Celtics Win 17th Title
The Boston Celtics beat the Los Angeles Lakers to capture a record 17th NBA Championship. The win marks their first title since "The Big Three" Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish won it back in 1986. This time "The Big Three" for Boston came in the form of Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Finals MVP Paul Pierce who teamed up to dismantle the Lakers team in the best of seven series that many people picked them to lose. Stay Classy Boston (22 arrested)
Surprising only in that there were so few arrested after such a big win. Guess Boston fans really don't have much heart after all. I mean come on, 22, thats nothing. In a statement to the press Boston's Mayor called these Celtics fans "punks" and hopes that they will face tough punishments. As my friend Vince Vaughn said once, "Class, class, class". Right Gino! Sam Cassell to the Celtics?
In what could be yet another huge move in the NBA. Reports have come out speculating a very "possible" trade/deal that could move Sam Cassell to the Celtics. Given the likelihood that the Clips make the post season this year I am not going to rule this out of the realm of possibility as it could work out for both teams. If the Celtics were to get Sam Cassell we could be looking at a clear choice for runner up in the Finals. Although this addition would still leave the Lakers on top the Celtics would have to move ahead of teams like Detroit, PHO, SAN, etc. Right?
From SI.com
[[[ By this time next week, we should have a pretty good idea if there are going to be any more add-ons to the Celtics roster. A number of players on executive director of basketball operations Danny Ainge's to-do list will become available, most notably Brent Barry tomorrow. Also possibilities: Sam Cassell (provided the Clippers buy him out and waive him by midnight Friday) and Chris Andersen (who would fit the need for an athletic big man, but who still is awaiting league and union approval on his reinstatement filings.) ]]] In what could be yet another huge move in the NBA. Warriors make history, again.
With a sell-out crowd, the biggest in Calif. history, and an usual nail-biter game, the Warriors beat the beast from the east. Including a lovely display of the fear-the-beard execution, even without CPT Jack.
Just a fabulous game and great performance from both teams.
