Two-headed Dragon Turns One
Zak-n-Wheezie is a two-headed Bearded Dragon belonging to the Wittes family in Fowler, California. Apparently when the lizard(s?) were younger, the Wittes has to lay low to stop circus sideshow types from trying to get hold of the unusual duo.
Apparently the Wittes will not part with Zak-n-Wheezie for anything less than a million dollars, though there are people out there who would pay that much to eat the Wittes' pet.
"There are people who will pay large amounts to eat a two-headed critter. They think it will give them eternal life," says Frank Witte, shaking his head. Zak-n-Wheezie is a two-headed Bearded Dragon belonging to the Wittes family in Fowler, California. Apparently when the lizard(s?) wer... more -

Teen gets jailed for coaxing toddlers to smoke pot
A teenager shown on a video coaxing his 2- and 4-year-old nephews into smoking marijuana was sentenced to eight years in prison.
Demetris McCoy, 18, pleaded guilty to two charges of injury to a child/causing bodily injury and agreed to testify against his co-defendant. The video shows one teen lighting a marijuana cigarette in the 2-year-old's mouth, then laughing as the toddler coughs. One teen then tells him to pass it to his brother, who also smokes it and coughs.
Drug tests showed the youngsters had marijuana and cocaine in their bodies. When the video was made, the children's mother was sleeping in another room, police have said. She was not arrested, but the children have since been placed in foster care.
Fort Worth police found the video while searching a house in connection with a burglary investigation in which McCoy also was charged. He pleaded guilty to two burglary charges and received eight-year sentences that he will served at the same time, the newspaper reported.

Woman flies to Canary Islands on her husband's passport
Andrea Cole picked up the wrong passport when leaving her home in Cardiff for a holiday with her mother, and did not realise her mistake until she was on the plane and her flight was about to leave.
Cole said she had accidentally taken her husband's passport and passed two airport checks at Cardiff International Airport without incident. When she realised the mistake, she was already on board the plane - 10 minutes before take off.
She said: "I did a quick check, and thought: 'That's not mine'. I looked at my mum, and we just sat there for ages, not knowing what to do. I couldn't think straight. We decided to see what happened at the other end, and agree with whatever they said. But when the passport was checked at entry, the man looked at it, and gave it straight back to me before waving us through. We were waiting to be taken aside and told there was a problem and it never happened."
Mrs Cole, whose friends in Fuerteventura had a photocopy of her passport, contacted the British Consulate, but they were unable to help. The situation was resolved after she liaised with the police and immigration authorities at both airports. Her husband was required to go to Cardiff International Airport with the correct passport to meet his wife after her flight.
Cole said: "I just couldn't believe what had happened. You would expect people to double check in this day and age."
Thomas Cook Airlines have apologised, and a Cardiff International Airport spokeswoman said they were "disappointed" by the incident.

Saddam Hussein's Rolls Royce on eBay
Reports are that Saddam Hussein's purple Rolls was, until a few hours ago, listed for sale on eBay for £185,000. The car was apparently bought from the Iraqi government by a Surrey-based car dealer which and has the paperwork to prove the moustachioed identity of its previous owner. The car would have been shipped over from Baghdad within 28 days, with a new stereo added, apparently to replace the one that was ripped out by American soldiers. Sadly the auction has now been pulled, though it's not known if an offline buyer turned up or the authorities stepped in ... Banana-flavoured breast milk anyone? Diet flavours mother's milk
Flavours in a mother's diet can find their way into her breast milk within minutes, according to new research carried out at the University of Copenhagen.
18 women were asked to provide samples of breast milk before and after eating capsules containing various flavours. While banana could be detected for an hour after consumption, menthol lasted for eight hours.
The research also found that the time it took for falvours to arrive and disappear varied significantly between women. However, no flavour seemed to last for more than eight hours.
According to Dr Helene Hausner, the preliminary results suggested that a variety of flavours in breast milk could make the baby more accepting of new and diverse flavours. Fake Officers Sell Fake Smokes
Three men dressed as PAP officers (Chinese police force) have been arrested by real officers for trying to sell fake brand-name cigarettes to store owners in Guangdong province. Apparently the men tried to persuade store owners to buy their Shuangxi brand cigarettes, which they claimed were "gifts" their commanding officer received from favor-seekers (not an uncommon practise) and wanted to get rid of them at a knock-off price. By the time of their arrest, they'd sold only two cartons of fake cigarettes for 75 yuan each. Fifty more cartons of the fake cigarettes were found in their car. Pastor crashes motorcycle during service
A pastor brought out a dirt bike during a church service to demonstrate the concept of unity. Now he's demonstrating the concept of healing.
Jeff Harlow, the senior pastor at Crossroads Community Church, broke his wrist when he lost control of the motorcycle at the start of Sunday's second service, driving off a 5-foot platform and into the vacant first row of seats. He underwent surgery on the wrist Monday.
"Jeff has already laughed a lot, so he's OK. I think his pride was bruised," said his wife, Becky.
Becky Harlow said her husband had recently attended a motorcycle race in Buchanan, Mich. "He had this idea that he would bring this bike out onstage and show people how the rider would become one with the bike," she told the Kokomo Tribune. "He was going to just sit on it and drive it out. He was just walking the dirt bike out onstage and somehow it got away from him. It was not intended."
Jeff Harlow had performed the demonstration at earlier services Saturday night and Sunday morning without incident.

Pauline and David Bromly, who live in Orkney Road in Cosham, Portsmouth, noticed that their pets had been taken overnight on Sunday.
Mr and Mrs Bromly's daughter, Sarah, said her parents were "inconsolable". Ms Bromly said: "[They] have had all of their 14 tortoises stolen from their back garden - six adults and eight babies, who they bred themselves." She added: "They have had one of the males for 25 years. They are members of the Hampshire Tortoise Society and are inconsolable. [The tortoises] were my parents' pride and joy and they are deeply upset and also extremely concerned, particularly of their wellbeing because two of the adults need medical attention."

Money down the toilet: workers recover £700 flushed down toilet
A Dutch woman who accidentally flushed 900 euros (714 pounds) down the toilet got her money back after workers fished the bank notes from the drain.
The woman from the eastern town of Oldenzaal had just withdrawn 1,000 euros in 100-euro bills to spend on her forthcoming holiday. Nine of the notes slipped out of her back pocket and into the toilet bowl while she was relieving herself.
Realising what she had done, she called the local council. "At first my colleagues were dumbfounded, but as the woman was in such a panic they believed her," said a spokesman for the local sewage department.
Using a mini-camera designed to detect blockages in drains and sewers, workers were able to find the nine bank notes, one of which had floated 15 metres (50 ft) from the house.
The woman hung the bills out to dry before heading off on holiday with her family.

Inmate loses weight to escape through jail vent
A man charged with murder escaped from jail early Saturday by climbing through an air conditioner vent, authorities said.
The vent was less than a foot wide, and authorities said Darryl Layne Norris had been losing weight since arriving at the Waller County Jail in April. "We just found out he's been slimming down a lot recently," Waller County Sheriff Randy Smith said. The jail noticed the 6-foot, 160-pound man was missing after performing a routine head count.
Norris, 26, and another man are charged with murder in connection with an April 17 convenience store robbery. Smith did not know if Norris was armed but considered him dangerous.
"He could be anywhere right now," Smith said. "We just don't know." The Texas Rangers were assisting, Smith said. Hempstead is about 50 miles northwest of Houston.
