Does the Web remain a Free World?
Think the Internet will always be the freewheeling, democratic information superhighway you've grown to rely on? Well, think again. Corporate media giants are working hard behind the scenes to convince a clueless and compliant Congress to privatize the Internet. The telecom and cable giants want to fence off the Internet with one area for the haves--who will pay a premium to enjoy life in the fast lane--and the other for the have-nots.
.. have your say! Think the Internet will always be the freewheeling, democratic information superhighway you've grown to rely on? Well, think agai... more -

Web 3.0 - Making money from your friends
Busted Tees, an online t-shirt company, has announced a new Facebook application that will turn every user into an affiliate marketer. People who install the application on their profile page will make money every time their friends use the application to buy a t-shirt.
C|Net News reports, "It's $5 per shirt, to be exact, and if you install the BustedTees widget by clicking on the profile of a friend who already has it, that friend will make $1 per shirt sold through your profile. You get paid either through checks in the mail or via Paypal."
As Web 2.0 reaches a new level of maturity, speculation has started to increase on trends that will become "Web 3.0". If a main focus of Web 2.0 is using user-generated content to create profits for companies, I wouldn't be surprised if Web 3.0 includes profit sharing models for web services and their users in the form of micropayments and discounted goods. 40-inch LCD TV panel.. just 0.39-inches thin
With Sharp, Hitachi, and LG.Philips all announcing ultra-thin LCDs we were beginning to wonder, where's Samsung with their world's first / biggest / thinnest boasting? No more. Meet the 10-mm (0.39-inch) thin, 40-inch LED-backlit, Full HD LCD TV panel which covers 92% of the NTSC color gamut while consuming less than 90 watts of power. That profile easily bests the crazy thin measurements we've already seen. At the moment, however, no price or production run details are available. That could change on Wednesday when the panel goes on display at FPD International in Japan. I remixed a film from the 1920's.....inspired by current's new website and delicious free music library....I hope this doesn't give anyone nightmares...
it helps to pause and allow this video to load for a while before viewing.
FYI: historians say that over a quarter of the original footage is now lost forever...when imported to America in1927, the entire thesis of the film was lost and distorted in editing....at the time, it was believed the message was too much for american audiences...
the version of the film currently available, demonizes the protagonist (Joh Fredersen) the man who runs Metropolis. in the original version, Federsen's character is the hero who throws a wrench into his own machine ...and lifts up the working class..
the US version plays out like a love story...only establishes villains or heroes....and totally botches the director's (Fritz Lang) original message.
yay 4 hollywood...bringing us spineless, diluted entertainment for over a century...woo hoo. I remixed a film from the 1920's.....inspired by current's new website and delicious free music library....I hope this doesn... more -

Can we design gadgets that age?
The interesting thing about how many items used to made was not only that they lasted longer, but that they have a more natural life cycle i.e. a carbon-steel pan gets seasoned and improved with use. Now, new technology feels more disposable I'm on my third iPod, but having paid for only one of them. Nostalgia for this idea seems to also be part of the appeal of steampunk and is gaining critical mass in some circles.
