A-Rod, Yankees fizzle; Bailey, Red Sox sizzle
NEW YORK – Alex Rodriguez, who has been here before, flopped miserably, the boos so loud by the end of the night that Tiger Woods, whose departure from his home-plate seats caused a commotion, didn’t stick around to see A-Rod tack a final K on a night that went K, GIDP, 8, GIDP, K – and for good measure, E-5.
“For me personally, it was a long night,” Rodriguez said after the New York Yankees’ 7-3 loss to the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night, “and I pretty much screwed it up any way you can screw it up.” NEW YORK – Alex Rodriguez, who has been here before, flopped miserably, the boos so loud by the end of the night that Tiger Woods, who... more -

A-Rod Wins MVP
It should come as no surprise that this years AL MVP is Alex Rodriguez.
From article
NEW YORK -- Alex Rodriguez is headed back to the New York Yankees as the American League's Most Valuable Player.
A-Rod won his third AL MVP award Monday, easily defeating Detroit's Magglio Ordonez after compiling an astounding season at the plate. Rodriguez received 26 first-place votes and 382 points in balloting by the Baseball Writers' Association of America, while Ordonez had two firsts and 258 points.
Rodriguez started the year with 14 homers in his first 18 games, hit .314 for the season and led the majors with 54 homers, 156 RBIs and 143 runs. He was the first player since New York's Roger Maris in 1961 to lead in the majors in homers, RBIs and runs, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
Los Angeles Angels slugger Vladimir Guerrero finished third in the voting with 203 points, and Boston's David Ortiz (177) was fourth.
The only two first-place votes that didn't go to Rodriguez were from Tom Gage of The Detroit News and Jim Hawkins of The Oakland Press in Pontiac, Mich. It should come as no surprise that this years AL MVP is Alex Rodriguez. From article ... more -
Buffett advisd A-Rod to cut out Boras
Buffett vs Boras in the A-Rod decision to go to NY. The picture is the only one I could find with Buffett in a sports environment.
From the article...
NEW YORK -- Warren Buffett advised Alex Rodriguez to approach the New York Yankees and go around agent Scott Boras, The Wall Street Journal reported Saturday.
The newspaper cited a person familiar with the matter, whom it did not identify.
"A-Rod really loves being a Yankee," Buffett was quoted as saying. He wouldn't comment on the substance of any discussions with the player.
The two became friends several years ago.
Rodriguez, on Boras' advise, opted out of the final three seasons of his record $252 million, 10-year contract on Oct. 28. The Yankees had said many times that if he opted out, they wouldn't negotiate because they would lose $21.3 million from Texas for the final three seasons that was agreed to at the time of the 2004 trade, money to offset the $72 million New York owed from 2008-10.
Upset with developments after he opted out, Rodriguez contacted Buffett, and the investor told him to approach the Yankees without his agent, the Journal said.
After speaking with the investor, Rodriguez contacted a managing director at Goldman Sachs that he knew, John Mallory, who then got in touch with Gerald Cardinale, a Goldman Sachs managing director who has worked with the Yankees and their YES Network.
With the assistance of the two Goldman executives, Rodriguez and the Yankees negotiated a $275 million, 10-year contract that is in the process of being finalized.

A-Rod's Agent Votes for Free Agency
What a shocker - Scott Boras wants A-Rod to opt-out of his current deal that pays him $25M a season in order to get a longer deal that could net him possibly $30M per. Insane.
Since Boras feels that Rodriguez's looming free agency is more valuable than any other player's, he will undoubtedly recommend that Rodriguez, 32, forgo the potential $91 million left on his deal. Boras would not estimate what Rodriguez could make on the open market, but it is believed that Boras could seek a 10-year contract for $300 million for his client.
Where's he going? My guess is Angels, Dodgers or Cubbies. I can see him wearing the Angels red and forming a nasty 1-2 with Vladdy for a long time. What a shocker - Scott Boras wants A-Rod to opt-out of his current deal that pays him $25M a season in order to get a longer deal that... more -
