Weezy -versus- Al Sharpton
(from The Carter III - "misunderstood" / "I don't get it")
- "Al Sharpton suffers for a good two minutes during a Lil' Wayne drug influenced soliloquy. Why Weezy went after Big Al, I do not know. I do agree with him though for the reason that Al Sharpton does not speak on behalf of Black people" [ http://www.yorapper.com/review-lil-wayne-tha-carter-3/] (from The Carter III - "misunderstood" / "I don't get it") ... more -

Al Sharpton owes $1.5 million in taxes
Government records obtained by The Associated Press indicate that Sharpton and his business entities owe nearly $1.5 million in overdue taxes and associated penalties.
Now the U.S. attorney is investigating his nonprofit group, an inquiry that an undeterred Sharpton brushes off as the kind of annoyance that civil rights figures have come to expect from the government.
Sharpton's own debts include $365,558 owed in New York City income tax and $931,397 in unpaid federal income tax, according to a lien filed by the Internal Revenue Service last spring. His for-profit company, Rev. Al Communications, owes the state another $175,962 in delinquent taxes.

The Rev. Al Sharpton was arrested at the Brooklyn Bridge Wednesday as hundreds of demonstrators blocked traffic to protest the acquittals of three detectives in the 50-bullet shooting of an unarmed black man.
Sharpton, two survivors of the shooting and the slain man's fiancee were among about a dozen people arrested near the base of the bridge; police led away demonstrators at several other bridges and tunnels in the city, including seven or eight people arrested at the Holland Tunnel on Manhattan's West Side shortly after 4:30 p.m. The Rev. "We strategically know how to stop the city so people stand still and realize that you do not have the right to shoot down unarmed, innocent civilians," Sharpton told several hundred people who packed the street-front hall of his National Action Network office. James Brown and Al Sharpton collabo
Who knew that in 1981 James Brown made a CD featuring the Reverend Al Sharpton?
Just came across this looking for pictures of the Rev on Google. Amazing pairing, I think. Definitely going to buy this CD. It would be great to see such pairings continue today. It is hard to see any credible politician or religious figure doing something with Ja Rule or Kanye West. But how about a pairing of Common and Cynthia Chestnut? Something like that would be rather amazing. Unlikely politicians of today would do it, as everyone is so concerned with being as central as possible so as to maintain a wide constituency. Ridiculous. Click on the cd in the linked page, there is a song sample there. Who knew that in 1981 James Brown made a CD featuring the Reverend Al Sharpton? ... more -

Knicks Coach Isiah Thomas Guilty of Sexual Harassment
The jury said Thomas subjected a married mother of three to unwanted advances and verbal insults, but that he should not have to pay punitive damages (aka some random sum of money meant to compensate the victim for the suffering and to punish the bad guy).
