    • Rolling river God

A few years back I had a routine of hiking up a trail at a local park almost daily. When I would get to the end of my trail, there was a bridge that overlooked the picture you will see below. (One day I actually remembered my camera). Every time I came to that point, a song came to my mind as I watched and heard the water wash over the rocks... • A Breath of Fresh Air

A salty breeze sooths the sunburns across my feet, the faint voices of children are playing in the distance, the therapeutic waves of the ocean swing me to rest – this is the life. The daily routines of studying and taking tests are interrupted with a spark of adventure and new surroundings. Spring break has always been anticipated in years past, but this year the chance to relax was crucial.

It’s interesting how countries around the world value their vacations more than the United States does. The American society is the hardest and busiest working nation in the world, but we are also the most stressed and depressed country as well. Can a connection be drawn between these two? Of course there can be, just a simple walk down a city street in Europe can be your clear indication. There is a sense of proficiency in their work ethic yet at a speed that is both comfortable and obtainable. Life for many Europeans moves at the same speed as most Americans, but they are able to balance work and play resulting in frequent vacations and ultimately a stress free life.

I dig my feet out from under the sand and collapse my tropical-color umbrella, this vacation is over. I understand that this opportunity has become an uncommon pattern in the United States' cycle of work. Nevertheless, I take my days at the beach, like each breath of air, nice and easy – maybe others should do the same.

    • Frozen In Time

This is what I call a photo blog. Although it lacks the conventional style of a blog, it brings another aspect to the table that I enjoy – storytelling. I believe that every picture has a thousands words, but what if you knew what those words were? Would they change the way the picture is viewed? Would it bring a sense of comfort or confusion? I have taken my own photos and attached a story along with it. But my story is just one story alone, only a few hundred words that make up a picture. Write your thoughts about the picture as well, make your own story, and maybe we will begin to realize how one picture can have many twists and turns. Here we go:

The picture above shows dark shades of blue and ominous yet settle shades of black. Those two colors over centuries of art making have become universal symbols of emotions. Blue turns stories to sadness, freezing them with a bitter cold that in some works of art stops time itself. It can mimic the cool waters of the ocean yet can become harsh like a deathly chill that ruptures the heart. Blue, of all colors is more than a pigment, it's a statement, a mood, and an emotion that grabs the eyes of the viewer into whatever it wishes to convey.

Even a color that lacks brilliance can be as colourful and dramatic as its counterparts. Black, the color of death, of defeat, of fear, and of depression haunts our hearts and burns our desires. It's a color so bold, so sharp, that it shadows ones place in time, isolates them from the world around them, and even envelops them into the shadows of unending darkness. Gothic as it may sound, black can change identities and become the calmness of night and the courage of warriors. It is a color that connects the living and the dead, it is the surrounding of that tunnel towards the light, but more importantly it's the hope for a new day and a fresh beginning. It's in this color that fairytales and imagination merge into the unique worlds only dreamed under the blackness of night.

With this picture, the flower is frozen in time by tranquil strokes of blue and soft whites, but immersed in darkness. Time is still, capturing a world all of its own, solidified in its beauty, stationary in luminosity

    • Spectacular pictures of nature at its wildest, captured by the storm chasers

The violent winds howl, announcing the arrival of the twister.

Grapefruit-sized hailstones rain down and the huge funnel of the tornado swings menacingly on the horizon.

These are the most violent storms on earth, wreaking havoc wherever they whirl.

For most, the sight of an approaching "twister" is a vision of hell on earth.

But for a few, experiencing a tornado in full flow is their idea of heaven.

      Scroll down for more...
