    • Provocateurs Planning Violence At DNC

      TruthAlliance.net | July 2, 2008

      We Are Change Colorado has now become aware that another group, Unconventional Action, is planning on being violent at the DNC protests. Violence is a broad term. Some argue that property damage is violent, others might tell you it sends a message. To most of the Truth Alliance and We Are Change Colorado activists, there is no message to property damage and is in fact, a form of violent behavior. In the eyes of the law, property damage is completely, without debate, illegal.

      To make the long story short, Unconventional Action seems to be open about their plans for the DNC. Their website, which can be found here: http://www.unconventionalaction.org/ has one link which is pretty disturbing.

      Under the link, “The Strategies: How We Win,” a section titled: Denver: Disrupt the DNC, clearly outlines for “Anarchists and Anti-Authoritarians” to “join (them) in Denver, Colorado, August 24th-28th as (they) engage in coordinated Direct Actions against the Democratic National Convention, its corporate sponsors, and the military/police occupation of public space.”

      Direct Action is further defined on their website as getting directly involved rather than relying on a representative to do the framework. Their website goes on to further state that they are:

      “currently organizing meetings, propaganda, and consultas in our communities and encourage those in other regions to do the same.

      (They) aim to organize militant direct action that manifests opposition to both the Democratic and Republican Parties. As anti-authoritarians, (They) oppose so-called representational politics, but even those who still believe in it must understand that we can only have leverage over our rulers by showing our own power, that we must back our demands by demonstrating that we can interfere with their business as effectively as they interfere with our lives”

      This can all be found on their website at the top link titled, What Is Unconventional Action?

      Unconventional Action was attending the Alliance for Real Democracy meeting which is a new group that has formed in light of the information that was presented here on Truth Alliance about Re-Create 68. Many members of Re-Create 68 have broken away from the group and saw that the intentions of R-68’s demonstrations held no message and potentially could get protesters arrested, agitated and/or violent, aside from the fact that Truth Alliance got direct verbal confirmation that there is violence in the planning of some of the demonstrations. Read both of the articles of information about Re-Create 68 at these links:

    • FOX NEWS AND ITS CAMPAIGN AGAINST THE OBAMAS

      Over the course of the past several months and since Barack Obama and his pastor have hit the mainstream media, race has been at the forefront of hot topics within the American political arena.

      Following are various clips from conservative media outlets commenting on race, Barack and Michelle Obama, and offering often times skewed and ill perceived commentary on issues both within and outside of the black community.

      Patriotism is not a characteristic of convenience, it must be present at greatest moments of triumph for a nation but must also be the root for unarmed critique and analysis of the actions of one's own country. America is a great nation but we have committed acts that are notable alongside some of the greatest atrocities in world history.

      Truth cannnot be serial, constantly waiting for another perceived truth to come along and take its place. Truth can exist in multiple instances. The greatness of this nation along with the moral abomination of its acts in regard to human life.

    • The Democrats' Lieberman Problem

      Senator Joe Lieberman (D) is known for a lot of things, good and bad. He's known for his Ground Breaking Vice-Presidential run, his devotion to solving the Climate Crisis, his devotion to the Iraq war, and his undying support of John McCain.

      Many Democrats take issue with him(myself included). However there are reasons why the Democratic Party hasn't abandoned him- well at least not yet.

      Lieberman gives the Democratic Party something, he gives the Party control over the Senate Committees, something that is VERY important. He votes with them on a number of issues as well.

      The Time Magazine article illustrates his power quite well.

    • George Washington on the danger of political parties

      From George Washington's Farewell Address to the American people in 1796.

      I have already intimated to you the danger of parties in the state, with particular reference to the founding of them on geographical discriminations. Let me now take a more comprehensive view, and warn you in the most solemn manner against the baneful effects of the spirit of party, generally.

      This spirit, unfortunately, is inseparable from our nature, having its root in the strongest passions of the human mind. It exists under different shapes in all governments, more or less stifled, controlled, or repressed; but, in those of the popular form, it is seen in its greatest rankness, and is truly their worst enemy.

      The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries, which result, gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of Public Liberty.

      Without looking forward to an extremity of this kind, (which nevertheless ought not to be entirely out of sight,) the common and continual mischiefs of the spirit of party are sufficient to make it the interest and duty of a wise people to discourage and restrain it.

      It serves always to distract the Public Councils, and enfeeble the Public Administration. It agitates the Community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms; kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot and insurrection. It opens the door to foreign influence and corruption, which find a facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passions. Thus the policy and the will of one country are subjected to the policy and will of another.

      There is an opinion, that parties in free countries are useful checks upon the administration of the Government, and serve to keep alive the spirit of Liberty. This within certain limits is probably true; and in Governments of a Monarchical cast, Patriotism may look with indulgence, if not with favor, upon the spirit of party. But in those of the popular character, in Governments purely elective, it is a spirit not to be encouraged. From their natural tendency, it is certain there will always be enough of that spirit for every salutary purpose. And, there being constant danger of excess, the effort ought to be, by force of public opinion, to mitigate and assuage it. A fire not to be quenched, it demands a uniform vigilance to prevent its bursting into a flame, lest, instead of warming, it should consume.
      ~~~~~~~~~~~
      Wise words as we have seen what he talked about here coming to fruition. Personally, I think the two party system in this country has run its course. It's time for true Democracy to come back again to America. It is time to give the people a real choice instead of the moneyed choices we get year after year which place standing and connections over reason. Factions do nothing but wear away the Democratic process, and as we have seen right now in America to the point where it is unrecognizable. We cannot even impeach a criminal regime because of political party partisanship standing in the way. The only way to bring real "change" is to then change the process instead of only changing the players. Real choice is real change. Even our founding fathers knew that.
      Media's talking heads, especially those on cable news shows, will repeat just about any talking point over and over. They're very careful not to let facts get in the way. In last Sunday's NYT, Frank Rich investigated claims that female Clinton supporters are flocking to McCain in droves because they're upset over the misogyny spouted by - gee - that exact same media. The thing is, there's zero evidence to support that claim. Media's talking heads, especially those on cable news shows, will repeat just about any talking point over and over.     • Crooks and liars: McCain’s lobbyist friends
      One of the big stories with Obama now leading the DNC is that he has announced that not only will his presidential campaign not accept lobbyist donations, neither will the DNC any longer. And while McCain has made some tentative statements about public financing of his campaign, he has yet to commit to anything, other than the sheer number of lobbyists working on his campaign.
      The DNC has put out this ad tying McCain to his lobbyists buddies. From the press release:
      “While Senator McCain talks about transparency and accountability on the campaign trail, back home in Washington he and the lobbyists in his inner circle refuse to apply those same standards to his own campaign,” said DNC Communications Director Karen Finney.
      “Senator Obama and the Democratic Party have promised to change the way business is done in Washington and are taking real steps to ensure that the American people’s priorities dominate the agenda in Washington. If Senator McCain is serious about his call to clean up Washington, he should join us. Otherwise, Senator McCain is once again showing why he is the wrong choice for America’s future.”
    • Clinton to 'Suspend' Campaign Friday
      Hillary Clinton will suspend her campaign on Friday, senior campaign officials have confirmed.
      Clinton will host an event in Washington "to thank her supporters and express her support for Senator Obama and party unity," according to Howard Wolfson, who did not explicitly state that Clinton is dropping out of the race. But other campaign officials said the event will coincide with her departure, despite her earlier reservations about stepping aside.
      Clinton has not made the announcement to her entire staff yet; earlier today, she made a surprise visit to the campaign headquarters in Ballston to thank her aides.
    • Clinton will concede delegate race to Obama tonight
      Hillary Rodham Clinton will concede Tuesday night that Barack Obama has the delegates to secure the Democratic nomination, campaign officials said, effectively ending her bid to be the nation's first female president.
      The former first lady will stop short of formally suspending or ending her race in her speech in New York City. She will pledge to continue to speak out on issues like health care. But for all intents and purposes, the two senior officials said, the campaign is over.
      Most campaign staff will be let go and will be paid through June 15, said the officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to divulge her plans.
    • Party of Hope-Ted Kennedy 1980
      Listen or read Ted Kennedy in his 1980 Democratic National Convention Address. There are many great moments in this. I have clipped in just a few below.
      "We are the Party -- We are the Party of the New Freedom, the New Deal, and the New Frontier. We have always been the Party of hope. So this year let us offer new hope, new hope to an America uncertain about the present, but unsurpassed in its potential for the future."
      ------------------------------------
      "We must not surrender to the relentless medical inflation that can bankrupt almost anyone and that may soon break the budgets of government at every level. Let us insist on real controls over what doctors and hospitals can charge, and let us resolve that the state of a family's health shall never depend on the size of a family's wealth.
      The President, the Vice President, the members of Congress have a medical plan that meets their needs in full, and whenever senators and representatives catch a little cold, the Capitol physician will see them immediately, treat them promptly, fill a prescription on the spot. We do not get a bill even if we ask for it, and when do you think was the last time a member of Congress asked for a bill from the Federal Government? And I say again, as I have before, if health insurance is good enough for the President, the Vice President, the Congress of the United States, then it's good enough for you and every family in America."
    • The State of the Democratic Primary
      A friend of mine brought some tantalizing issues to light to me this evening. Friends, after you read this article you will realize the Truth of the matter regarding the Democratic Primary race. Consider this:
      Let's start with some facts. Americans should know that the final votes of the delegates have not been cast. The votes are always cast on one day – the day of the Democratic Convention. Senators Clinton and Obama are within 1% of each other in the popular vote count. Given numbers of this nature, which are unprecedented in a primary, the delegates must ignore any of the 3-ring natured antics that have been carousing along the media's communication lines recently. The delegates owe it to their party and, most importantly to America, to do what is best for the democratic-party and choose the candidate with the greatest chance of beating the Republican nominee.
      Let's take a look at some further facts. Senator Clinton has the largest base of constituents to work with – the popular vote tells this story. Since March 4th, Senator Clinton has received roughly 100,000 more votes than Senator Obama. Think about this. Since the coverage of the candidates has been on an even playing field, Senator Clinton has more votes than does Senator Obama. I'm not making this up, the tides changed when the media woke up. This morning can be marked in time by the SNL skit that parodied the media's babying of Senator Obama. The night was February 23rd, 2008. That would make the morning that of the 24th, but I digress. SNL knew they affected the Presidential race, and we all know it as well. This is why they evened the score recently against Senator Clinton. However, popular culture scores don't change the facts that we are discussing at the moment. Senator Clinton has the majority of votes since February 23rd, 2008. Moreover, since that day 777 delegates have been pledged. I'm not discussing super-delegates, they are at the whim of the political tides that are both created by the media and irrelevant at this time. Of those 777 delegates, Senator Clinton has won 400 – a clear majority.
      Some further facts. It is a fact that Senator Clinton's policies are better for America than are Senator Obama's. Isn't it interesting that Senator Obama's supporters don't claim to have better policies – not even the media claims that. No, the claim is that the election is over and Senator Obama is the presumptive nominee. It is true that Senator Clinton and Senator Obama's policies are not all that different. But, it is also true that where they differ, Senator Clinton's policies are not only superior, but they are more detailed and more realistic. Take a look at their healthcare policies for example. Senator Obama's plan will not accomplish what it intends to. His policy has a large doughnut hole in it and will not cover many middle-class Americans. Perhaps this is why Senator Obama is having such difficulties garnering votes from that enormous segment of our society. Some of Senator Obama's policy positions read like the first draft of a scholarship application – chock full of hope, yet incomplete and inconsistent. Senator Clinton's policies are better for America, not to mention the fact that Senator Clinton has more exposure, seasoning, and experience in running the most powerful Nation in the World.
      The point is that this primary is far from over. We won't know who is going to face the Republican nominee until the day of the Democratic Convention. It is the will of the voters – that is democracy.
      God Bless
      Peace and Love,
