Man denied reduction of $10Million Dollar Bail
Former fugitive Gordon Weaver will probably remain behind bars while he awaits a new trial in the 1999 death of his wife after a judge on Tuesday denied a defense motion to lower Weaver's $10 million bail.
Ramsey County District Judge Salvador Rosas said the case is "too close to a resolution to risk it."
Weaver, 51, skipped out on bail in March 2000 after a grand jury handed up an indictment charging him with first-degree murder in connection with Jean Weaver's death in the couple's White Bear Lake home. Dr. Phil show bails out a girl charged in YouTube attack.
Mercades Nichols, one of eight teens charged in the brutal attack which was captured on a YouTube video, was bailed out by a representative of the show on Friday night, according to a report from MyFOXTampaBay.com.
A judge on Friday set bails ranging from $30,000 to $37,000 for the teenagers.
The Dr. Phil representative was waiting by the jail's exit, and when Nichols walked out, he tried to block Tampa TV station camera people from getting video of Nichols and her family leaving jail.
In the statement on Saturday, the Dr. Phil show said that bailing the girl out of jail was a violation of the show’s rules, and that the show would no longer go forward with the girl’s story.
