast, and crew has been fantastic, too. Last but not least, the OfficeTally readers, or Tallyheads as they are called, do a fantastic job of providing news tips for the site. OfficeTally would not be as content-rich without the Tallyheads!

NBC announces Office spinoff series
NBC has decided to do what they call an “in-front” presentation of next season’s year-round programming strategy, which includes lineups for fall, winter and as far ahead as next summer.
NBC president Ben Silverman is still invested in the series that put him on the map: The peacock network has ordered an Office spinoff, set to premiere this winter in the 9:30 slot after the original series
It will premiere immediately following the Super Bowl in January '09.
Greg Daniels is "behind" the idea, even though he and his writing team will clearly be kind of busy doing the 28 half-hours of the original series that NBC has requested for the '08-'09 season.
Per Ben Silverman, it is "very likely" you will see some Dunder-Mifflin-ites cross over to the new series.
Expanded hour-long Office episodes is how next season will begin. In October for several weeks, the second half-hour will be taken over by prime-time Saturday Night Live political specials.

News for Cube Dwellers: A Dundler-Mifflin Expansion!
NBC officially greenlighted its long-rumored (and not a particularly well-received rumor at that) spinoff of The Office during its annual upfront conference in New York Wednesday.
Scarce details are known about the Dundler-Mifflin redux, including whether the new series will in any way be connected to the folks in the Scranton branch, whether any of the current Office workers will cross over or whether it will be just be a faux-documentary workplace format that the two shows share.
As promised/threatened earlier this year, NBC is limiting its order for high-priced pilots, pushing as many new shows as it can directly into series production. The Office spinoff will be one of the first shows to follow the model, bypassing any formal pilot.
The spinoff will get a massive midseason push in 2009, as it is tentatively slated to debut following NBC's Feb. 1 broadcast of the Super Bowl. NBC officially greenlighted its long-rumored (and not a particularly well-received rumor at that) spinoff of The Office during its ann... more -

How can Steve Carell be nominated and not 'the Office'?
I love Steve Carell and he certainly deserves a nomination for Best Actor in a Comedy series because, well because he IS 'the Office'. That being said, how can one be nominated without the other? It's like nominating Hugh Laurie and Ricky Gervais without nominating House or Extras..they are the show so you must nominate both!

NBC Fire 102 Crew Members From "The Office"
"I respect the WGA's position. They probably do deserve a larger percentage of profit participation, but a lengthy strike will affect more than just the writers and studios. On my show we had 14 writers. There were also 2 cameramen, 2 camera assistants, 4 hair stylists, 4 makeup artists, 7 wardrobe people, 4 grips, 4 electricians, 2 craft service, 4 props people, 6 construction, 1 medic, 3 art department, 5 set dressers, 3 sound men, 3 stand-ins, 2 set PAs, 4 assistant directors, 1 DGA trainee, 1 unit manager, 6 production office personnel, 3 casting people, 4 writers assistants, 1 script supervisor, 2 editors, 2 editors assistants, 3 post production personnel, 1 facilities manager, 8 drivers, 2 location managers, 3 accountants, 4 caterers and a producer who's not a writer. All 102 of us are now out of work." "I respect the WGA's position. They probably do deserve a larger percentage of profit participation, but a lengthy strike will affect ... more
