    • 100 victims of Britain's sickest phone pest

A phone pest who made sadistic calls threatening to rape and kidnap was jailed for four years yesterday.

More than a hundred women and teenagers as young as 16 were terrified by Ian Parry, 48, who rang from phone boxes and warned them he had their family captive. One terrified victim, a young recruitment agency worker, was ordered to say explicit sexual remarks over the phone or face being tracked down and raped.

A boy of 16 was told his mother had been kidnapped, gagged and tied to a bed.

Factory worker Parry was arrested in a phone kiosk in August last year.

He was tracked down in a joint swoop by police and BT. The country's sickest phone pest had made atleast 105 menacing calls from in and around his home town of Bacup, Lancs.

He told police he got sexual pleasure from the harassment. Victims had "psychological damage" so married dad Parry was charged with causing actual bodily harm. He admitted eight offences and asked for 97 others to be considered.

Jailing him at Burnley crown court, Judge Simon Newell told him: "There was planning and premeditation. There was substantial verbal sadism and demeaning and humiliating behaviour in obtaining power over your victims."

A police spokesman said: "The effect these calls had on the victims can only be described as horrific."

Bt said: "This is one of the worst cases of its kind we have ever had. No one can get away with this behaviour."

    • Judge bans 'Tickle lawyer' from park

      Uhhh...

A judge on Friday banned a local attorney from a Glen Carbon park after police charged the man with asking people whether he could tickle their children.

Glen Carbon Police charged Charles R. Douglas, who has a law practice in Glen Carbon, with four misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct. He is accused of talking to people at Miner Park about wanting to tickle children.

Douglas, 58, told a reporter that for years he has done a "tickle monster" routine with children and that it's "a joking thing that I do." He said he enjoys seeing children laugh and smile, and never touches a child without permission from a parent.

Douglas said the charges are "the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen." He said he's considering lawsuits against the police and against the people who made reports to police.

After the charges were filed, Madison County Associate Judge Steve Stobbs ordered that Douglas not enter Miner Park. Douglas said he goes to the park to walk, for exercise.

Douglas said he was booked Friday and released with a notice to appear in court later

    • Donna Smith to Obama and McCain: You don't speak for this SiCKO

During every national election cycle at about this time in the big races, I start to want to scream into the great abyss of political hype flying around. "You don't speak for me. You haven't seen what it's like to live in America's real middle class for a long time," I want to thunder as loudly as they do their messages of kinship with me.

I am a middle class grandmother. I grew up in Illinois. I was raised to care about God and country. I may not have achieved a great level of renown, but I think I have just as much right to weigh in on this nation's future as those who claim to know me but just don't.
      [...]
Let's talk healthcare, for example. And let's talk reality for middle class folks like me. This issue permeates so many different parts of my life. From where I work to where I shop, rising costs for healthcare invade not only my bottom line in wages and benefits but also every business and every product and every service I use.

I know gas prices matter too, but any wonk who claims to speak for me is lying if he or she fails to talk about what the costs of healthcare are doing in a much more insidious way. If today's price for a night in the hospital or an "extended" visit with my doctor was posted on every street corner like gas prices are, I dare say the conversation might shift. And while we're at it, let's post the cost each business paid for health insurance coverage for its employees. [...]

I watch my country's infrastructure crumble -- the potholes, the traffic jams, the weakened and old bridges. I worry about the gun violence our young people live with -- and I am married to a hunter, a man who loves guns used for sporting purposes. When I do get to fly, I am herded onto airplanes that may or may not take off on time or at all -- and I have no recourse for time lost, bosses angered or family members inconvenienced. I wonder if any of this will matter if the global warming issues overtake any of the momentary concerns and the planet does not survive our abuse.

And finally, I do love my country and our troops and my freedom. I am sad about our current world situation as I think about what World War II vets like my dad fought for and believed in. Are there times when war must be waged? Yes. But I am afraid we've completely screwed up our set of priorities and really do not like our warring for oil and world dominance while we send mosquito nets and missionaries into areas where tens of millions die enduring conditions we will not fight. That is not my middle class realty nor my values at work.

I am not safe in my homeland. I am bombarded by conditions over which I have no control that threaten my personal safety daily. Healthcare costs and all the deaths related to that crisis right here on American soil are evidence enough for me -- my personal safely is not being protected by anyone.

There are plenty of people in the middle class who could and should speak up during these troubled times. I just want those in the upper classes who claim they speak for me to stop it... tell me the truth for a change. You speak for whatever interest you find potentially profitable at the moment. But you do not speak for me.

I will speak for myself. You will not define which issues to rant about and impose on me. My daily life defines the issues for me. And as one of the middle class reality wonks in this nation, I can tell you I am pretty angry and pretty disgusted with all who claim to know better than I do what the world I live in is like.

    • Gary Glitter skips off the plane back to UK, refuses to leave Thailand

Gary Glitter has been declared "persona non grata" by the Thai authorities and threatened with deportation back to Vietnam, where he has just served three years for child sex offences.

The disgraced rock singer is in limbo at Bangkok airport after complaining of chest pains during a stopover on his return to Britain.

Glitter, 64, had flown in from Vietnam following his release from prison but failed to board an onward flight to London.

A doctor examined him in the transit lounge and said Glitter was suffering from a minor inflammation in his chest. He prescribed painkillers and declared him fit to travel.

Thailand's immigration chief said Glitter, who checked into an airside hotel called the Louis Tavern, would not be allowed to enter Thailand.

"We will have to repatriate him back to Vietnam, because he is on our watch list as persona non grata. Thai immigration cannot let him enter," Lt Gen Chatchawal Suksomjit said.

    • Good Luck If You're Uninsured

The Ithaca Health Alliance runs a free clinic in Ithaca, NY to care for those whom the health insurance system has left behind. Politicians have promised universal health care for generations, but more Americans than ever before remain un-or-underinsured and in constant fear for their health. Millions of the uninsured are young college grads like Justine and her boyfriend Brian, who are caught off guard when a serious illness strikes and feel trapped when insurance won't cover her "pre-existing condition." • Gays threaten the religious!

In what is being described as "another blow to religious liberty" in Canada, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario has ordered a Christian organization to cease using an employment contract which has staff promise they will not engage in "homosexual relationships." Moreover, the ruling demands that the organization pay $23,000, plus two years wages and benefits to a woman who signed onto the contract and then entered a homosexual relationship and was subsequently dismissed.

In an April 15 ruling, released today, the Tribunal ruled against Christian Horizons, an Evangelical Christian Ministry that provides care and residential services to 1,400 developmentally disabled individuals with over 180 residential homes across Ontario, and 2,500 employees.

The ruling which was decided by a single adjudicator - Michael Gottheil - ruled further that all managers and employees receive a pro-homosexuality "human rights training program"...

Connie Heintz, an employee who signed onto the "morality statement" as a condition of employment, promised not to engage in "homosexual relationships", among other anti-Christian activities such as "extra-marital sexual relationships (adultery)", "pre-marital sexual relationships (fornication)", "viewing or reading pornographic material" and "lying".

When Heintz entered into a homosexual relationship and her employers came to know of it, she claims she was subject to a poisoned work environment and threatened with loss of her job. She quit her job in 2000."

it's too bad she just didn't decide that she violated the agreement, which would have been more honest AND legal!!!! Another indication of the sense of unbridled entitlement gays bring with them, everywhere they go, even when religious values and more honest respect for those values would and should demand more, even if you don't agree with them.

Common freakn sense would tell most people: if you don't agree with the value system of an organization and you've gone so far to AGREE to do so IN WRITING, but no longer wish to...very simply leave quietly and find another job!

Usually he took Allegra but during his back to school physical, his pediatrician made the change. Singulair was FDA approved for treating asthma in February 1998 and in 2003 got the green light to treat seasonal allergy symptoms.

Millions of people have taken the drug.

    • Are Criminals 'Bad' or Just Malnourished and given drugs that can cause ...

Now that it is finally coming out on the mainstream media that antidepressants and children's cough medicine are bad news, maybe in another 10 years the USA will kindly let its citizens know that bad diet and nutrition are a big part of the problem in both violence and depression and health problems and obesity..I knew about problems with antidepressants in Britain.10 years ago with a quick internet search but I was told by my MD to shut up and go with the flow or be a neglectful parent., I also knew about the benefits of Omega 3 and supplements from a lab study in Oxford and Harvard

....It has been like a nightmare watching my community fall for this nonsense...I am hopeful for a "Change" but am not sure it will happen yet. ..the dynamics are still not changing ..I hope I am wrong.

http://www.askapatient.com is an important site for Americans who are being brainwashed by Pharmaceutical sponsored Advertising. Look at it carefully and scroll down to see all rankings..not just the top ones that tend to be more positive. Also be sure to see the cold and allergy meds we are all taking that cause violent behavior.
