The future is now? Pretty soon, at least
"Do you have trouble sticking to a diet? Have patience. Within 10 years, Dr. Kurzweil explained, there will be a drug that lets you eat whatever you want without gaining weight.
Worried about greenhouse gas emissions? Have faith. Solar power may look terribly uneconomical at the moment, but with the exponential progress being made in nanoengineering, Dr. Kurzweil calculates that it’ll be cost-competitive with fossil fuels in just five years, and that within 20 years all our energy will come from clean sources.
Are you depressed by the prospect of dying? Well, if you can hang on another 15 years, your life expectancy will keep rising every year faster than you’re aging. And then, before the century is even half over, you can be around for the Singularity, that revolutionary transition when humans and/or machines start evolving into immortal beings with ever-improving software.
At least that’s Dr. Kurzweil’s calculation. It may sound too good to be true, but even his critics acknowledge he’s not your ordinary sci-fi fantasist. He is a futurist with a track record and enough credibility for the National Academy of Engineering to publish his sunny forecast for solar energy." "Do you have trouble sticking to a diet? Eco-Atkins: the new diet craze
The worst diet of all time (if not only because it killed its creator...) has had a rehaul! It's animal-friendly, environmentally friendly and you could drop 10% of your start weight sticking to it for 28 weeks. I always wondered if there was a way to veganise Atkins.
If you've ever asked a vegan: "BUT how do you get your protein?!" read further... The worst diet of all time (if not only because it killed its creator...) has had a rehaul! It's animal-friendly, environmentally fri... more -
Why is the world getting so fat?
How many overweight people do you think there are in the world today? 1.3 billion (that's right, billion with a B)... And how many undernourished people (not ENOUGH food) do you think there are in the world today? Probably MANY more than the 1.3 billion that are overweight, right? Wrong. There are only 700 million people who are undernourished.
There are MORE overweight people in the world than there are people who are hungry. Shocking isn't it.
And here's the most horrific part... This has all happened in the last 50 years. Even countries in the Third World that have been battling starvation and food shortages for centuries are now facing a new problem - obesity.
What's going on here? Why is the world getting so fat? In "The World Is Fat" Barry Popkin argues that there is nothing "natural" about this stage in human evolution. And that there are things happening to our food supply that we HAVE to be aware of.
I'm going to be asking him questions that the big food manufacturers wish I wouldn't... And find out for YOU exactly what we can do together to stop this global widespread epidemic.

Fake Sweeteners Do NOT Make You Gain Weight & Other Diet Myths
The Diet Myths article is from Apex.com which is the promoted nutrition program for 24 hour fitness. I'm not saying it's the gospel. ;)
Here's another article as well:
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/07/02/business/yourmoney/02...
One of my friends is becoming a dietitian and she is being led to believe that artificial sweeteners alone cause weight gain. (The NY Times article is from 2006, so Universities are teaching students outdated info.)
Granted, they are not necessarily healthy and organic is probably the best, but there is no substantial scientific evidence to prove that fake sweeteners alone cause weight gain. 100-Calorie Snacks Are the Downfall of American Civilization
Are they? Is the 100-Calorie snack pack a great diet solution? Can you have your cake and eat it too? Or, are they just over priced crumbs?
Article rants: "Crushing nine Doritos into small pieces and selling them in miniature bags because our landfills aren't being occupied fast enough is just...at best, it is baby food. A hundred calories is a retarded unit of food to try to consume. People in GULAGS didn't dole out food in 100-calorie increments. And the type of food that comes in 100-calorie packs is precisely that sinister brand of carbs that were invented with the sole purpose of making you want MORE."

Britain Gets The Skinny Pill
As early as next year (which is in a few days, so that is VERY soon), the first over-the-counter slimming pill could go on sale in Britain's pharmacies. The drug, which has been marketed in the US under the name Alli since June, is a half-strength version of a pill called Xenical that is currently only available in Britain under prescription for treating obesity. So now we don't even have to try to stay slim. We just take a pill and continue sitting around on our butts. But make sure not to sit around eating crisps and biscuits, because too much fat in your diet while you're on the pill can lead to some explosive diarrhea. Awesome.
