The Official Uncut Scarecrow Music Video/Lord Hector Diono
Are we talking motion pictures for the American rap recording artist Lord Hector Diono? There are rumors circulating about a motion picture script the rapper was writing about a year ago,and a book he's been trying to finish, but while reviewing this video, the uncut version of "Scarecrow" directed by the artist himself, you sort of get an idea of what it might be like to see him on the big screen. Hector says he's just bieng Hector but the video takes you there and you can't help but wonder, will we be seeing more of Lord hector diono in settings like this? If so bring it on! I loved the set up for this Indie produced music video check it out for yourself. Visit America before America visits you
I'm interested in what this says about the transplantation of American culture abroad. The fact that people listen to rap music across the globe is nothing new. American music, television, and radio can be viewed in almost any country of the world. American fashion trends dominate the minds of youth everywhere. Generally, the effect of American trends being transplanted across the globe has been viewed as rather innocuous. But recently, people in the Middle East and elsewhere are beginning to question this rabid consumption of all things American. In Sudan, transplantation of gangsta culture in particular has not occurred without damaging effects. Without necessarily knowing the origins of the music that they are listening to, some young Sudanese emigrants have begun to take on the lifestyles referenced in various rap songs. They are coming up at odds with the Egyptian police as a result. I'm interested in what this says about the transplantation of American culture abroad. The fact that people listen to rap music a... more

The Nobility of O.G.'s
Having grown up on Chicago's [deservedly] notorious West Side in the 70's I definitely 'know from gangs', shall we say.
There's a strange collusion that goes on in modern times between the media, hip hop and the overall pop culture-based impression [or shall we say repression] of gangs and gang culture. Basically we're talking about a tenacious subculture that is at schizophrenic turns reviled and revered. Think the Lost Boys - wild and untamed and recklessly 'free' but strangely admirable at their core.
However, the flashpoint history of these gangs is what really gets you thinking - or rather RE-thinking - their socioeconomic tenacity in the modern context. It's not a "white man's burden" thing so much as it is a very complicated, insular world not without its heroes, its legends, its rituals, its heartbreaks. And, most surprisingly, its own share of here and there nobility.
Warriors walk alone, indeed. Having grown up on Chicago's [deservedly] notorious West Side in the 70's I definitely 'know from gangs', shall we... more -
