    • The Angelina Jolie of Bollywood?

Kareena Kapoor is one step closer to becoming Bollywood's Angelina Jolie after doing a voiceover for an animated movie.

A friend of the actress revealed to One India that Kareena had just completed dubbing for 'Roadside Romeo', a Yashraj film. The source said: "Before proceeding with the dubbing, Kareena heard the story and made sincere efforts to understand the character that she dubbed for.”

The Bollywood beauty also reportedly prepared for the role by watching 'Kung Fu Panda', which Angelina Jolie provided a voice for.

    • Drona - Superhero Movie Bollywood Style

Drona, an Indian Superhero film starring Abhishek Bachchan,Aasim Khan ,Priyanka Chopra was released worldwide on October 2, 2008. Film is supposed to be a compelling modern tale of one man's spectacular voyage through the labyrinths of mystic myths and legendary legacies. Of a journey that will force him to face his fears and make him the hero he was born to become. Drona claims to derive its roots from Indian mythology but actually ends up falling in the standard template of those frequent fanciful films where the villain desires to gain immortality through magical potions and the hero (or is it superhero) has to stop him from achieving eternity.

Drona essentially is designed as a superhero film but sadly his superpowers seem to be nothing more than delivering punches. The film starts on a dull note and as it progresses it starts resembling an Arabian Nights fable of the 80s in the likes of Hatim Tai (to tacky effect), with a protagonist who has to overcome obstacles to complete his mission. Unfortunately the blockages in his path are so bland that the lackluster screenplay loses its audience midways.

    • Strike brings Bollywood to a halt

All work in India's film and television hub of Bollywood has stopped after thousands of technicians and actors began a strike over pay and conditions.

Unions representing film employees in Mumbai (Bombay) say many members have not been paid for months and are threatening to strike indefinitely. Meanwhile, film producers have told the BBC they will meet to decide their response on Thursday. They say that they are prepared to weather a long dispute if necessary.

"Employees sometimes work for as long as 30 hours at a stretch. There have been serious health issues and even accidents. We have been writing to producers but it got us nowhere," said Dinesh Chaturvedi of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees.

He said that workers' patience had reached "saturation point" because wages had not been paid for months and contracts were not being honoured. Mr Chaturvedi - whose federation of 22 unions represents 147,000 members - said that in some cases wages had been withheld for up to six months, leaving workers on the verge of starvation.

    • Rani Mukherjee is my competitor!

It feels a bit weird to know that your name can be used for naming people form the opposite sex.

In my case, i never though that I would find people having my name even from the same sex (males), because it's one of the most rare names in region, and i really like that - to be rare in everything even your name - and I won't really like it when someone calls my name to have at least 10 people responding to the caller saying "ya, what's up"!

So, this very famous name "Rani Mukherjee" became my google name competitor (lol), as it's very famous searchable keyword, it's getting harder and....

    • Court delays Hari Puttar film release

A court in India has postponed the release of a film entitled Hari Puttar, after complaints from the makers of the blockbuster Harry Potter films.

Hollywood company Warner Bros has filed a lawsuit against all parties involved in the production and distribution of the Hari Puttar film. It has been quoted as saying the the title of the Indian movie is confusing. Mirchi Movies, the makers of the Bollywood children's film, have denied the accusations. It told the BBC that India's Hari Puttar had nothing to do with the Harry Potter wizard movies, to which Warner Bros owns the rights.

Mirchi says that Hari is a popular Indian name, and Puttar means 'son' in Hindi and Punjabi. The Indian film tells the story of a 10-year-old boy who moves to England with his family and becomes involved in a plan to save the world. The Indian production house says the name of their film was registered in 2005. But the legal proceedings mean that scheduled release of Hari Puttar has been postponed. It was meant to hit cinema halls on Friday, but has now been pushed back to the end of this month.

    • Mumaith Khan - big boobs Bollywood style

Busty bollywood beauty Mumaith Khan is a film actress best known for her dance numbers in movies - not because she is such a great dancer, but because way she shakes her big breasts while wearing scanty tops showing loads of cleavage. She has acted in nearly 15 movies in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada languages. Mumaith's family hailed from Pakistan but moved to India where they settled in the outskirts of Mumbai. Her father is an Indian (Tamil Nadu) and her mother is a Pakistani. She ended in entertainment business after she joined a small dance troop to supprt her poor family.

Turning Point of her career was when she was seventeen and beat dozens of models and floored the casting couch of "Munnabhai MBBS" with her talents and eventually bagged the item number in the movie, in which she performed in a song sequence 'Dekh le' and came to be known as a 'Dekh le girl' in the entire film industry ...

    • 3 Bollywood stars rule in Forbes list of cell celebs

With India emerging as what Forbes calls 'the global capital of celebrity cell phone promotions', three Bollywood stars - Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan - figure in its list of 'Ten Celebs and Their Cells'.

'Though the practice permeates the US, Europe and East Asia, India is the global capital of celebrity cell phone promotions,' said the US business magazine, with cell phones beginning to rival cosmetics and fashion in their pursuit of celebrity star power.

India is blessed with two unique characteristics: the world's fastest-growing cellphone market and a plethora of home grown superstars, said the publication, known for its list of world's wealthy on its Forbes.com. 'That has phone makers competing to snap up the most bankable Bollywood stars, hoping their legions of fans will follow.

Motorola recently signed Abhishek Bachchan, whose celebrity stems from his own acting career - the legacy of his actor father Amitabh Bachchan and the fame of his actress wife, Aishwarya Rai. As recently as March, Bachchan had been the face of LG in India.

Samsung has actor/director Aamir Khan, whose work, the company says, mirrors its brand's 'qualities of innovation, change, discovery, self-expression and excellence in performance.' Samsung has said it is counting on Khan's popularity to help it double its market share in India this year.

Even the world's largest phone manufacturer Nokia, which abstains from celebrity marketing elsewhere in the world, has a partnership with Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan that includes TV commercials and sponsorship of Khan's cricket team.

Sony Ericsson has tennis star Maria Sharapova. Motorola has David Beckham, Danica Patrick, Wyclef Jean and Fergie. Samsung has soccer studs Michael Ballack and Didier Drogba.

And that's not counting the corps of Bollywood, Cantopop and K-pop stars the companies employ in Asia, Forbes said.

Motorola has used brand ambassadors for about two years. The celebrities 'help elevate and build credibility for the Motorola brand and products,' Forbes cited Jeremy Dale, vice president of marketing for Motorola Mobile Devices as saying. The trend is growing as more people around the world acquire cell phones - 3.5 billion and counting - and phone makers realise they need to work harder to sell their wares.

David Beckham frequently promotes Motorola's RAZR2 while competing abroad. In February, he made a pit stop in Seoul, where Motorola has struggled to unseat Korean rivals Samsung and LG. One local newspaper that covered the event noted, 'Beckham Comes to Rescue Motorola.

Not every celebrity wants to be associated with a phone, even the latest, coolest models. Some endorse phones on the sly, limiting endorsements to companies based abroad. Actor Chris Noth - of 'Sex and the City' and 'Law & Order' fame - represents LG's Secret phone in Australia, halfway around the world from his New York home, the publication said.

    • Abhishek-Aishwarya to play Ram-Sita in Mani Ratnam's Ramayan

Mumbai, Aug 20: Imagine Abhishek Bachchan as ‘Maryada Purushottam Ram’ and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as the docile and beautiful ‘Sita’ in a period film on the epic Ramayan. Well, the imagination may soon turn out to be a reality as the ace director is actually intending to sign Abhi-Ash for his upcoming film on Ramayan. And guess who will be cast in the role of Hanuman? Well, it is none other than our comedy star Govinda, who will be seen playing the monkey God.

Mani Ratnam is super elated with his next project after ‘Guru’, which was based on the life of industrialist Dhiru Bhai Ambani that saw this off-screen couple playing the lead role. Tamil actor Vikram will play the evil Ravan.

The new modernized version of Ramayan by Mani Ratnam has become the talk of the tinsel town. Buzz has it that like Gowariker’s Jodhaa-Akbar, which focused on the romance between Akbar and Jodhabai, Mani Ratnam’s film, too, will revolve around Ram-Sita love story. However, the story line still remains unclear.

The film is to be made under Ratnam's banner Madras Talkies and will be produced by his sister Sharda. The flick will go on the floors by September end. Incidentally, Vikram, who will be playing Ravan in the movie, will play Ram in the Tamil version.

Well, this news is bound to create stir. Abhi-Ash fans would be euphoric but the moral policemen of our time would be sitting like hawks just waiting to pick a controversy and create ‘Ram’ issue again. Beware, Mani sir!
