    • Man goes on holiday, 'declared dead' on his arrival home

If you go on holiday, tell people where you're going...Michael O'Neill wishes he had.

After taking a very last minute holiday to Australia he overlooked the fact telling people where he was going might be a good idea, but thought little of it. Until he returned to England...

On arriving back in Middlesborough, he found his mates mourning his death after neighbours had grown so worried they had reported him missing to the police. The police subsequently broke down his flat door but couldn't find any evidence to where he was.

Now comes the good bit, a week before Michael' return to the UK, his friends saw an obituary in the local paper and figured their worst fears had come true: an announcement for the death of Michael O'Neill, aged 50 who has left behind two brothers, Kevin and Terry.

Turns out the man that died was the same age, had the same name, and identically named siblings and because last0-minute jetsetter O'Neill didn't tell anyone he was off down under, they all thought he was dead.

    • Thinking of stealing a PS3? Think again!

Dustin Walker thought he had it all when his fiancee brought him home his very own Sony PS3, until the police knocked at his door.

Turns out his loving fiancee had bought the console from the a local pawn shop not realising that the PS3 was actually stolen, and that the policeman at his door was there to collect his prize and joy.

He was only traced down to Sony's nifty network which tracked the console via its IP address, because he'd been logged in under "someone else's name—someone who'd reported their system stolen as part of a larger ring of crime."

    • Drugs bust misses drug den, but gets 50-year-old woman's house

Police officers carrying out a drugs raids have had to apologise to an innocent woman after smashing their way into her house by mistake.

Officers in Bolton were carrying out the early morning raids as part of an operation to tackle a notorious drug ring. Seven officers dressed in riot gear smashed through the front window of her house at 6.30am, only to realise that it wasn't the drug den they had anticipated, but rather the house of a nice lady in her 50s.

"GMP has apologised to the occupant and will ensure that the damage to the property is repaired.

I wonder if the drug den was next door, it'd give them dodgy dealers plenty of time to wake up, have a cup of coffee and then dispose of the things they know they shouldn' be selling...

    • Woman crashes into McDonald's

A 90-year-old woman accidentally backed into a McDonald's restaurant, disrupting a bingo game and sending a couple to the hospital with minor injuries.

Lois Weber told police one of her tennis shoes became stuck under the gas pedal on her 2004 Cadillac, causing her to lose control and back into the restaurant Wednesday. She said she recently changed shoe brands and was not used to the wider fit.

No tickets were issued. Weber, who has a valid driver's license, was able to drive her car home.

Police said the car crashed into a wall and window of the restaurant in the Broad Ripple neighborhood on the north side of the city. The car pushed John Atkinson, 80, and his wife Beverly, 75, both of Indianapolis, who were playing bingo.

The couple suffered cuts on their hands from broken glass.

    • Heathrow's nightmare continues

Just listen to how super high-tech the baggage system was supposed to be at Heathrow airport Terminal 5. On opening the terminal utter carnage ensued, with bags being sent to the wrong destinations, bags not making it onto flights, and delays just about everywhere.

British Airways called off 37 flights from T5 on Sunday, a further 54 services will not operate on Monday and some may also be disrupted on Tuesday. It's all thanks to that super sophisticated baggage system which now has a backlog of 15,000 bags clogging up the system, across all of Heathrow's terminals.

BA have tried to put peoples nerves to rest, especially those who think their flights might be canceled by saying that the system is now "generally working well", hardly the most confident of statements.

With the Olympics just around the corner, is this a bad sign of the state of British organisation? We were over budget and behind schedule on Wembley by a considerable margin, and now the launch of our world beating airport terminal has been overshadowed by complete chaos in the baggage department. Let's hope that the Olympics are the exception to the rule...
