    • Children Raised by Homosexuals are 7 times more likely to be Gays or Bisexuals

      This review is a survey of nine studies (click on the link for details)

      Based on the average found in the following nine studies, 14% of children raised by homosexual parents develop homosexual or bisexual preferences. These studies reported rates of non-heterosexuality ranging from 8% to 21%. The most frequently reported percentages were 14% and 16% (two studies each). For comparison purposes, data from the best national surveys report that approximately 2% of the general population is non-heterosexual (Laumann, Gagnon, Michael, and Michaels,1994). Therefore, if these percentages hold true in better designed studies, children raised by homosexuals appear to be about seven times more likely to develop homosexual or bisexual preferences than children raised by heterosexuals. And, as was explained earlier, 14% may be an under-estimate due to the young ages of many of the subjects in these studies.

      The nine studies surveyed are reviewed and include the authors' abstracts or descriptions provided by others, followed by her comments and/or analysis. They are presented in alphabetical order

    • We Are Not Born Gay, Sweedish Twin study Shows

      Identical twins develop when one fertilized egg separates into two individuals. As such, identical twins have nearly identical DNA. Researchers study the concordance of a trait in identical twins to see whether or not a trait is genetically-linked. In a concordant pair of twins, both show the same characteristic.

      Twin studies that have been conducted to date actually demonstrate that homosexuality is not genetic. As Dr. Neil Whitehead notes, “In a nutshell, if you take pairs of identical twins in which one twin is homosexual, the identical co-twin is usually not homosexual. That means, given that identical twins are always genetically identical, homosexuality cannot be genetically dictated. No-one is born gay

      In general, twin studies show that when one male identical twin is gay-identified, the other will be gay-identified one time in nine, or only 11% of the time. The percentages are similar for female homosexuality. If homosexual behavior, attractions and identity were completely genetic, the similarity would be closer to 100%. What this tells us is that same-sex attracted twins are not born that way. Thus, within a pair of identical twins – where one twin has same-sex attractions – the other will have opposite-sex attractions eight out of nine times.

      So what about this 2008 Swedish twin study ?

      The study of twins and homosexuality was touted in a press release as “the largest in the world so far.” The authors said that “more than 7,600 Swedish twins….responded to a 2005-2006 survey of health, behaviour, and sexuality.” I

      In their analysis:

      Only 7 pairs of male identical twins were found where both had any same-sex partner in their lifetime;
      Only 26 pairs of female identical twins were found where both had any same-sex partner in their lifetime;
      Only 64 pairs of identical male twins were found where only 1 of the pair had any same-sex partners;
      And only 188 pairs of identical female twins were found where only 1 of the pair had any same-sex partners. (10)

      Significantly, their data show a very low number of identical twin pairs who had both engaged in same-sex behaviors. The data also show a very low concordance rate (where both twins show the same trait) – less then 10% for the males and slightly over 12% for the females. Again, the study points to what we already know: there is a low concordance rate for homosexuality among identical twins, and the main factors in homosexuality are not genetic.

    • Why is hemp off the biofuel menu?

      With all the talk of Ethiopians starving because farmland is being diverted to planting crops that are to be processed into biofuel, but are uneatable I figured this would be a great read. Thank you Guardian...
      The Royal Society, the European Commission and the UK government have all managed, in the last few days, to take the wind out of the sails of the biofuel industry, publishing reports that suggest biofuels could be causing more harm than good, the crops not being as environmentally friendly as first thought, with the Commons environmental audit committee calling for a moratorium on biofuel targets until more research can be done.

      What struck me as astonishing about these reports is that they all managed to ignore the one crop which has been successfully used for many years to create bioethanol and biodiesel, is environmentally friendlier to produce than sugar beet, palm oil, corn or any of the crops mentioned in the report and can grow in practically any temperate to hot climate leaving the ground in better condition than when it was planted.

      That plant is hemp.

      Last year, the Conservative MP David Maclean tabled a question to the then environment secretary, Ian Pearson, asking what assessment had been made about the potential to grow hemp as a biofuel crop in England. Pearson responded:

      Research into the potential of hemp as a biofuel crop suggests it is not currently competitive compared to other sources of biomass. However, hemp does have a number of high-value end uses. For example, as a fibre crop it is used in car panels, construction and as horse bedding. In addition, hempseed oil is used in food, cosmetics and various industrial applications. As a result, there is little interest in this country at present in growing it for biofuel production.

      So the government cannot point to ignorance of hemp's uses, which makes hemp's omission from any of the recent reports even more perplexing.

      The fact that hemp does not need to have land cleared to grow it, grows faster than any of the crops currently used and leaves the ground in a better state when it is harvested should surely be enough for it to be considered a perfect crop to offset the carbon currently produced by fossil fuels and by the less efficient biofuels currently being so roundly criticised by the various official research bodies.

      The influential Biodiesel magazine reported last year on the cultivation of hemp as a biofuel and it too could only point to its lack of economic competitiveness (due to its minimal production) as a reason for not seeing it as a viable biofuel. But surely if it was mass-produced, this one drawback could be overcome and its many benefits as an efficient biofuel could be harnessed.

      As far as research and implementation of hemp for biofuel, the US is way ahead of Europe and there are a range of websites dedicated to the use of hemp as a fuel for cars.

      In the UK, companies such as Hemp Global Solutions have been set up very much with climate change and the reduction of carbon emissions in mind, but there is little, if any, research in this country that has looked into the viability of the hemp plant as a fuel for cars.

      So why was there not a single mention of this miracle crop, that, in addition to being able to be used as fuel, can also be used as paper, cloth, converted into plastic and is a rich food source containing high levels of protein?

John McCain's false claim that "[i]f you are one of the 23 million small business owners in America who files as an individual rate payer, Senator [Barack] Obama is going to raise your tax rates." • Red Cross discrimination

      The Red Cross, although a humanitarian organization, continues to openly discriminate against homosexuals and men who sleep with men in their effort to keep the blood supply "safe". Although the guidelines tend to appear quite outdated in today's society, there doesn't seem to be any effort to change or update the current system of blood screening.

      Anyone who actively gives blood knows about the barrage of questions that the Red Cross nurses ask during the screening process. These safety measures are delegated by the Food and Drug Administration. Since safety of our blood supply is paramount, this is a necessary precaution. But, out of these questions, one question in particular stands out: "have you had sexual contact with a male, even once, since 1977?"

      If you answer "yes" to this question, you will be refused the opportunity to give blood.

      The American Red Cross, on their website (under "donor eligibility guidelines") describes these guidelines as "intended to protect the health and safety of the donor as well as the patient who will receive the transfusion". The guidelines go on to classify men who sleep with men in the same category of intravenous drug users and people who exchange money for sex, under the heading "HIV/AIDS". This representation alludes to the rumor that gay men and men who sleep with men, along with intravenous drug users and prostitutes are the only persons who can become infected with HIV/AIDS. This is false representation of a safety measure, and propagates the rumor that people in this classification are the only individuals who can contract or spread HIV/AIDS.

      These guidelines can be found at: http://www.redcross.org/services/biomed/0,1082,0_557_,0...

      It does not matter to the Red Cross if you are a monogamous gay male in a healthy relationship. It doesn't matter to the Red Cross if you've cheated on your spouse (straight or gay), it doesn't even matter if you've contracted syphilis or gonorrhea (as long as you wait 12 months before donating!)...but it does matter if you have "sex with men", or even fooled around with a man, even once in 30 years.

      With all of our scientific knowledge about the spread of HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases, it seems surprising that the Red Cross would continue to perpetrate false information about Homosexuals and the spread of HIV/AIDS in the name of safety. The Red Cross blames the Food and Drug Administration for this policy, and the FDA blames the Red Cross for not being discriminatory enough in protecting the blood supply. So we are left in a bind of open discrimination by our government and a world health organization.

      The Red Cross and the FDA also fail to acknowledge that men (and women) who sleep with many partners are also at a high risk of becoming infected with HIV/AIDS. There is no question in the guidelines reflective of persons who have sexual contact with multiple partners, or persons who have unprotected sexual contact with others, or persons who engage in unsafe sexual practices. These persons, as long as they do not use intravenous drugs, charge for sex, or have sexual contact with men can still donate, and be a "hero".

      Although our blood supply organizations should continue to carry out the highest standards of blood safety, the current guidelines must be revised to reflect our modern culture if organizations like the Red Cross intend to promote safety and well being. The truth about HIV/AIDS and other diseases must be reflective of scientific fact, and not old rumors. The truth about the safety of our blood supply is, if you look closely, a half truth riddled with discrimination.

    • 911 Coincidences? You be the judge and tell a friend!

      Many people on this site have commented on videos relating to 9/11. There is a stigma created by mainstream media and the Bush Administration that anyone who believes in conspiracy theories surrounding 9/11 are crazy.

      Please do not allow this kind of thing to continue. There is so much evidence out there about the real events of 9/11 and who was involved and why that if open and public hearings were to be held in congress without the interference of the Bush Administration, I believe that the country would be completely shocked and a total loss of confidence in the government would be experienced on a massive scale. It is no wonder that plans for "Continuity of Government" and "Private Armies, Navies, Air Force, and Space Forces" have been bought and paid for through "Black Operations" that receive billions of dollars in financial support every year. This is being done so guilty will have private military forces to protect them from us; the citizens of the United States who will be outraged to find out that the conspiracy was real.

      This administration and other ones surely to come will continue with the plans already outlined for them; they will not be dissuaded.

      Although I am not advocating open revolt, I am making a prediction here and now; that by 2012, if the planet hasn't caused extensive damage to the human population by then, our country could be embroiled in yet a second civil war.

      They may think that people are just going to accept them, the guilty and complicit Administration, Senators and Congressmen who have either openly participated in the con job or have not had the spine and backbone to step up to the plate and support Impeachment hearings against Cheney and Bush, will just take it and move on because of "stimulus payments" or any other bribe to keep them quite has got a lot of rethinking to do. People are mad as hell and they just aren't going to take it anymore.

      I see the whole thing coming to a head after this next election, especially if Obama is somehow not elected, gets assassinated, or turns out to have been lying to us all and is himself a Neo-Con masquerading as a moderate. Anyone of these three could be the hair trigger that could ignite the conflict.

      I have also read and seen people posting a more positive vision of the future, one that manifests in spite of the chaos that revelations of massive government conspiracies would illicit. I really do hope that this is the real future that awaits us, peace and transcendence. But could the promise of yet another Nirvana just be part of the "Con" perpetrated by the same individuals who want us not to put up a fight and take America Back?

      I don't know, you be the judge of that one for sure. I certainly don't want to tread on anyones faith. But faith needs to be tempered with reason, and viewing the evidence and being part of the jury should be the duty of every American. Watch the evidence and then judge for yourself. Be open minded, you might learn a thing or two.

    • Poll Finds That Most Voters Want Third Party Voices Included

      sign on http://www.PetitionOnline.com/GoogleNO/petition.html
      However, the Zogby poll commissioned by Open Debates found that 57 percent of eligible voters desired the inclusion of Nader in the debates. (Over forty percent of eligible voters supported the inclusion of the three other third-party candidates, though slightly more eligible voters opposed their inclusion.)

      Nonetheless, all third-party and independent candidates were excluded from the 2004 presidential debates. Both Kerry and Bush opposed the inclusion of other candidates, and the CPD employed the highly restrictive and anti-democratic 15 percent criterion to publicly justify the exclusion of these third-party challengers.

      With Nader and Buchanan on the sidelines, Gore and Bush participated in three presidential debates. The dreary events, which the public perceived as pitting a smiling bumbler against an arrogant policy-wonk, attracted the smallest audience in the history of televised presidential debates. The only real excitement took place outside the debate hall, where helicopters swarmed over 12,000 protesters outraged with third party exclusion and where Ralph Nader was barred from entering a television viewing room even though he had a ticket. John Vezeris, a representative of the CPD, told Nader, "It's already been decided that whether or not you have a ticket you are not welcome."

    • Scholar finds original writer of "Obama is a Muslim" false chain letter

      Laid out before Allen, a razor-sharp, 36-year-old political theorist, was what purported to be a biographical sketch of Barack Obama that has become one of the most effective -- and baseless -- Internet attacks of the 2008 presidential season. The anonymous chain e-mail makes the false claim that Obama is concealing a radical Islamic background. By the time it reached Allen on Jan. 11, 2008, it had spread with viral efficiency for more than a year.

      During that time, polls show the number of voters who mistakenly believe Obama is a Muslim rose -- from 8 percent to 13 percent between November 2007 and March 2008. And some cited this religious mis-affiliation when explaining their primary votes against him.

      As the general-election campaign against Sen. John McCain has gotten underway, Obama's aides have made the smears a top target. They recently launched FightTheSmears.com to "aggressively push back with the truth," said Obama campaign spokesman Tommy Vietor, and go viral with it. The Web site urges supporters to upload their address books and send e-mails to all of their friends. "

      But long before this, Allen had been obsessing about the origins of her e-mail at the institute, which is most famous for having been the research home of Albert Einstein. Allen studies the way voters in a democracy gather their information and act on what they learn. She was familiar, of course, with the false rumors of a secret love child that helped sink McCain's White House bid in 2000, and the Swift boat attacks that did the same to Democrat John Kerry in 2004. But the Obama e-mail was on another plane: The use of the Internet made it possible to launch anonymous attacks that could reach millions of voters in weeks or even days.

    • Bush is trying to impose a colonial status on Iraq

      Whatever the Iraq war was about, we were assured, it definitely wasn't about oil. Tony Blair called the idea a "conspiracy theory". It was about democracy and dictatorship, weapons of mass destruction and human rights, anything but oil. Donald Rumsfeld, then US defence secretary, insisted the conflict had "literally nothing to do with oil". When Alan Greenspan, former chairman of the US Federal Reserve, wrote last autumn, "Everyone knows: the Iraq war is largely about oil," he was treated as if he were some senile old gent who'd embarrassingly lost the plot.

      That argument is going to be a good deal harder to make from next week, when four of the western world's largest oil corporations are due to sign contracts for the renewed exploitation of Iraq's vast reserves. Initially, these are to be two-year deals to boost production in Iraq's largest oilfields. But not only did the four energy giants - BP, Exxon Mobil, Shell and Total - write their own contracts with the Iraqi government, an unheard-of practice: they have also reportedly secured rights of first refusal on the far more lucrative 30-year production contracts expected once a new US-sponsored oil law is passed, allowing a wholesale western takeover. Big Oil is back with a vengeance.

      It's a similar story when it comes to the future of the US occupation itself. The last thing on anyone's mind, we were told when the tanks rolled in, was permanent US control, let alone the recolonisation of Iraq. This was about the Iraqis finally getting a chance to run their own affairs in freedom. But five years on, George Bush and Dick Cheney are putting the screws on their Green Zone government to sign a secret deal for indefinite military occupation, which would effectively reduce Iraq to a long-term vassal state.
      ~~~~~~~~~
      A crime beyond words. Now we will make enemies of the Iraqi people thus prologing this war and the terrorism that goes with it. With a Congress that is totally ineffective in stopping them. So once this is done and should the predicted war in Iran take place, how is any candidate going to promise an end to this by next year? They are already being given more than enough time to make that end impossible. This government has now become the very sort of tyrannical monarchy our forefathers fought to free us from! Benjamin Franklin was quoted as stating, "Now you have a Republic if you can keep it." We are failing those words. These people must be held accountable!
      Witnesses linked a highly toxic chemical, sodium dichromate, to illnesses reported by soldiers and workers at an Iraq plant. KBR, the lead contractor on the Qarmat Ali project and one of the largest defense contractors in Iraq was accused of knowingly exposing solders to the chemical, during a senate hearing yesterday.
      "These soldiers were bleeding from the nose, spitting blood,” said Danny Langford, an equipment technician from Texas brought to work at the Qarmat Ali Water treatment plant in 2003. “They were sick.”
      "Edward Blacke, who served as KBR’s health, safety, and environmental coordinator for the Qarmat Ali project, said he saw soldiers with “continuous bloody noses, spitting up of blood, coughing, irritation of the noses, eyes, throat, and lungs, shortness of breath.”
      The Pentagon and KBR dismiss the charges claiming everyone will be fine.
